Abstract

Burnout is an emotional fatigue syndrome that often occurs on nurses in Emergency Department (ED). Emergency room nurses provide care quickly, responsively, and precisely. One of the factors that influence the burnout level is coping. Previous theories have not been able to explain positive coping for nurses who experience burnout, as well as literature review concerning burnout and coping among emergency room nurses are still minimal, so further research is needed.  This study aims to identify burnout and coping among emergency room nurses. This research is a narrative review. Conduct search for research articles in the CINAHL, Pubmed, Science Direct, and Google Scholar databases using "burnout" AND "coping" AND "emergency nurse" OR "perawat IGD." Inclusion criteria are articles on last ten years, primary research, sample of emergency nurses. Unrelevant articles are excluded. Thus, 19 relevant articles were obtained which were analysed using compare and contrast techniques. The results of this literature study found that emergency room nurses are prone to burnout, especially on emotional exhaustion dimension. Coping strategies that are often used by emergency room nurses are planful problem solving, seeking social support, and positive reappraisal which are effective coping in dealing with problems and modifying attitudes. Problem focused coping is associated with low risk of experiencing burnout. Training in the use of appropriate coping strategies in burnout prevention for emergency room nurses should be done so that work errors reduced and service quality improved.

Abstract

The level of teachers' disaster preparedness in schools is one thing that influences the impact of disasters on children with disabilities, especially earthquakes, which can occur at any time, including during school hours. Therefore, this study aims to determine the description of earthquake disaster preparedness for special school teachers. This study used a quantitative descriptive method with a total sample of 37 teachers at Cileunyi State SLB, and the total sampling technique used was this study. Preparedness measurement for SLB teachers uses instruments modified according to research needs. Data analysis with frequency distribution and results were grouped into ready and unprepared categories. The results showed that 86.5% of teachers were categorized as 'ready'. The best preparedness parameter is disaster knowledge, while the lowest is disaster warning. From the study results, it can be concluded that most SLB teachers are categorized as ready to face earthquake disasters. However, it is expected that efforts to improve aspects of disaster warning can be carried out, such as providing disaster warning tools, especially for children with disabilities.

Abstract

The Covid-19 quarantine policy and mobility restriction were carried out to break coronavirus transmission. These were implemented for several months to affect the quality of life, especially in patients with diabetes mellitus. To overcome this, technology such as applications with artificial intelligence can be used. This literature aims to identify the use of Artificial Intelligence systems in managing diabetes mellitus during pandemics. This review conducted a narrative review method. Articles were searched using databases, such as PubMed, Science Direct, and EBSCO. The keywords were based on the medical subheading (MeSH) term and combined using a boolean operator. Articles were selected using inclusion criteria, namely the year of publication between 2016-2021, articles in English, full text, and open access. The articles that were duplicated and articles that did not fit the research topic were excluded. We found that six articles met the criteria. These discussed four programs, namely diabetes retinopathy screening, blood glucose monitoring, lifestyle management programs, and insulin therapy guidelines. The four programs can be used in the home care services for diabetes mellitus patients during the Covid-19 pandemic

Abstract

Cancer occurs due to the addition of mass in body cells that can spread and cause death. The problems arising from cancer are physical, psychological, and spiritual problems. Spiritual intervention is essential and valuable as one of the treatment efforts in dealing with issues caused by cancer. However, there are obstacles where nurses still need to be exposed to much information about spiritual intervention. The purpose of this study was to obtain an overview of spiritual intervention in cancer patients. This study uses the Scoping Review method. Literature review through Ebsco, Pubmed, Science Direct, and Sage Journals databases. The keywords used in English are Cancer, Spiritual intervention,” AND “Spiritual needs OR spiritual experience OR spirituality”. The criteria for articles in this study are full text, free access, randomized control trial or quasi-experiment research design, English language, population and samples of cancer patients, and the publication period of the last ten years (2013-2022). Found ten articles with different spiritual interventions on cancer patients. Two papers with mindfulness intervention, an article with a spiritual counselling intervention, 3 with spiritual intervention, 2 with spiritual therapy intervention, and 2 with spiritual care intervention. Five spiritual interventions for cancer patients can overcome problems caused by cancer, namely mindfulness, spiritual counselling, spiritual intervention, spiritual therapy, and spiritual care. Spiritual counselling is a very effective intervention because it is carried out intensively and comprehensively to maximize the psychological well-being of cancer patients.

Abstract

The meningococcus vaccine is a vaccine that must be given to all people traveling to Saudi Arabia. This vaccine was needed in 2006 due to the meningococcus disease outbreak in Saudi Arabia from 1987-2003 and the disease infected pilgrims. Saudi Arabia reported an increase in the incidence of meningitis as many as 225 cases with 56 deaths, and it was reported that the number of Indonesian pilgrims was 14 cases of meningitis, with six died in Saudi Arabia. There are three people suspected of contracting meningitis during the Hajj season 2017 in West Sumatra. The Port Health Office (KKP) reported that out of 1228 total meningitis vaccination visits, 245 people (19.95%) were vaccinated less than 30 days before departure. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the level of knowledge and attitudes of prospective Umrah pilgrims with meningitis vaccination compliance. Quantitative method research with a cross-sectional research design with accidental sampling technique with a sample of 37 people at the Padang Port Health Office (KKP) in August 2019. The research instrument used a questionnaire through interviews and computerized processing techniques. The results showed that 70.3% of the Umrah pilgrims had a low level of knowledge, 54.1% of the pilgrims had negative attitudes, and 56.8% of the congregation respondents did not comply with the meningitis vaccination. It is hoped that the Padang City Port Health Office will increase the provision of information or socialization related to the timeliness of the meningitis vaccination for prospective Umrah pilgrims.
