Abstract

Merantau is activity when someone is leaving his/her residence area to the other are that far from his/her residence area. Many college students is far from their residence area for study. In their daily activities, there are many problems that have to be faced because the differentiation of their own culture and at the end it creates stress. The aim of this study is to gain the description about stres that felt by the college students who go far from their own residence area for study. Participant of this study is a female college student. The result shows that stress symptoms happened to the participant area sleep problem, mood problem, and skin problem. The academic stressors are transportation problem, adaptation problem, the task from lecturers, and the use of college facilities. The family problems are about health and her little boy. The economic stressor is about living alowences. And, the environmental stresso are about socialization and adaptation problems in the neighbourhood. Key words: stress, merantau, college students

Abstract

The aim of this study is to gain a comprehensive description about the acceptance of parents with autism children and their role in austism therapy. The approach of this study is a qualitative study with interview and observation as tools of research. The participants of this study are three parents with autism children. The result shows that all the participants already accepted the fact that their children has autism. Factors influencing the acceptance are support from the big family, finacial factor, religion background, educational level, marital status age and support from expert and the society. All the participants have significant role in handling their children from make sure for the diagnose, looking for good doctor and also build good communication with the doctor, etc.Key words: parents acceptance, autism children, parents role in therapy

Abstract

For most women, age over 25 is the right moment to get married to fulfill one of her developmental task. Because of that, backstreet dating behavior usually done by person in order to keep maintenance the relationship before marriage. The aim of this study is to get comprehensive description about why an adult women fight to keep her backstreet dating behavior. This case study has a 30 years old women who still running in backstreet dating behavior as a participant. The result shows that participant does this backstreet behavior because of reasons such as the differences in religion, age, educational and job background. She maintenances the relationship because (1) that is the first time she had a boyfriend, (2) she has storage-fragma type of love, so she really commit to the relationship, and (3) the caring of her boyfriend.Key words: backstreet dating behavior, colors of love

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease characterized by high levels of glucose in the blood that called hyperglycemia. The high level of blood glucose in diabetic patients is result from defects in insulin action. Diabetes mellitus that uncontrolled can cause acute and chronic complication such as heart diseases, hyperglycemia coma, and hypoglycemia coma. Diabetes mellitus patient must do four things in diabetes management for controlling this disease: monitoring blood level, diet, exercise, and medication.Diabetes mellitus patient has more difficulties to follow dietary advice than other diabetes mellitus management. One of the reason for diabetes mellitus patient doesn’t comply to their dietary advice is their emotional state. Changing in his/her life style if they follow dietary advice can cause negative emotion and conflict on their selves.This research was qualitative research. The researcher used indepth interview as the main instrument.. The subjects were one woman and two men, age over 45 years old, and had been diagnosed diabetes mellitus for more than six months. Indepth interview with subject’s significant others, who guided subjects to do diabetes mellitus management became a way in triangulation. The results of this research showed that three subjects had negative emotion when they followed diet for the first time. They tried to regulate their emotion in order to get homeostatic emotion, so they could follow dietary advice successfully.Keywords: diabetes mellitus, compliance, diet, emotion
