Abstract

Health services in the form of information technology are needed to advance health services. Applications for child development are very necessary during the pandemic because of the limitations of direct visits by health workers to residents' homes, so an android application is needed as a screening method to determine child growth and development so that it can detect developmental delays in children from an early age. This study uses the Denver II test to design an android application to determine the growth and development of children aged 0-5 years. The design of the application system starts with observations and interviews, after which the process of designing and making an offline-based android application programming system is carried out. This application has been tested pretest and posttest on 30 mothers who have children aged 0-5 years. The Wilcoxon test carried out these results with a 0.000 <0.005, so there is a difference between the pretest and posttest knowledge results. The conclusion is that parents can use this application to monitor the growth and development of children aged 0-5 years

Abstract

Emerging infectious diseases are infectious diseases that appear and increase so rapidly that they can be said to be epidemics or non-natural disasters. As the front line, nurses are faced with uncertainties that increase the risk of exposure to disease, so preparedness is needed. This study aims to analyze the factors that affect the preparedness of emergency nurses in dealing with patients with emerging infectious diseases. This study is a correlational analytic study involving 109 emergency nurses in Bali. Data were collected through an online survey using a general questionnaire on demographic factors, a questionnaire on nurses' knowledge of EID, and a questionnaire on nurse preparedness in dealing with EID that had been tested for validity and reliability. The results of the bivariate analysis using the Spearman rank test showed that only the availability of personal protective equipment (p-value 0.007, p < α (0.05) and nurses' knowledge had a significant correlation with emergency nurse preparedness in dealing with patients with emerging infectious diseases (p-value 0.005, p < α (0.05). Therefore, it can be suggested to the hospital management in providing opportunities for emergency nurses to receive training related to emergencies in dealing with emerging infectious diseases and increase the assurance of the availability of adequate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Abstract

Dental crowding is one form of malocclusion characterized by disparities between the size of the tooth and the arc dimension. It is commonly found in the anterior region. Keeping the crowded and misaligned tooth is hard, leading to more plaque accumulation and increasing the risk of gingival inflammation. This research aims to find the effects of anterior dental crowding on the Oral Hygiene Index-Simplified (OHI-S) and Gingival Index scores of Poltekkes Kemenkes Kupang students. This is a cross-sectional study performed by observational analytical study design. The population was the student of Poltekkes Kemenkes Kupang with anterior crowding. Using 70 samples were chosen using purposive sampling technique. The result showed that most of the students had moderate anterior crowding (45.7%), followed by mild crowding (30%) and severe crowding (20%). The chi-square test showed a significant effect of anterior crowding toward OHI-S (p=0.03) and GI scores (p=0.04). While Socio-economical aspect also showed a significant effect (p=0.00) on OHI-S scores. A significant effect of socioeconomic status was also recorded on GI score (p=0.00). An observation of the students' oral hygiene intention showed that they mostly had a moderate intention (72.9%) to keep their mouth clean, and the rest, 27.1% had high oral hygiene intention. This aspect also significantly affects their scores of OHI-S (p=0.00) and GI (p=0.01). This study concluded that anterior crowding, socioeconomic status, and oral hygiene intention can affect OHI-S and GI scores of the students of Poltekkes Kemenkes Kupang

Abstract

Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease that attacks the lungs and is caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The GeneXpert RT-PCR examination (Xpert MTB / RIF) is a development of a diagnostic tool that can automatically detect the presence of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) by molecular examination and can be used to detect MTB resistance to rifampicin. Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) is a test used to determine the rate at which erythrocytes settle in the blood. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between GeneXpert RT-PCR results and ESR in suspected tuberculosis patients. This research uses a cross-sectional study. The sample used in this study were 56 new suspected TB patients who had never been treated for ATD and underwent GeneXpert RT-PCR examination. Sampling was carried out by purposive sampling with the TCM Rif Sen group and negative results. A total of 27 patients (96.4%) with Rif Sen's GeneXpert RT-PCR results had high ESR values. 15 patients (53.6%) with negative GeneXpert RT-PCR results had normal ESR values. The results of the Chi Square test (X2) show that p-value = 0.000 OR = 0.032. There is a significant relationship between GeneXpert and ESR values in suspected tuberculosis

Abstract

Mother's milk's nutritional content shields the infant's immune system, allowing for healthy growth and development. Because breastfeeding has positive health effects for both mother and child, it is strongly advised during the early stages of pregnancy. The truth of the matter is that a lot of mothers still struggle to exclusively breastfeed their children for the whole six months. Hypnobreastfeeding and lactation massage are two strategies that can help people who want to exclusively breastfeed get past their obstacles. This study sought to ascertain the impact of lactation massage and hypnobreastfeeding on breastfeeding mothers' ability to produce milk in the independent Palembang midwife's practice. The design of this study was a quasy experimental design with a pre-test post-test control group design technique in which 60 postpartum mothers were divided into two groups. The intervention group (n = 30) underwent hypnobreastfeeding and lactation massage as a sort of therapy and continued with measurements of breast milk and the control group (n = 30) did not receive any treatment or intervention. Questionnaires, checklists, guides for using hypnobreastfeeding and lactation massage, as well as breast pumps to measure milk supply, were the devices employed. With asymptotic statistical values, the results demonstrated that the delivery of hypnobreastfeeding therapy and lactation massage in the intervention group compared to the control group had a significant impact on milk production. Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.001, and the average increase in milk production between the intervention group and the control group was 25.03 ml compared to 8.56 ml.

Abstract

In basic clinical laboratories, the availability of chemicals to create a test solution (reagent) is frequently limited or non-existent, delaying the sample inspection procedure. In medical laboratories, the inability to create a test solution with a certain chemical compound is a common constraint. The components of Turk's reagent are glacial acetic acid, gentian violet, and distilled water. The chemical glacial acetic acid, which is required to prepare Turk's reagent for leukocyte count testing, is frequently unavailable. To confirm that the counting of leukocytes may still be performed, it is required to find a readily available replacement to glacial acetic acid solution in turk solution that serves the same purpose. This study was done to investigate the viability of substituting extract Citrus limon for glacial acetic acid in the production of Turk's solution for the measurement of leukocyte counts. The study was developed as an experiment and conducted at Prof. Dr. Hamka's Medical Laboratory Technology Laboratory at Muhammadiyah University in Jakarta. In this investigation, a total of 30 blood samples containing the anticoagulant Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) were utilized. The samples were separated into three treatment groups, each containing 10 samples: lemon treatments with concentrations of 2%, 3%, and 4%. Comparing the results of the study with those of controls using Turk solution revealed that lemon juice can be substituted for glacial acetic acid in Turk solution for determining the number of leukocytes, with a concentration of 2% being optimal.

Abstract

There have been 85 million pregnancies worldwide are unplanned pregnancies. Of these unwanted pregnancies, 38% ended in abortions, miscarriages, and unplanned deliveries. Efforts to prevent unwanted pregnancies have been attempted in various ways by various parties. At the beginning of 2022, based on media exploration for the Play Store and YouTube applications, we found several applications and videos related to preparing for a healthy pregnancy. Search results from various online media have not specifically focused on the role of men (prospective fathers) in preparing for a healthy pregnancy. With the preparation of healthy pregnancies by men as prospective fathers, it is hoped that the pregnancy occurring can be properly prepared and planned. This study used a quasi-experimental method. The research was conducted at one Community Health Center in the East Jakarta Region. Respondents were prospective grooms (fathers) who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The number of respondents was 96 people. The research instrument used was a pre-and post-intervention questionnaire. The treatment given to respondents was providing educational media using video and leaflet media—analysis of research data using univariate analysis, chi-square, and different tests (independent T-test). Two of the respondent's characteristic variables have a significant relationship with the respondent's level of knowledge about healthy pregnancy preparation, namely education level (P value 0.000) and history of information exposure ((P value 0.000). Two of the respondent's characteristic variables have a significant relationship with the respondent's participation in pregnancy preparation healthy, namely the level of income (P value 0.000) and history of information exposure ((P value 0.05). There is a significant difference (<0.000) in the mean level of knowledge and level of participation of respondents in preparation for healthy pregnancies before and after providing education. The group using the media Video-based education has a higher mean participation rate than the group using leaflets (significance <0.05).
