Abstract

Alar is one of retardation, which accelerates the growth of aksiler shoots, shortens stem joint and strengthens the stem. Alar addition into the medium is assumed to be able to increase the success of Chrysanthemum tissue culture in quantity and quality. The objectives of the research was to finding the best of media to producing a shorter plantlet and has a big stem diameter and the best of number shoots. The research was done in Biotechnology Laboratory of Agriculture Faculty of Tribhuwana Tunggadewi University of Malang. The research was established on January to Juny, 2009. The research used Factorial Complete Random Design, which consists of 2 factors. Factor I: Concentration of Alar was 0 mg/l (A0), 1.0 mg/l (A1) and 2.0 mg/l (A2). Factor II: Concentration of Benzylzdenine (BA) was 1.0 mg/l (B1), 2.0 mg/l (B2) and 3.0 mg/l (B3). There were 9 treatment combinations and repeated 4 times. The observation done on parameter: when the shoot grows, leaf number, shoot number, plantlet height, stem diameter, when the root grows, root number, and acclimatization success percentage. The result of the research showed that the adding of Alar and BA into Chrysanthemum micro-propagation medium had influence on the all parameters. 2.0 mg/l Alar application combined with 1.0 mg/l BA (A2B1) produced shorter plantlet (2.73 cm), bigger stem diameter plantlet (0.20 cm), and produced a better shoot number (20.25 shoots/explant) by the 10th week of culture

Abstract

This research was conducted at Field Laboratory of BPT-HMT Singosari Malang. The objectives of current research were to identifity respond, onset and duration of female Etawah crossbreed goat estrus in estrus phase. Eight female Etawah crossbreed goats with live weight of 32.5  2.5 kg were used in this research which feed with 3 kg King Grass and 1 kg concentrate in a day during the research. In order to estrus synchronization, intravagina Controlled Internal Drug Release (CIDR) was implanted in female Etawah crossbreed, then injecting with PGF2. Method used in current research was experimental with purposive sampling. Parameters used in this research were : 1) respond estrus, 2) onset estrus, 3) duration estrus. The results on estrus synchronization used implanted of intravagina Controlled Internal Drug Release (CIDR) showed that respond, onset and duration of female Etawah crossbreed estrus gave a respond estrus of 100% with normal estrus cycle

Abstract

Research was aimed at: 1) analyzing the effect of imported soybean tariff policy on demand, supply, price and import of soybean, 2) analyzing import tariff policy of soybean and effects on related economic units’ welfare that covered producer, consumer, and government. Secondary data being used, involving time series of years 1969-2002, analyzed by simultaneous equity system using 2 SLS, continued by analyses of policy simulation and welfare distribution. Import tariff policy produces some effects such as decrease total demand, declined demand for tempe industry, increased demand for tahu industry, decreased demand for ketchup industry, reduced demand for seed, improved supply, decreased farmer level price, inclined wholesale price, increased imported price and descended import. Welfare distribution analysis display that import tariff influences the improvement of producer’s surplus and government’ income but yields in reduced consumers surplus and economic inefficiency of production and consumption. Higher import tariff implicates higher economic inefficiency as shown by higher netto effect value, showing the decrease of total welfare rate. The most suitable import tariff policy connects to 30% because ratio value of producer’s and consumer’s surplus and ratio of government income and consumer’s surplus remain highest compared to other alternatives

Abstract

Snack fruit var. pondoh is one of perishable horticultural product its shelf life at room temperature is about of 6-7 days. This fruit is categorized as non climacteric based on its respiration type. Snack fruit should be ripe before harvesting and during storage does not undergo further ripening process. It has high respiratory rate that caused fast senescence. This research was aimed to determine harvesting time to obtain good quality and long shelf life of snack fruit. Also, it was objected to elucidate the effect of wax coatingon quality changes during storage. The harvesting time of snack fruit was 5, 6 and 7 month after pollination. The observations consisted on phisico-chemical characteristics of snack fruit. Wax coating (10%) was used to protect the fruits during storage. Glucose, fructose, sucrose and tannin was determined after harvesting. The quality of snack fruits was assesed by panelists independently. The results showed that the best harvesting time of snack fruit was 6 months after pollination. Wax coating influenced the fruit quality and also could inhibit declining of sugar and tannin content of fruit. Wax coating could improve the quality of fruits during storage up to 2 weeks

Abstract

Herbal medicine has been traditionality administrated to ruminants thoghout east java. It is generally believed that administration of such a medicine would improve feed intake and general condition of animal health. Nevertheless, there is pancity in the literature dealing with mechanism, by which the herbal medicine influence apetite and health. This preliminary study aimed at evaluating the effect of herbal medicine (produced by PT. Air Mancur) administration towards diurnal its subsequence influence on feed digestibility and nitrogen balance. Six rams weighing om average 9.82 1,75 kg BB0.75 (approximately 10 month old) were panned individually in the wooden-slatted cage. Each animal was equipped with a rumen cannula. In the first period all animal were fed with a diet consisted of Cynodon plectostachyus, Brachiaria decumbens and Panicum maximum c.v. Petrie hay (DM to 2,5% BW), plus commercial concentrate (30 g/kg BW0,75). Following the cessation of period I, the animals were administered 2,82 g/kg BW0,75 from the recommended dose of herbal medicine per day for 20 concecutive days wherw all parameters measured in period I were repeated. The result indicates that the average of NH3 concentration, pH, dry matter digestibility, organic matter digestibility (in-vitro and in-sacco) was very significantly different (P
