Abstract

The study was based on students' high motivation for gadgets but low in learning. The renewal of learning based on active, innovative, creative, efficient and fun learning (PAIKEM) that is the Flipped Classroom model and additional variables (motivation) is required to improve the process of critical thinking skills and student learning outcomes. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness and influence of the Flipped Classroom Model towards the ability to think critically and student science learning outcomes of students by increasing their motivation. The method used in this study was an experiment with the Control Group Post-test – Only Design. The sample comprised of 121 students from 4 elementary schools in Pati. The data collection consisted of performance tests to measure critical thinking skills and learning outcomes while questionnaires to measure student’s learning motivation. The data were analyzed using the average difference test and single line regression. The analysis result of the average difference test showed that Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 and result of single line regression Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 (sig < 0.05). The results in this study showed that Model Flipped Classroom learning is effective in improving the ability of critical thinking, science learning outcomes and student motivation, there is positive influence between learning motivation and critical thinking skills and student learning outcomes science.

Abstract

The observation results at 27 elementary school students indicate that the learning process did not yet support the development of students' creative thinking abilities. Students who recognize cultural diversity will tend to have creative thinking ability. Unfortunately, culture utilization as a source of learning in the school was not optimal, so students were less familiar with the culture in their area. But, creative thinking through learning Project-based Learning (PjBL) model by using local wisdom resource will help students to improve their abilities. This study aims to determine the application of PjBL with science aspects related to community culture (ethnoscience) and the creative thinking abilities improvement of elementary school students. This experimental research design used a pre-test and post-test design control group. The research sample consisted of students fifth-graders Public Elementary School 2 Majasari and Public Elementary School 3 Majasari. Data collection used observation techniques, written tests, questionnaires, and documentation. The positive findings in the normalized gain test analysis of the experimental class and the control class showed a moderate increase of 0.4 and 0.3. The increase in students' creative thinking abilities in the experimental class was higher than in the control class. The results of the study concluded that the application of ethnoscience based PjBL could improve students' creative thinking abilities.

Abstract

One strategy that can be done by the teachers to identify fine motoric and art skills is by using brush away technique. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of abdominal brush away activities, to identify the advantages of brush away with other fine motoric activities in fine motoric and art skills of early childhood, and to know the difficulties of children in brush away activities. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection techniques using observation sheet instruments include anecdotal records and interviews. The data analysis in this study is using triangulation method through the description of the observation sheet. The results of this study are brush away technique makes it easy to identify fine motor and art skills for the early childhood, the advantage of brush away is there are some achievements in fine motor and art development in one activity, the children feel difficulty when they are cutting and rubbing the color with the fingers in brush away. In this research, it was found out brush away had just been introduced to the children, so some of them are not perfect when coloring in brush away activities by their fingers. The benefits of this research are as additional new knowledge in identifying fine motor and art skills for kindergarten and as a reference for future research.

Abstract

This research is based on the students’ learning achievement in science subject of water cycle topic, which was quite difficult for the students. One of the obstacles facing the teacher was learning media that were lacking updates in relevance to current development. The objectives of this research are to develop, to test the validity, to analyze the effectiveness and the practicality of Unity 3D learning media. Research and Development design based on Borg and Gall is used in this research. The product validity test was carried out by experts through data analysis technique in the form of percentages. The product effectiveness test was carried out with a wide-scale trial using a quasi-experimental design through data analysis technique of students’ learning outcomes improvement by using the n-gain test and students’ ICT literacy with percentages, as well as differences in learning outcomes through t-tests. The product practicality test was done by distributing questionnaires for students’ responses by using a data analysis technique in the form of percentages. The results of this research showed that the validation assessment conducted by media experts was 93.1% and by material experts was 87.5%, with very valid criteria. The effectiveness of the product with the n-gain test was 43% (moderate), and the increase in students' ICT literacy was 12%. There was a significant difference in the post-test result of the experimental and control class through the t-test of 4.3%. The practicality of media was 89% (very practical), based on students’ responses. From those results, it can be concluded that the Unity 3D learning media is effective and practical for improving learning outcomes and ICT literacy for fifth-grade elementary school students.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to test the effectiveness of PjBL model by using Science KIT to improve students' confidence and problem-solving skills. This research is done by using a quasi-experimental design with a type of non-equivalent control group design. The research subjects were 50 fifth grade students from Elementary School 02 Krompeng and Elementary School 01 Kalirejo. Data on students’ self-confidence and problem-solving skills assessment are collected through observation and tests. Using N-Gain analysis and t-test. Research results show that there are different results in terms of self-confidence attitudes between groups of students who follow PjBL model with Science KIT and the other groups of students who follow PjBL learning model, obtained a value (tvalue = 37.12 > ttable = 1.68), there are differences in learning outcomes as well, in terms of problem-solving skills between groups of students who follow PjBL learning model with Science KIT with groups of students who follow PjBL learning model, it is proven post-test result obtained in experimental class is 74.96 while in the control class is 60.72 (tvalue = 19.55 > ttable = 1.71). The results of this research are beneficial for teachers as an overview of condition self-confidence and problem-solving skills that can be taken into consideration in planning the lesson.
