Al Munir Journal of Islamic Communication and Broadcasting is open access and peer review of journals published by the Communication and Islamic Broadcasting Study Program of the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication Sciences, Imam Bonjol Padang State Islamic University (UIN). This journal covers actual issues in Islamic communication studies, including the development of contemporary da'wah by utilizing media, Islamic information systems, rhetoric, literature, and government policies regarding broadcasting and information regulation. The purpose of this journal is to promote sharing of knowledge and understanding of communication issues. Then receive contributions from experts, researchers, practitioners and policy makers throughout the world. This journal is published periodically twice a year, precisely in January - June and July - December.

Abstract

The performance can be described as an assessment of the ability of an organization in achieving goals. Performance assessment can be used to measure the activities of a company or organization in the achievement of goals and also as material for future improvement. Performance can also mean job performance, achievements holding something. Organizational performance is a performance and implementation process in which organizational goals to be achieved. In the context of this assessment, the definition of performance is to see to what extent the achievements in the achievement of the performance of government agencies in achieving the goals set based on performance indicators. Thus, performance measurement is a useful tool in efforts to achieve the objectives, performance measurement can be done through the process of assessment of the achievement of objectives and performance measurement can provide an objective assessment in management decisions. Performance measurement can help to increase quality and lower costs arising from government activities

Abstract

This discourse aims to describe that crisis of public trust on government can be improved by government public relations management with consistency of all government officials to communicate or portray themselves as public servants and above the public interest, and can ultimately achieve prosperous society development. Public relations management has not been optimal, there has been no organized effort from each agency to communicate government policies which are the main tasks and functions that must be carried out. This happens because of several aspects such as; (1) the low position of public relations in an agency and public relations are not treated as an important part for the agency (echelonization which is not directly under the leadership of the agency); (2) the absence of a strategic design and implementation of public relations programs to help leaders make decisions; (3) the lack of human resources capable of implementing government public relations programs; (4) the behavior of government officials is incompatible with the program / policy set by the government itself.

Abstract

The effort to build participatory Indonesia has now been replaced by the role of the authorities and businessmen who act more as corrupt, which has been used to inflate the price of development projects, in the name of change, but what is done, is fake changes. In such a situation, action must be immediately initiated rescue. This country requires communicators (leaders, teachers, professors, employees, journalists, students, community leaders, and religious) are able to package a message to arise the spirit of unity and the spirit of life in the new context is strong new social software to hold on social change dynamics sustain through social change, communication development energy.

Abstract

Ma’badong is one of the Toraja ethnic culture that is still carried out. Ma’badong is one of the rituals of the Rambu Solo’ which was originally performed by adherents of Aluk Todolo confidence. Tana Toraja culture is inseparable from the early belief that the Toraja Aluk Todolo (ancestral spirits adore). This study aims to determine the meaning of denotation, connotation and myth contained in cultural Ma’badong. This type of research is a qualitative study using Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis. The research results show that Ma’badong within the meaning of denotation is derived from the Toraja language Ma' means "do", so Ma’badong means doing dances and singing Badong. Denotation meaning can only be viewed from the standpoint of empirical Ma’badong like movement, costume colors namely black, a place of execution, place, cutting the buffalo at least 3 buffaloes, duration, and poetry. Ma’badong in connotation meaning is sorrow dancing and singing held in death ceremony (Rambu Solo') to commemorate the biographies of those who died and begged blessing. Ma’badong within the meaning of myth in Barthes concept associated with abstinence and traditional stories of the past or of the mystical and the supernatural in the life of Toraja tribe cannot be denied its existence. The meaning of the myth of Ma’badong drawn from myth to not carelessly make Ma’badong, must wear a black costume for Ma’badong and sacrifice the animal in Rambu Solo’ ceremony.

Abstract

Caring behavior of nurses in implementing therapeutic communication in hospital X, South Sulawesi aims a) to determine the process of caring behavior of nurses in therapeutic communication and interaction seen from pre nurse orientation effects on the client and the nurse caring behavior seen in Therapeutic communication interaction and orientation of the pre-nursing on the client in the Hospital X South Sulawesi. The results showed that a) the application of the caring behavior of nurses with a current client application on therapeutic communication in pre interaction section, the nurses must prepare before meeting with clients such as reading the report books of client, hen introductory phase or orientation. The orientation phase is an early stage start interacting with clients at the start with regards to the client's condition and asking non-verbal and verbal language greetings terminated. b) While the effects of nurse caring behavior performed by the client when performing therapeutic communication received a positive response from the client or the client's family, because as long as the client is treated with good care so that clients are able to realize self-acceptance because of unnoticed.

Abstract

Interpersonal communication in the process of recovering from a patient in a mental hospital of Dr. H.B Saanin Padang is very unique, because every different communication activities undertaken in accordance with the communication situation. Interpersonal communication essentially human relationship has entered a stage of psychological conducted between giving health services and inpatient psychiatric mental hospital Dr. H.B Saanin Padang. To see the healing process associated with people who have different psychological retardation. Research methodological approach to be conducted is qualitative constructivist approach to ethnographic analysis of communication. The process of communication between health care providers and patients hospitalized in the healing process in a mental hospital Dr. H.B Saanin Padang in interactive, transactional and dynamic are for the patient who is recovering medically. Form of verbal messages through oral and written speech on bulletin boards, message-shaped form of kinesis and prosaic nonverbal messages, display or factual, and paralinguistic. Ethnography of communication visible component is the genre or type of communication that has different according to the context of the communication, the topic of communication events refers to the type of communication, the communication settings that affect social functioning, communication participant: those involved in communication, verbal and nonverbal forms of messaging, content of the message: explanation and conversation in any type of communication, follow the sequence refers to the form of messages and message content in each event communication and must be done every day, interaction; behavior rules or the action that must be done, interpretation norm; written and unwritten norm that are done by health care providers and hospitalized patients in mental hospital of Dr. H.B Saanin Padang

Abstract

One of social sciences  approach is a Critical Theory, which emerged as the release of economic determinism of orthodox Marxism. This approach seeks to reinvigorate philosophical thought of Karl Marx as the true revolutionary thinking. Georg Lukács was the first person who bring back the insights Hegelian dialectics in Marxism. Lukács rejected the economic determinism ('Marxisme Vulger') and more concerned with the processes of human consciousness in the life. The famous  thoughts from Lukács are ; reification, insight 'totality', the disclosure of 'positivism' and 'sociology contemplative' as an ideology that affirm the 'false' reality of bourgeois society, 'the unity of theory and praxis', the theory of 'revolutionary' and the task of 'objective' history.  Those thought  became the foundation of critical thinking in Communication Studies.
