There is no relationship between the amount of pocket money (p= 0.225) and the incidence of overweight in urban adolescent. Suggestion: 1) Urban adolescent need to understand the incidence of overweight and the factors that influence it in order to take steps to prevent overweight independently 2) For the department of health, public health center and the school need to promote prevention programs in adolescent nutrition for adolescent to have normal nutritional status.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijphs.v2i3.2893

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study examined the role of Self-esteem, Gender, family communication style, and Parental neglect on aggressive tendencies among secondary school adolescents’ in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State. A total of two hundred and forty (240) secondary school adolescents drawn from 9 private and 3 public schools in Esan West Local government Area of Edo state participated in the study.  One hundred and forty of the participants were males, while one hundred were females. A questionnaire was used in collecting data. The questionnaire consisted of five sections; the demographic variables, Family communication style, Parental neglect, Self-esteem, and Aggressive tendencies. Results of the multiple regression analysis revealed that only self-esteem, independently predict aggressive tendencies. Family communication style, gender and parental neglect were not found to independently predict aggressive tendencies. However, self-esteem, gender, family communication, parental neglect jointly predict aggressive tendencies among secondary school adolescents. Based on the findings of this study, it is recommended that the future of a successful intervention by therapist/service providers for students with aggressive behaviour in Nigeria lies heavily on knowing and identifying the personal and family characteristics of the individual. This no doubt would help the therapists in managing individuals with specific treatment.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijphs.v2i3.2873

The results showed that knowledge has significant influence on breastfeeding practice among the non working mothers (beta= .21, p= .01). MSG may be a suitable method to promote breastfeeding among Indonesian mothers.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijphs.v2i3.3051

Abstract

The immune status of 25 HIV-positive children with Acute Rhinosinusitis (ARS) has been studied in comparison with the control group of 14 practically healthy children of the same age. HIV-infected patients with ARS have shown deep infringements of the immune status, especially of T-cells and its subpopulations, and impairments of the humoral immunity, suppression of anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10 and increase of pro-inflammatory IFN-γ. After conducted treatment we have not seen any certain changes of the immune status in HIV positive patients, even in the cases with clinical improvement. It is possible to ascertain only positive changes of IL-10 maintenance and parallel decrease of IFN-γ in the dynamics of treatment.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijphs.v2i3.2904

Abstract

General health has been associated with many variables that from most important can be noted Life Style, Coping Strategies and Religiosity. This study examined the relationship between life style, coping strategies, religiosity and general health among Iranian students. This cross sectional study was conducted on 180 students 15-17 year olds who were selected via multi step cluster sampling method design from schools in the Varamin suburb, Iran in 2013. All students completed the questionnaires of life style, coping strategies, religiosity and general health and regression was used for data analyses. The statistical analysis revealed a positive relationship between life style, problem solving strategy and internal religiosity with general health (P<0.01) and a negative relationship between emotional coping strategy with general health (P<0.05). Life style, internal religiosity and problem-focused strategy predicted 32 percent of variance of general health and also share of life style in prediction general health was over of other variables. These results highlight the importance in considering life style at further understanding general health in students.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijphs.v2i3.3940

Abstract

Although both the electronic health record (EHR) and the electronic medical record (EMR) store an individual’s computerized health information and the terminologies are often used interchangeably, there are some differences between them. Three primary approaches in Automated Identification Technology (AIT) are barcoding, radio frequency identification (RFID), and biometrics. In this paper, technology intelligence, progress, limitations, and challenges of EHR/EMR are introduced. The applications and challenges of barcoding, RFID, and biometrics in EHR/EMR are presented respectively.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijphs.v2i3.3300
