Abstract

Hemodialysis adequacy is an evaluation to measure hemodialysis effectiveness. Quality of life is a human perception of the life of cultural and value aspects where the individual lives in relation to goods, expectations, and standards. Haemodialysis is a therapy process by a renal substitute wearing a semi-permeable membrane that works as a nephron that can release metabolism residual and adjust fluid and electrolyte balance in patients with renal failure. This study aimed to determine the relationship between hemodialysis adequacy and quality of life in hemodialysis patients in the dialysis unit in Rumah Sakit Djasamen Saragih Pematangsiantar. This study used a cross-sectional design with 32 samples. The result shows that patients with inadequate dialysis were 28% (87,5%, and hemodialysis patients with poor quality of life 26 people (81,2%.) The analysis with the SPSS program obtained a statistical value of p <0,05, namely of 0,000 which means that there is a significant correlation between dialysis adequacy and quality of life of hemodialysis patients in Rumah Sakit dr. Djasamen Saragih Pematangsiantar. This result was used to improve the quality of health services and health counseling about dialysis adequacy in Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah dr. Djasamen Saragih Pematangsiantar to increase the patients’ knowledge about dialysis adequacy.

Abstract

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic that occurred in Indonesia caused the learning process in tertiary institutions to change. The learning process in tertiary institutions is required to be mastered in their respective homes. This has an impact on the learning process activities on campus which has 45.5 million students and students are one of the places prone to the spread of the COVID-19 virus. This study aims to determine the effect of using blended learning methods on student motivation in medical-surgical nursing courses during the COVID-19 pandemic. This type of research uses quantitative research with a cross-sectional design approach. The population in this study were all nursing diploma students totaling 160 people. The sample used was purposive sampling in which a sample determination technique was carried out by selecting a sample among the population according to what the researcher wanted as many as 67 people. This research was conducted in June-July 2022. Based on the results of the research conducted, it was found that there was an effect of using the blended learning method on student learning motivation in medical-surgical nursing courses during the COVID-19 pandemic with a p-value of 0.000. The use of blended learning methods can affect student learning motivation. The results of this study are expected to increase student motivation in attending lectures, especially medical-surgical nursing courses.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases that occur due to abnormalities in insulin secretion. Diabetes is not controlled and over time causes serious damage, especially to the nerves and blood vessels. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Active Assistive Range of Motion in reducing KGD in patients with Type II DM. This research is a quantitative study with a quasi-experimental design with one group pretest and posttest design. The population in this study was all elderly people at the Sentosa Baru Health Center, totaling 167 people. The sampling technique was purposive sampling and analysis using the T-test. The results of this study show that the Active Assistive Range of Motion is effective in reducing KGD in type II DM at the UPTD Puskesmas Sentosa Baru with the results showing that the highest KGD before the intervention was 291 mg/dL, the lowest value was 220 mg/dL, after the intervention the highest value was 204 mg. /dL, the lowest value is 190 mg/dL. the results of bivariate analysis using the T-test obtained a p-value of 0.001 or p <0.05. Expected to be information for health workers, especially the implementation of Active Assistive Range of Motion as an effort to reduce KGD in Type II DM patients.
