Abstract

This research is motivated by the low mathematical communication skills of elementary school students who need a learning approach to overcome these problems. The alternative approach used is a scientific approach to peer tutoring. This study aims to examine whether the mathematical communication skills of students who use scientific learning are better than those who use ordinary learning to be reviewed from each stage of the cycle. The research method used is a qualitative method in the form of Classroom Action Research (CAR). In each cycle, learning is given first and then given a test. The population in this study were students of SDN 074 Ayudia Kota Bandung class V, while the sample was VB class. Data collection in this study is in the form of tests in each cycle, then the score data of mathematical communication skills are analyzed by descriptive statistics. Based on the results of the study, the authors concluded that students' mathematical communication skills increased from one cycle to the next.

Abstract

This research already existed before, but this research is different. The purpose of this study is to identify whether there is a positive correlation between habit of mind mathematics and mathematical problem solving abilities of students on the subject two-dimensional figure. This research is classified as quantitative correlational research. The population in this study were all seventh grade students at MTs. Negeri Sumedang 2016/2017 academic year. The sample is class VII D students with purposive sampling technique. The test instrument was a test of mathematical problem solving ability and a mathematical habit of mind attitude scale. The technical data analysis uses simple linear regression analysis. The results of this study are that there is a positive correlation between habit of mind mathematics and mathematical problem solving abilities for middle school students.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the problem of achievement and improved critical thinking skills and dispositions mathematical high school students between those who use the scientific approach to integrating brain based learning with a scientific approach , examining the association between variablesand an overview of student performance. This study is an experimental study with a design pretest-posttest design. Sampling in this study using purposive sampling technique . The instruments used were tests and non-tests , the test instruments included tests of mathematical critical thinking skills while the non-test included attitude scale tests Student mathematical disposition . The results showed that the achievement and improvement of critical thinking skills (CTS) with a scientific approach to integrating Brain-based Learning (SAIBBL) better than class with scientific approach (SA). Mathematical Disposition (MD) student in the classroom with using learning (SAIBBL) better than students in class with SA. There is a strong association between CTS and MD . The overall picture of student performance with SAIBBL is superior and students are more active in learning. These results prove that the use of SAIBBL is better than SAI.

Abstract

This research was aimed at examining the improving mathematical connection and communication ability and self-concept of vocational students through cooperative learning of jigsaw so that they were able to be more motivated in learning mathematics, more understanding mathematics learning itself and to  apply it in everyday life. This research method was a quasi-pretest-posttest experiment that applied a jigsaw cooperative learning model. This study involved two groups of students who  studied about mathematical connection and communication skills and students' self-concepts. The instruments used were in the form of mathematical connection and communication skills, as well as student self-concept questionnaires. The research instruments were firstly tested for validity (logical and empirical), reliability, distinguishing features and the level of difficulty of the questions. The achievement of mathematical connections and communication skills and the self-concept of students who got learning with a scientific approach to the type of cooperative learning model jigsaw was better than students who only learned the scientific approach. In this study there was also an association between the ability of connections with mathematical communication of students in the high category. There was an association between the ability of connections with students' self-concepts in the high category. There was an association between mathematical communication skills and students' self-concepts in the high category.

Abstract

This article was made to describe the results of research in MTS AL-Hikmah II Talegong, Garut Regency with 25 students with the aim of improving the indicator of mathematical connection ability, which is reviewed from each cycle, whether from each cycle there is an increase or decrease, on the indicator which students feel difficulties what kind of student performance can lead to low connections in the field. The method used in this study is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The research phase consists of planning, implementing class actions, observation and evaluation, and reflection. The results of the study were obtained: 1) in the first cycle the achievement of students' mathematical connection skills was only 16.88%, 2) in the second cycle the achievement of mathematical connection skills increased to 54%, 3) while in the third cycle the average mathematical connection ability increased to 69.75%. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that class action research to measure indicators of mathematical connection ability has improved better and achieved completeness in cycle three.

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the role of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach in enhancement, and achievement of Mathematical Creative Thinking Ability (MCTA) in flat side of solid figure of  Pyramid dan Prism learning of Junior High School students’ would improve students’ mathematical creative thinking in terms of students' minimum criteria of mastery learning (KKM). The method used was classroom action research with planning, implementation of the action, evaluation, and reflection design in 3 cycle. The subject of this research was 8th-A graders in SMP BPK Penabur Holis Bandung. The instrument used an essay test on MCTA, observation sheets, and interview sheets. Data analysis was done quantitatively, in quality and descriptive basis. The results showed that: (1) Students ' learning through RME was better than their previous grades, (2) MCTA of students whose study used the RME approach enhancement 32.28% from cycle I to cycle II and 6.45% from cycle II to cycle III, (3) Students' MCTA in each indicator have equalization
