Abstract

Sedimentation in estuaries due to deposition of sediment material by geomorphological process that work. It is therefore necessary to study geomorphological process in order to provide an overview of the mechanisms of sedimentation (the process of sediment transport and deposition of material) that occurred. To determine the geomorphology of the most dominant influence on sedimentation in estuaries, the sediment grain size analysis was performed with a statistical approach, then making the relationship between sediment grain size distribution with populations of sediment occurs. In this study used dataestuary sediment grain size of Banyuasin river taken at three points on the mouth of the river estuary. The analysis showed that the dominant geomorphological process influence on sedimentation in the estuary of Banyuasin is fluvial process, where the transport and deposition of sediment carried by the power flow of the river. This is reflected in the values of statistics and sediment populations. The resulting statistical value indicates the condition of energy (power flow) which produces sediment at this location is relatively large, tend to be unstable and fluctuate rapidly. Sedimentary material that was found is dominated by saltation population, and population of suspension amount is less than 20%. This scale indicates that the river flow velocity of Banyuasin is large enough, so the population of saltation carried in large numbers to and deposited at the mouth of the estuary. Meanwhile, the finer particles (suspension population) will be led further into the sea. Population such conditions describes the characteristic of sediment grain size distribution in the fluvial environment of deposition.

Abstract

Design of concrete structures according to the applicable standard is to use the principle of the planning section of the load moment based on the principles of Bernoulli and Navier. Considered linear strain distribution and is considered still valid even though cross-section has been cracked and the planning sectionof the burden of a separate shear forces with the principle of Vc + Vs. The number of cases for the structural elements that have a fairly complicated shape will cause a problem in its design. This happens to the elements - structural elements such as high beam, corbel, beams with fairly abrupt changes in the dimensions, etc. This is evident from the occurrence of non-linear strain distribution so that it can no longer planned in a standard way. Planning is done sometimes only be approach with the regulations - regulations to existing standards, although sometimes there is a significant difference, one alternative approach to deal with is using Strut and Tie Model approach.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to contribute in engineering consideration especially to study the ability Rhizophora shrub to increase velocity of sedimentation. The research has done using phsycal modelling (prototype refer to Rhizophora aged 4 – 5 years old). Depht obtained by three time measuring with 10 minutes interval to obtain precision f measurement. Model has scale 1:10 base on facility. The result ofresearch shows that Rhizophora shrub can reduce velocity, the depth raise, and the velocity of sedimentation raise.

Abstract

There are several fibers which can be used for improving concrete properties. Such as steel fiber, fiber glass, banana fiber. The objective of this research is to know how Pandan leaf fibers Beach affects to the concrete strength. During the experiment 2.5 mm fibers were mixed to the concrete mortar. The fiber length diameter was 0.2-0.5 mm. The concrete simple size is 15 cm x 15 cm x l60 cm. The cement water factor was 0.45 –0,6. The fiber volume proportion were 0%, 1%, 2%, and 3%.It was observed that those addition increase the strength by 18%, and decrease concrete breaks

Abstract

18 slabs of 100x100x500 mm dimension had been tested to find out the influence of coconut fiber as the additive to the flexural strength of concrete. The water ratio of the concrete mix design was 0,5. The percentation of coconut fiber were 1%, 2%, 3%, 4% and 5% of the volume of the specimen. The result showed that the fiber additional to the concrete cause the strength getting higher as the percentation getting bigger. The flexural strength of 5% the fiber was 30% higher than the slab of the concrete without the fiber.

Abstract

Improper management of land-use activities cause the disruption of bio-physical balance in the watershed, resulting in flooding, drought, sedimentation, etcetera. This led to many losses, both in economic and environmental. To reduce the impacts, implementation of integrated and sustainable watershed management is urgently required. This requires efficient and effective implementing agencies. They should have the similar perception regarding their respective authority in managing the watershed. To avoid conflict of interests among the agencies concerned, determining the boundaries and area of watershed based on bio-physical parameters is absolutely indispensable. The purpose of the study is to delineate the boundary and determine the area of Manjuto watershed in Bengkulu Province, Indonesia. The 4-step procedure is applied, comprises DEM conditioning, flow routing, delineation of watershed boundary and determination of watershed area. Extensive calculations performed by considering the topography of the region. The test using transectlines elevation proved that the result is accurate and consistent with the the oretical definition. Afterward, the result is compared to the existing information. The result shows that Manjunto watershed area is 79,581 hectares or 7.4% smaller than the area defined by the Ministry of Public Work and 29.3% largerthan the area defined by the Ministry of Forestry.
