Abstract

Bogor is a location that belongs to the influence of the Sunda kingdom in the past. This area is often found the remains of the past that are suspected as archaeological artifacts, one of which is a report of urns findings in the  Barengkok village in Leuwiliang District, Bogor Regency. To confirm the findings, the West Java Archaeological center conducted preliminary research and field surveys. The results indicated that the findings of the objects inside the jar are of ceramic fragments, pottery and metals allegedly were collectible items that were deliberately placed in a jar and then buried,  the burial purpose is yet unknown because the remains are not associated with other findings although the location of the findings still has a chance to contain archeological potential since the  classical  sites in Indonesia is often adjacent to the river, on high land and or elevated and oriented to mountains or high places. Advanced research and test pit is a preliminary recommendation that can be done at a later stage.

Nagaratengah Village, Cineam subdistrict, Tasikmalaya Regency in the past have a significant role. In the past, the village was once the capital of Galuh (Ciamis) Regency before it was transferred to Imbanagara. In Imbanagara, the center of Government was named Barunay, this name is the name of the center of Government while in Nagaratengah. Abstract

This study puts forward the problems about the function and role of stones in the megalithic tradition. The purpose of this study reveals the existence of scratched stones andtheir role in a megalithic site. The function and role of bergores stones in the Lampung region can not be separated from the element of worship. Scratched stones are always associated with other findings, namely menhirs, dolmen, flat stones, and sequential stones. Desires and expectations from supporters of megalithic culture to gain strength from ancestral spirits treat bergores stone as one of the complementary means of worship other than other types of megaliths. The form of visualization of interactions carried out with ancestral spirits is poured in the form of scratches.

Abstract

Ceruk Layah is a site that located in Sampung Karst Region, Ponorogo, East Java. Based on the result of excavation conducted by Balai Arkeologi Yogyakarta in the ear of 2000-2002, the finds were dominated by stone artefacts and pottery fragments. Techno-economy study and stone artefacts classification had been done macroscopically. Further analysis is needed to ascertain whether stone tools in Ceruk Layah had been utilized by its occupants. There are three questions, concerning the variation of microware of the flake tools, the utilization of the flake tools, and the resistance of the worked materials on flake tools. This study applies macroscopic and microscopic analysis. Macroscopic analysis aims to determine the dimension, material, distribution, and location of microware of the flake tools. While microscopic analysis aims to identify the microware of flake tools by using low magnification (50 X), and to measure the depth and length of the fracture of the flake tools. The objective of the measurements of the fracture is to distinguish the fracture caused by flaking and utilization of the flake tools. The results of analysis shows that the sixteen pieces of flake tools in the Ceruk Layah carries three microwares which were dominated by fracture, while striation and polish were rarely found. In addition, each flake tool carries fracture that varies on the length and depth. The flake tools of Ceruk Layah might have been used for cutting, whittling, sawing, scraping, and boring. The resistance of the worked material consists of soft resistance, moderate resistance, and hard resistance.
