Abstract

The utilization of wind turbines is able to convert wind energy into electrical energy. It is recorded from the DG of NREEC source that Indonesia has a wind energy potential of 60.6 Giga Watt (GW) with a total renewable energy potential of 442GW. One of the most common types of wind turbines is the horizontal axis wind turbine. This study uses a literature study method that aims to compare and summarize data optimizing variations in the number of blades and wind speed on horizontal axis wind turbines from various sources. The results of the study are known that the pinwheel power generated by the rotation of the pinwheel blade produces energy that is converted into electrical energy. The wind speed and blade rotation yield are directly proportional to the energy produced. The greater the wind speed given to the turbine, the higher the rotation. Variations in the number of blades result in variations in rotational properties, since the effect of the ratio of tip speed is inversely proportional to wind speed. The performance of horizontal axis wind turbines can be optimized by applying blade design using chord and twist linearization methods. The greatest efficiency of the counter-rotational horizontal shaft wind turbine is achieved at a blade angle of 10° and a wind speed of 4.03m/s, resulting in a maximum efficiency of up to 71.8%, which is higher than the optimal single-rotor power coefficient of 59%. This means dual-rotor wind turbines are more efficient at converting energy than single-rotor wind turbines.

Abstract

In everyday life the use of plastic materials is very dominant. The use of this plastic material from year to year has greatly increased, which has resulted in an increase in plastic waste. Various parties have conducted research to reduce plastic waste into something that can have added value, including converting plastic waste into alternative energy sources in the form of fuel. Handling of plastic waste can be done by recycling it by heating it in a reactor so that it becomes liquid oil, then the oil is purified using a distillation apparatus. This study aims to determine the performance of oil refining distillation equipment from the processing of Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) plastic waste which can be used as fuel. The research method used is the performance test for refining oil from the processing of plastic waste which is heated with a distillation apparatus. Testing the plastic oil purification distillation apparatus was carried out 5 times, the test was carried out by means of each oil being put into the reactor totaling 3,500ml each time of testing, from the observations it showed that the results of tests 1 to 5 produced refined oil 1 = 1,592ml, 2 = 1.627ml, 3 = 1.609ml, 4 = 1.616ml, 5 = 1.319ml. The total amount of refined oil is: 7,768ml and the average temperature of the reactor is 184.6oC.

Abstract

The Dwi Hasta lifting crew jack is a tool that assist the car maintenance mechanician. It tool support the car at an elevationfor the maintenance working and lay it down after the mechanician done. The objective of study is to obtain the cost of themanufacturing from production stage to selling. In which, it device is for assisting the mechanician repaired a car. Manufacture system would obtain economic values and production time at one unit. The investigation is started from design, and to the manufacturing system. Regards to the planning of the manufacturing, the production cost, the selling cost, and time of refund are obtained at the cost calculation. The money refund is the production cost will get after selling. The experiment method is conducted at operating process chart (OPC), manufacturing lead time (MLT), production time, production flow, production capacity and break event point (Q). The experiment results showed economic value from raw material to one-unit machine. MLT is of about 53,83 hours. Production time performs is for 346,7 min. Production capacity is 6 units per month. Break Event Point (Q) will be started after 3 months. The profit taking back is Rp 6.181. 964. Money will be payback after 3 month

Abstract

For classic car lovers, the appearance of the Daihatsu Taft in the nineties was no less interesting than today's SUVs. However, the power is not comparable, because the Daihatsu Taft diesel engine still uses old technology. This research is an attempt to improve the performance of old diesel engines, which do not use common rail systems. Specifically, to determine the effect of modifying the size of the plunger of the fuel injection pump, on engine power and torque, fuel consumption and exhaust gas opacity. The analysis was carried out through a comparative study of the performance of standard machines and machines with modified plunger sizes I and II which were larger than the standard plunger diameter. Testing the performance of the machine using a Dastek Dynamometer 2WD Plate Roller. The results showed that the larger the plunger diameter of the injection pump, the effect of increasing power, torque, fuel consumption rate and exhaust gas opacity as well as the efficiency of the Daihatsu Taft DL62 diesel engine. The increase in exhaust gas opacities of modified engines does not exceed and is still far below the maximum threshold according to the Regulation of the State Ministry of Environment No. 5 of 2006 concerning Thresholds of Exhaust Emissions of Old Motor Vehicles. Abstract

Recently, many countries are looking for alternative energy sources that are renewable and environmentally friendly, one of which is wind energy, with Indonesia's wind energy potential of 9 GW and relatively low wind speeds and geographical position, it is necessary to develop wind turbine technology that is suitable for wind characters in Indonesia. In this research, an omnidirectional wind director model (ODGV) is developed around the savonius wind turbine which aims to improve the performance of the savonius wind turbine model. The ODGV consists of several blades that function to direct the wind at 45o  counterclockwise, with the aim of accelerating the flow so as to increase the positive torque of the concave side blades and reduce the negative torque of the convex side blades of the savonius wind turbine model. An open-type wind tunnel was used to test the savonius wind turbine model with ODGVs. Five ODGVs were developed in this study, using 4, 6, 8, 12, and 16 directional blades with a width of 5cm. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The results show that the ODGV can substantially improve the rotor performance, depending on the number of directional blades. The ODGV with 12 directional blades produced the greatest effect on the performance of the savonius wind turbine model at Re = 93269 which could increase the Cp 69.15% more than the savonius wind turbine model without ODGV. As the Reynolds number increases, the ODGV tends to significantly improve the performance of the savonius wind turbine model.

Abstract

The leveling process is the initial stage before operating a lathe. The test will be carried out if the flatness on the machine and the results have deviated greatly, it must be leveled on the lathe. This study aims at a high level of accuracy of machine tools in the form of leveling on three types of Gedee Weiler LZ 330 G lathes located at the AK-Manufaktur Bantaeng Manufacturing Workshop. This type of research is categorized as quantitative research which is an inductive, objective and scientific method in which the data is processed in the form of numbers or statements which are then analyzed. Data from the test results of the M1 lathe with the longitudinal tilt direction towards the off head, while in the transverse position the slope direction is towards the rear slide. Flatness deviation reaches 1.06 mm in the longitudinal position and 0.15 mm in the transverse position. For the M2 lathe, the direction of the longitudinal slope is the direction of the off head, while in the transverse position, the direction of the slope of the fore runway. Deviation of flatness reaches 1.3 mm in the longitudinal position and 1.75 in the transverse position and the M3 lathe with the longitudinal slope direction towards the off head, while in the transverse position the slope direction is towards the front of the runway. Flatness deviation reaches 1.65 mm in the longitudinal position and 10.15 mm in the transverse position.
