Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effect of different 17α-methyltestosterone concentrations toward the ratio of male guppy fish seedlings. This study was implemented in  Laboratory of Local Fish Hatchery of Gandus, Palembang. The research method used was complete random design consisting of 4 treatments and 3 repetitions. The implemented treatments were guppy fish parent soaking in 17α-methyltestosterone solution of various concentrations namely: 0 mg.L-1 (D0), 2.5 mg.L-1 (D1), 5 mg.L-1 (D2), and 7.5 mg.L-1 (D3). The observed parameters consisted of percentage of male seedlings and viability of guppy fish seedlings during the raising as well as physical-chemical parameters (temperature, pH, and dissolved oxygen). The trial result indicated that the administration of 5 mg.L-1 (D2) of 17α-methyltestosterone solution could increase the percentage of male guppy fish seedlings up to 55.40% and quite high viability during the raising for 83.79%. The range of physical-chemical water value during this study still supported the raising of parents and seedlings of guppy fish. Keywords : guppy,  hormon, 17α-metiltestosteron

Abstract

To produce certain quality germ of goldfish artificial fertilization is made. The obstacle is insufficient fish sperm becauseof inadequate male mather and the gonad which arent simultaneously mature. To solve this problem, the fish sperm is stored by using thinning agent. The agent has to sustain sperm life during the storage. One of the medium is glycerined-milk. The research aims to find out the effect of glyserine with different concentration on thining milk to sperm motility and percentage of eggs hatching. Different glyserine concentration treatments are A) 0% B) 1% C) 3% D) 4%. After three days storage, the sperm motility is done by using microscope. The result show that variety of glyserine concentration in thinning milk give obvious effect to sperm motility percentage, fertility percentahe, and egg hatching. The highest sperm motility percentage obtained by treatment D (96,28 %) followed C 95.68 %, B (91,90 %), A (90,48), and E (89,04). The percentage of Fertilization are D,B,A,E with result 97,44 %, 94,64%, 90,92%, 89,91 %, 89,32 % respectively. The percentage of hatching are D (86.85 %), C (85.41%), B (84,23), A (83,73) and E (78,16). The water quality during research is still on the reasonable range to egg hatching. Abstract

The survey was conducted at Angke-Kapuk Protected Forest, Penjaringan-North Jakarta. The aim of research was to know of fish based diversity and potency. Fish caught with gillnet (mesh size ¾, 1,5 and 2 inch) and fishnet (mesh size 1,5 and 2,0 cm). The result were recorded 19 species belongs to 18 genera and 14 family. Guppy was dominant spesies, while the potential economic are sepat, bulan-bulan and mullet. Key words: protected forest, potency, fish, angke kapuk

Abstract

Natural food is the best food for fish because the nutrient cannot be replaced by artificial food. Artemia is one of the best available live food for larvae shrimp (L. vannamei), it is due to Artemia has a good nutrient for larvae shrimp. The purpose of the study is to the influence of the growth, survival and biomass weight through feeding larval shrimp Artemia sp. local products fortified). Tested animals that used were larvae of shrimp with average stages PL1-PL10, this study was conducted by using completely randomized experimental design with 4 treatments and 3 replicates. The results showed that there were significant effects (P<0.05) on biomass of shrimp larvae fed by Artemia sp. local products enriched by diatom, which the Artemia sp. local products fed by C.calcitrans and S.costatum is the best treatment with 5.84±0.6%; for biomass and showed that there were significant effect (P<0.05) on biomassof shrimp larvae fed by Artemia sp. local products enriched by diatom is 5,93±0,12 gr and 87,62 ± 2,52%. For highest survival rate showed that there were significant effects (P<0.05) on biomass of shrimp larvae fed by Artemia sp. local products enriched by diatom with the highest biomass of shrimp larvae fed by Artemia sp. Abstract

Tilapia fish (Oreochromis niloticus) is one of freshwater commodities gained big attentionfrom governments abd obsevers of world fisheries issues, especially related to raising nutritients in countries – developing countries. The succes of Tilapias related to environment healthy and fish disease caused by bacteria. One of bacteria found in aquatic ecosystems is Escherichia coli. This research has a purpose to know there are Escherichia coli at Tilapia fish cultivation and to know the existence of contamination from cultivation media. This research is done on February 24th until March 6th, 2015. The research used sample purposive sampling, sample was taken at three fishpond locations, there was slamaran and Degayu. Then, sample was analyzed at Laboratory testing and Quality Control of Fishery Product ( LPPMHP), Pekalongan City. The research result show that Escherichia coli content in first fishpond is 3,6 MPN/gr, second fishpond is 9,4 MPN/gr and the last fishpond is 9,3 MPN/gr. Another side, Escherichia coli content of meat Tilapias is less than 3 MPN/gr for each cultivation, either in Slamaran or Degayu. It is stated that the content of E.coli in the pond water does not contaminate tilapia fish. Tilapia fish is safe for consumption.Keywords : Escherichia coli, fishpond, Tilapia fish

Abstract

Milkfish with high protein content has potential as the raw material of HPI and HPI review of the fish has not been implemented. This study aims to determine the effect of the concentration of the enzyme papain to the quality of the protein hydrolyzate of fresh milkfish (Chanos Chanos Forsskal). This study was conducted laboratory experimentally. The trial design used in this study was complete random design to analyze the effect of papain enzyme concentrations (4%, 5%, and 6%) toward the quality of protein hydrolyzate of milkfish. Protein hydrolyzate of milkfish could be produced by enzymatic hydrolysis using papain enzyme. The observed parameters were the yield and the proximate level (level of protein, fat, water, and ash). Type of enzyme and concentration had significant effect toward the proximate level of protein, fat, water, and yield, but not significant toward the level of ash. The optimal condition to hydrolyze milkfish flesh into protein hydrolyzate was by using papain enzyme with concentration of 5% (b/v). Keyword: Milkfish, hydrolyzate of protein, enzyme papain

Abstract

Rainbow fish (Melanotaenia parva) is original endemic fish originated from Papua. This fish is fancied due to its beauty and uniqueness. The purposes of this general practice of rainbow fish (Melanotaenia parva) seeding were the following: (1) to learn the qualified and interesting method of raising of parents, larva, and seedlings of rainbow fish (Melanotaenia parva) originated from Kurumoi Lake; (2) to identify and solve any problems occurring during the activities of general practice of rainbow fish (Melanotaenia parva) such as diseases, pests, and mortality. The method of activities by collecting primary and secondary data using literature approach, observation, interview, and direct practice. The activities were conducted on 1 July until 1 August 2013 in Ornamental Fish Development and Research  of Depok, West Java. The process of rainbow fish seeding included the process of parent raising, parent selection, spawning, egg raising, and larva and fry raising. Some matters determining the seeding were contained preparation, water quality handling, feed management, and pest and disease control. Keyword : Rainbow, Ornamental fish

Abstract

Cultivation of Sangkuriang catfish (Clarias gariepinus) intensively can result in the decrease of quality of cultivation media water, among others the decrease of dissolved oxygen content and the increase of waste content especially organic nitrogen. The technology has been implemented to manage the activities of Sangkuriang catfish cultivation in Reksosari Vocational Sub-District, Suruh District, Semarang Regency using probiotic in cultivation media. This study aimed to compare the growth of Sangkuriang catfish raised by using probiotic and non-probiotic system cultivation media. The test animals used in this study were Sangkuriang catfish seedlings of 10 days for 500 seedlings raised for 30 days. The observation was conducted on day-0, day-15, and day-30. The observed parameters of growth were water temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, and ammonia. The study result indicated that there was a difference in length and weight increase of Sangkuriang catfish in probiotic and non-probiotic application cultivation media. Although the increase of growth was not significant, but it could give illustration that Sangkuriang catfish raised using probiotic application experienced a better growth. It indicated that the feed given and the raising media could support the growth of Sangkuriang catfish. The raising media implementing probiotic technique showed a better and relatively ideal condition for Sangkuriang catfish. Keyword: Sangkuriang, catfish, management, water quality, probiotics
