Abstract

This research is a normative research about evaluation language used in scietific works (thesis) at state universities in Medan. This research aims to create the used of standardized and welformed Indonesian language at university students, even at state or private universities in Medan with national standard for scientific works. To applicate that the book of Ejaan, Diksi, Istilah, Kalimat, dan Pernalaran is used (Moeliono et al., 2001) dan (Alwi et al., 2001). The research uses survey with descriptive qualitative and quantitave to find actual uptodate, and factual language data by doing scientific writing research at state universities in Medan. This research uses coding and directed observation techniques in using scientific writing of Indonesian language at IAIN, UNIMED, USU libraries. This choosen domain based on that the domain is assumed influencing university students language in North Sumatera. Therefore, the presented data is language phenomena and image at university student scientific language in Medan. The result of this research shows that Indonesian langugae used at thesis has many mistakes or errorness, such as spelling system, conjunction, sentence structure and interpretation, thus morphemes, dictions, and terms.

Abstract

Prophetic literature is a concept based on the prophetic work. Prioritize humanization, liberation, and transcendence. Prophetic literature is literature that is able to provide a balance between the social themes and spiritual themes, representing the history of humanity and prophetic values/religion. This paper uses qualitative survey methods. The theory used in this paper is a prophetic literary theory, which sees literature as a spiritual concepts and social concepts (habluminallah and habluminannas). This paper analyzed 107 text poem that became the subject of research. The findings of the research on text SPB, namely the alignment between the spiritual concept (habluminallah) and social concepts (habluminannas).

Abstract

Refusal belongs to illocutionary acts of commissive. It occurs in all languages and is formulated differently based on their cultural background. People refuse either directly or indirectly. Beebe and Takahashi (1990) provided a classification of refusal strategy that can be used to analyze the form of refusal utterances. This study aims to discover the refusal strategies used in the novel of Ayat-ayat Cinta by Habiburrahman El Shirazy. The analysis was done to the speech act of refusals (SARs) in response to requests, questions, suggestions, orders, and invitations. The data were analyzed and categorized according to the refusal taxonomy by Beebe et al. To see the felicity condition of the refusal, the IFIDs are used to indicate the performative verbs of refusals utterances. The finding showed that the refusers perform different SARs. Indirect SARs of excuse/reason/explanation, statement of principle, and statement of regret were the prefered formula used in refusing. Besides, the power relation of the refusers which were higher, equal, and lower also distinguished the choice of semantic formula. The indirect SAR of flat no was not much prefered by the three power relation of the refusers. The performative verbs used in the refusal utterances are tell, ask, threaten, promise, request, inform, forbid, and beg.

Abstract

Not everyone can write and create poetry. It requires a set of knowledge and abilities segmental and suprasegmental, so that people can string words. As a work of literature, poetry is a form of word play beautiful and orderly, so it is true what Robert Scholes said that literature is a show of words. Excellence is what makes the word knitting popular and favored literary readers. The words that emerge from these letters are the words chosen and represent feelings and thoughts. What about the students? Are they able to write or create poetry as poets? Writing poetry is a way for students to enable them to use the language contained sensitivity in him. In learning Indonesian language and literature, the ability to write poems very encouraging students to love their culture. Therefore, it is necessary concrete measures to assist and guide the students to be able to write and create good poetry. Among the available measures, the possibility inquiry method can help teachers to stimulate students were able to write poetry. Based on that, a class action research was conducted. This classroom action research helps teachers provide an answer that is appropriate inquiry method used in the teaching of writing poetry freely in the classroom.

Abstract

Communicating is something that is absolutely necessary every individual. By communicating life will be easy. With a lot of communicating, then something will be lighter weight. With a lot of difficulty communicating anyway everything will be easily overcome. Interview is part of the communication activities. In order of social life, the interview is not new anymore. Formally, the interview will be required every time someone entering the workforce. However, any converse informally also frequently experience. With many questions to the speaker, it will be easy established good relations. So it is clear that the interview, both formal and informal, will be able to foster self-confidence of an individual. Presumably because it was also the government through the Ministry of Education put learning materials in the curriculum converse Indonesian language and literature classes X and XI SMA Negeri 1 Binjai. This means that students really prepared for a lot of interviewing, as their stock when completed high school, or in simpler language students are encouraged to practice communicating. On this basis, researchers are trying to develop a learning technique called: Improving interview skills through imaginative dialogue with student idol. Learning with imaginative dialogue is done by presenting the students idolize figures in their imagination, as well as imaginative dialogue with the idol. Having tried out in a classroom action research (classroom action research) in three cycles, then this study proved very successful. Acquisition value of the average student is very good, which is 82.8 on one cycle, 81.8 on two cycles, and 85.95 on the ketiga.Karena cycle anyway, this learning is very good and suitable for use anywhere, regardless of space and of time, because each student (every human being) must have its own idol who is usually the person who admired.

Abstract

Opera Batak Sampuraga is a play that began from the experience of seeing a site Sampuraga Hot Water Pond, located in the area Sirambas Mandailing. and stories are told from the mouth to mouth (oral literatur). Then do the rearrangement of both characterizations and events that happen by using some structures of modern theater of Indonesia, because Batak Opera has some similarities with the structure of modern theater plays Indonesia. Opera Batak Sampuraga as the field of art creation, experiencing a touch of creativity include the presence of various elements of art from other regions. Sampuraga play is a human obsession and ambition in reaching goals, which requires sacrifice, although eventually a curse that will befall. Opera Batak similar expression pattern play in the play-the play is too modern Indonesian theater-style realism with representation approach is realized with the flowing fabric of conflict.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine reduplication in Angkola Mandailing language using the Theory of Generative Morphology related to reduplication suggested by Simatupang (1983) and supported by Ramlan (2001) and Chaer (2008). The data for this study were a number of morphemes in Angkola Mandailing language containing the element of reduplication. The oral data were obtained from various conversations occured in the Angkola Mandailing community and several informants, while the written data were obtained from the literatures written in Angkola Mandailng language, dictitonary and scientific writtings discussing about Angkola Mandailing language. The result of this study showed that the types of reduplication in Angkola Mandailing language are as follows. First, twowenteen types of reduplication are found in Angkola Mandailing language. Second, the contexstually it is found the meaning of these types of reduplication Independent Context and Dependent Context in the Angkola Mandailing language.

Abstract

Stand up Comedy is an artful comedy which is individually delivered directly in front of the spectators. Further, Stand up Comedy is part of humor. This research is purposed to describe the types of speech act illocution including with the Principle of Mutual Consideration (PMC) realized within the Stand up Comedy delivered by Raditya Dika. He is a writer and also known as a comic. Some phases of methods were conducted in completing the research; gathering the data, analyzing the data based on its function through contextual method. Then, data were studied and analyzed by conducting pragmatics theories those were theory of speech act and PMC. Based on the analysis, the utterances within Stand up Comedy delivered by Raditya Dika can be concluded into some significant findings, namely illocutionary speech acts were found that consists of five kinds of speech acts; representative, directive, expressive, comissive, and declarative. Moreover, PMC in the form of harm potential was also found in the analysis.
