Abstract

The aim of this study is to find out whether there is a correlation between students’ frequency of using YouTube content and speaking skill at 4th semester of English Department of IAIN Bengkulu. This study was conducted in correlational research which involved 21 students. A questionnaire was used to obtain students’ frequency of using YouTube content and test was employed to obtain students’ speaking skill. Both data were calculated using Pearson Product Moment Formula and SPSS Program. The result of this study showed that the coefficient correlation (rcount) was higher than the rtable (0,852 > 0,433). It can be said that there is a significant correlation between students’ frequency of using YouTube content and their speaking skill at 4th semester of English Department of IAIN Bengkulu. The interpretation of correlation coefficient 0,852 was high correlation. The hypothesis accepted in this research was alternative hypothesis (Ha), whereas the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. In brief, it could be drawn that students’ frequency of using YouTube was correlated with their speaking skill.

Abstract

  يهدف هذا المقال إلى التعرف على تطور فقه اللغة واختلاف في تطوره - من الكتب القديمة والحديثة. الطريقة المستخدمة في كتابة هذا المقال هي منهج البحث المكتبي، وهو البحث الذي يفحص النتائج ويصف النظرية للموضوع في هذا البحث. المادة الدراسية في فقه اللغة واسعة ومكتملة للغاية، لأن فيها نقاشات حول تاريخ الحضارة والأدب والثقافة ومناقشات حول اللغة نفسها، حتى من البنية اللغوية التي يُسمَّى هدفها التطور اللغوي للغة. العصر الحديث. لذلك يعتبر من الضروري النظر إلى تطور فقه اللغة من منظور مقارنة الفترة الزمنية. من موضوعات فقه اللغة بين هذين كتابين ظهر أن هناك الاختلاف و المساواة بين موضوعات فقه اللغة القديمة و الحديثة، فبهذه البيانات الموجودة أراد الباحث أن يدق البحث بين موضوعات فقه اللغة القديمة و الحديثة لتطبيق الخلافات و المساوات فيهما.الكلمات المفتاحية: الاصطلاحي، التاريخية ، المقارنة

Abstract

Based on the perception of the teacher and students in Madrasah Ibtidaiyyah (MI) Nurul Huda Bengkulu City when the researchers conducted an observation, the textbook is suitable for use in the teaching and learning process. Based on those perceptions, this study was intended to evaluate the quality on English textbooks Grow with English published by Erlangga Publisher used by students grade V and IV of MI Nurul Huda Bengkulu city with how much it meets the requirement of good EFL textbook considered four criteria, namely: (1) Subjects  and Contents; (2) Skills and Sub-skills; (3) Layout and Physical Make-up; and (4) Practical Consideration viewed by teacher and see students perception about these textbooks. This study used a quantitative research approach. Total population of this study were 114 students and 1 english teacher. Samples of this research were 25% of the population or 29 students which divided into 2 grades. 15 students from 5th grade and 14 students taken from 4th grade. In collecting data, researchers used checklist as the instrument which adapted from Demir and Ertas. Both textbooks was qualified based on the score ranges which divided into very bad (0-20), bad (21-40), fairly good (41-60), good (61-80), very good (81-100). The result of this study was first, Grow with English for grade five was categorized as good toward the four criteria of good EFL textbook requirements. It reached 79,78% of total score while 80,48% by students’ perception and 79,08% viewed by teachers’s perspective. Second, Grow with English for grade four was categorized  as  good  because  the  total  score  toward  the  four  criteria  is 77,77%. The total score was gained from 80,9% based on students’ perception and 74,65% viewed by teacher’s perspective. So based on the result of this study, it can concluded that both of textbooks met the criteria in fulfilling the requirements of good EFL textbook criteria covering the availability of materials based on Subjects and Contents, Skills and Sub-skills, Layout and Physical Make-up, and the Practical.

Abstract

This study employed a classroom action research design to determine how the KWL strategy could be applied successfully in enhancing students' reading comprehension especially in procedural text. There are four stages in this research. Consist of pre-assessment and cyles 1 until 3. Planning, Acting, Observing, and reflecting were all part of each cycle. Student’s reading achievements were analyzed in each cycle to see their reading comprehension, including pre-assessment. Observations, questionnaires, and interviews were used to collect qualitative data, while test were used to collect quantitative data. This study gets some results. The first is that the KWL strategy could improve students reading comprehension of procedural text and increase students score in reading. The strategy could also develop students' reading comprehension skills in terms of activating prior knowledge, explicit knowledge, implicit information, and word references, as well as recognizing word meanings dependent on context. The strategy was also improved the classroom atmosphere.

Abstract

يهدف هذا البحث العلمي إلى تحليل احتياجات التلاميذ للمواد الدراسية المحادثة اليومية باستخدام الإطار المرجعي الأوروبي المشترك للغة من خلال التعليم عبر الإنترنيت.الطريقة المستخدمة في هذا البحث هي أسلوب البحث التطوير، وهناك نوعان من مصادر البيانات التي تستخدمها الباحثة، وهما البيانات الكمية والبيانات النوعية عن نتائج الشخصية التجريبية التي تم الحصول عليها من الاستبيانات التي أصدرها الباحثة للطلاب جامعة جاكرتا الحكومية في قسم تعليم اللغة العربية. بالنسبة للبيانات النوعية، يتم تقديم التوصيات العامة للمواد التعليمية التي ينتجها الطلاب والأساتذة في قسم وأساتذة قسم تعليم اللغة العربية جامعة جاكرتا الحكومية.تحليل احتياجات التلاميذ على المواد الدراسية المحادثة اليومية باستخدام الإطار المرجعي الأوروبي المشترك للغة من خلال التعليم عبر الإنترنت، حصل من ناحية المتوسط الإجمالي 2,6 و تقديرها "محتاج جدا". و تحليل احتياجات المدرس على المواد الدراسية المحادثة اليومية باستخدام الإطار المرجعي الأوروبي المشترك للغة من خلال التعليم عبر الإنترنت "محتاج جدا". فلذلك، المواد الدراسية المحادثة اليومية باستخدام الإطار المرجعي الأوروبي المشترك للغة من خلال التعليم عبر الإنترنت محتاج جدا  لاستخدامها  في التعليم.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine the use of translation shift of preposition phrase in the Kopkamtib Operation Chapter VIII and IX. The translation shift that occurred in the data collected by the researcher was a category shift consisting of unit shift, intersystem shift, class shift and also structure shift. The researcher conducted a comprehensive analysis of Chapters VIII and IX in this book to find the occurrence of translation shifts. The research method used by the researcher is a qualitative method with a content analysis approach. The results of this study indicate that there are 18 shift of preposition phrase data found by researchers randomly. Translation Shift that occur are  there are 8 data belonged to structure shift, 4 data belonged to intersystem shift, 3 data belonged to class shift and 3 data belonged to unit shift. This study concludes that a translation shift is something that must happen and cannot be avoided in the process of translating a text. But, although there were translation shift and semantic transition that happened in this book, it didn’t make so many problems in the quality and quantity of the text.

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the necessity of building a proposed vision to enhance the psychological and social support of orphans in care homes, and the researcher reviews in this study the definition of the study terms represented in psychological and social support and orphanages and care homes, as well as the difficulties and challenges facing orphan care institutions in providing psychological and social support to orphans The researcher used the descriptive desktop approach to identify the literature related to developing the proposed vision to enhance psychological and social support for orphans in care homes. The study showed that providing psychological and social support helps orphans Depositors in care homes to face life stresses and positive adaptation to the circumstance of loss and overcome difficulties before them in order to develop their psychological and social compatibility, as well as enable them through programs to explore their capabilities and develop their capabilities and raise their competencies. The study recommended providing orphan care institutions with the amenities, entertainment and educational games aimed at contributing to creating a positive atmosphere aimed at achieving psychological and social compatibility for the orphans in which they are placed1.
