Abstract

Introduction: Predicting the length of care becomes important for intervention in the care system. However, it still seems that the ability to predict the length of treatment is not optimal, so that the length of treatment is prolonged. If the ability to predict the length of treatment can be done optimally, it will improve the patient's return time. Methods: This study uses a retrospective study approach. Result: There was no relationship between the predictor of length of stay with a length of treatment. Conclusion: The predictor of length of stay in this study were patients with tibia fractures at RSD dr. Soebandi. Most of the patients with tibial fractures were in the early elderly, with the gender of patients with tibia fractures being mostly male. Most of the patients with tibial fractures have no complications and the type of fracture in patients with tibia fractures is mostly in the fracture of the shaft of the tibia. There was no correlation between the predictors of length of stay and length of stay in patients with tibia fractures.

Abstract

Background: The incidence of prediabetes is predicted to continue to increase. Approximately 25% of prediabetes patients develop type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) within 3–5 years. Zinc is known to have a role in the synthesis, storage, secretion, and action of the insulin hormone. Purpose: The aim of the study is to know about the impact of zinc supplementation in type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) prevention. Methods: A systematic literature search was performed using the PubMed, Cochrane, and EBSCOHost search engines. The inclusion study includes systematic review and metaanalysis of randomized clinical trials study and randomized clinical study, and we only include the research of the last 10 years. Results: Three RCTs were selected from 175 articles to undergo a critical review with a total of 353 patients with a duration of 6-12 months (level of evidence II-III). The incidence of T2DM in the intervention group decreased significantly (OR: 0.37 [95% CI 0.7-0.8]; RR: 0.44; ARR: 14% [95% CI 3.5-24.5%]; NNT: 7.14 [4-29]) in one study. Zinc supplementation significantly reduced Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS) in two studies (mean difference -17.3 and -5.76) and oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) in one study (MD -22.6). Conclusion: Administration of zinc in prediabetes patients to prevent the development of T2DM still requires further study with a larger sample, longer duration, and control variables by design and statistics.

Abstract

Introduction: Indonesia is an agrarian country with the majority of its population working in the agricultural sector. The Indonesian agricultural sector ranks first in the number of workplace accidents, including the incidence of lung disease. The factors that most influence respiratory problems in farmers are the result of exposure to pesticides and unhealthy smoking behavior. Lung disease experienced by farmers often affects sleep quality. Poor sleep quality is caused by shortness of breath, coughing, and excessive production of secretions. Inadequate sleep causes physical disturbances. This study aims to analyze the potential effect of decreased lung function on the sleep quality of farmers. Methods: This is a quantitative research that uses interviews with respondents using two questionnaires. The research sample used purposive sampling with 38 respondents in Kelurahan Antirogo, Kecamatan Sumbersari, Kabupaten Jember. The instruments used are the Lung Functioning Questionnaire and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and the correlation between variables was evaluated using Paired T-Test. Result: The results show that there is a significant decrease in the value of Sig. (2-tailed) 0.000 (p < 0.05). The explanation was added by linking the discussion to decreased lung function on the Lung Functioning Questionnaire indicators, such as cough intensity, additional breath sounds, shortness of breath, and duration of smoking. In addition, a discussion was also given regarding the decline in lung function by type of gender, age, education, and occupation. Conclusion: An indication of decreased lung function is a factor that can affect sleep quality.

Abstract

Background: Ineffective airway clearance is one of the nursing problems that cause a decrease in health quality in COPD patients. Nurses need evidence-based nursing practice to enforce and overcome the nursing problem of ineffective airway clearance quickly and precisely. Purpose: This study aims to identify the signs and symptoms of major/minor ineffective airway clearance in COPD patients and identify the implementation of independent nursing actions to overcome these problems. Methods: This study uses a descriptive research design with a secondary data analysis approach that comes from the nursing care documentation of 22 respondents in 12 final project reports for the D3 Nursing Study Program FKEP UNEJ Campus Lumajang in the period 2018 to 2020. Data on major/minor signs and symptoms, as well as the implementation of independent nursing actions (based on SDKI and SIKI) identified, are presented in the distribution table for further discussion. Results: The major signs that always appeared in all respondents included: excessive sputum and additional breath sounds, and minor signs included: dyspnea and change in respiratory rate (95% of respondents). Implementation of independent nursing actions includes: giving a semi-fowler/fowler position (91% of respondents), practicing effective coughing techniques (77% of respondents), giving warm drinks (68% of respondents), doing chest physiotherapy (59% of respondents), giving oxygen therapy (36% of respondents), providing fluid intake of 2000 ml/day (18% of respondents). Conclusion: The results of this study become clinical evidence-based information that nurses can implement to increase success in caring for COPD patients with ineffective airway clearance in hospitals.

Abstract

Introduction: Diabetic retinopathy patients have different perceptions about how to take care of themselves. Some have a negative perception of dealing with their illness, which can cause the patient to become depressed, it affects the patient in controlling blood sugar levels, so increasing risk of developing diabetic retinopathy. The negative illness perception causes the patient's lack of awareness to check his eye condition regularly so that it can affect the patient's health condition. This study aimed to analyze the illness perception in patients with diabetic retinopathy at RSD dr. Soebandi Jember. Method: This research was quantitative research using a descriptive design. Respondents in this study were 34 diabetic retinopathy patients obtained by the total sampling technique. Data were collected using the Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire (B-IPQ) and analyzed using univariate data analysis. Result: The results showed an average value of illness perception was 51.44 (SD = 16.85), indicating that diabetic retinopathy was still considered a threat by the respondents. The indicator with the highest value is concern, while the indicator with the lowest value is treatment control. In this study, patients perceive their disease as a threat due to a lack of knowledge about diabetic retinopathy, symptoms of the disease, and patient concerns about their disease. Conclusion: The patient's illness perception needs to be formed to overcome the disease because it can impact the patient's health. One factor influencing illness perception is knowledge because patients with good knowledge can implement the information they have to maintain their health. Providing health education about diabetic retinopathy is needed to improve the patient's perception of the disease.

Abstract

Introduction: Stunting is a problem of malnutrition, recurrent infections, and inadequate psychosocial stimulation which causes disturbances in child development. Poor nutritional management in golden-age children is still a problem in many countries, including Indonesia. Management efforts are a challenge because the dissemination of information and education about stunting is not evenly distributed so awareness of nutrition management to prevent stunting is still low. This study aims to analyze and explain telehealth as e-parenting with the Family Centered-Care approach as an effective intervention in preventing stunting in the era of society 5.0. Method: The method in this study is to use a literature review. Articles are obtained through search sites such as Google Scholar, Science Direct, Scopus, NCBI, and ProQuest as well as books that are relevant to the topic. The criteria used in searching in Indonesian and English with the publication year range of 2018-2022 for journals then carried out analysis and synthesis using the PRISMA method. Results: The effectiveness of interventions provided via telehealth with a Family Centered-Care approach is oriented towards client resources at home, but remains under the supervision of health workers. This intervention significantly impacts lifestyle changes including physical activity, health education, and nutrition management. Conclusion: Telehealth can be a new alternative in the era of society 5.0 as an effort to cut time and mobilize more efficiently so that understanding and dissemination of information is wider and more equitable so that stunting can be prevented at an early age. Keywords: Family Centered-care; Nutrition Management; Parenting; Stunting; Telehealth
