Abstract

This research was motivated by the low ability of students’ mathematical problem solving and lack of their self-efficacy when learning mathematics. So, there was a need of learning model that is able to enhance students’ problem solving and self-efficacy. One of the learning models that can be used is Problem-Based Learning (PBL) mixed with scientific approach. This study aims to determine: (1) To compare mathematical problem solving ability of student who get the model PBL mixed with scientific approach and students who received conventional learning; (2) To compare the increase of students’ mathematical problem solving ability who get the PBL model mixed with scientific approach and students who received conventional learning; (3) To compare the students’ self-efficacy who get the PBL model with a scientific approach and students who received conventional learning; (4) To compare the increase of students’ selfefficacy who get the PBL model mixed with scientific approach and students who received conventional learning. The method used is a quasi-experimental method with population of eighth grade students of one of junior high school in Cilegon. Sampling is conducted through cluster random sampling technique. The results show: (1) Students’ mathematical problem solving ability of students who get the PBL model with scientific approach are better than students who received conventional learning; (2) The Improvement of students’ problem solving ability who get the PBL model mixed with scientific approach are better than students who received conventional learning; (3) students’ self-efficacy who get the PBL model mixed with scientific approach are better than students who received conventional learning; (4) The Improvement of students’ self-efficacy who get the PBL model mixed with scientific approach are better than students who received conventional learning. Keywords: Problem-Based Learning, Scientific Approach, Mathematical Problem Solving Ability, Self-Efficacy.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of problem-based learning to practice problemsolving skills. The research sample is Class A students in the Science Education Department of Science Education Class of 2020-2021 who program Biophysics courses in the Even Semester of 2021-2022. Sampling using purposive sampling technique. The method used in this research is a pre-experimental design with a one shot case study design. The research data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis. The results of the analysis show that problem solving skills have increased after three implementations of learning implementation with a score range of above 85% and is included in the very good category. The conclusion of this research is that problem-based learning guided by appropriate worksheets and regular guidance can improve students' problem-based solving skills. However, improving these skills requires repetition and longer time in learning. Keywords: Problem Based Learning, Problem Solving Skills, Student Worksheet, Pre-service Teacher

Abstract

This study aims to determine the concepts of physics used in technology and daily life, to find out photos that can provide information to readers and know the study of photos related to the concepts of physics. In this article, the experimental method carried out is in the form of obtaining material, observing the object to be taken, and taking pictures. This article obtained five physics concepts contained in the photo, namely the concept of Boyle's law, the concept of Newton's I law, the concept of circular motion, the concept of static electricity, and the concept of the Doppler effect. In everyday life, there are many phenomena related to physics concepts, such as the condition of a syrup bottle equipped with a pump related to Boyle's law concepts. This child is cycling, related to Newton's First Law concepts and the concept of circular motion, a mouse-repellent device, related to the Doppler effect and the occurrence of static electricity when combing hair and sticking small papers on a plastic ruler. From this article, it can be concluded that many phenomena in everyday life are related to the concepts of physics, including the concepts of Boyle's law, Newton's first law, circular motion, static electricity, and the Doppler effect. Abstract

Experiential learning media initiatives in junior high school because students will more easily understand concepts through experimental activities compared to just listening to information from the teacher. The method used is a survey of students' interests and motivations after trying the media props "wind powered car." The number of participants surveyed was seven junior high school students. The small amount is intended to obtain initial data about interest and motivation in the learning media. The survey results show that the majority of students are interested in the media or have high interest and motivation in experiential learning media. Based on the survey results, the prototype of the learning media that has been made is good enough, so it can be used in larger classes. Keywords: culture, experiential learning, learning media.

Abstract

The learning Media used today is sophisticated because it utilizes information technology. However, simple teaching aids still remain relevant in science learning. The purpose of this study is to determine the validity of the props that have been made, namely props "boat raft" in the application of Archimedes law. Testing the validity of the props also made use of virtual laboratory simulation "Archimedes law" on the site of Virtual Lab, home of learning. The research method used in this study is design-research by utilizing small-scale Class Trials. Data processing in determining validity using Aiken's coefficient V. The validity of props according to two science teachers is more effective in virtual laboratory simulation of "Archimedes law". Interest and motivation of students while learning the majority respond interesting and easy in the use of raft boat props. The students ' responses to the media props test the effectiveness of the raft boat props in terms of design aspects, aspects of quality and aspects of effectiveness. The results obtained indicate that the virtual laboratory simulation “Archimedes law” has the potential to increase motivation and interest in learning in students.
