The Journal of Midwifery is a peer reviewed free open access Faculty of Health Studies, Universitas Dehasen Bengkulu, Bengkulu, Indonesia. Midwifery publishes the latest peer reviewed international research to inform the safety, quality, outcomes and experiences of pregnancy, birth and maternity care for childbearing women, their babies and families. The journals publications support midwives and maternity care providers to explore and develop their knowledge, skills and attitudes informed by best available evidence. Midwifery provides an international, interdisciplinary forum for the publication, dissemination and discussion of advances in evidence, controversies and current research, and promotes continuing education through publication of systematic and other scholarly reviews and updates. Midwifery articles cover the cultural, clinical, psycho social, sociological, epidemiological, education, managerial, workforce, organizational and technological areas of practice in preconception, maternal and infant care, maternity services and other health systems. This professional journal provides a venue for the publication of research relevant to midwifery and reproductive health practice by specialists and researchers in various disciplines including midwifery, reproductive health, maternal and child health, obstetrics and gynecology, sexual health promotion, womens health and nursing. It publishes quantitative and qualitative original articles, review articles, short communications, case reports and letters to the editor in a broad range of clinical and interdisciplinary topics including sexual and reproductive health, maternal and child health, safe pregnancy and normal childbirth, adolescent health, family planning, menopause, screening of gynecological cancers, infertility holistic care, womens mental health, psychosocial and ethical aspects of womens health, counseling and educational interventions in reproductive health and midwifery, womens empowerment and reproductive rights. The journal welcomes the highest quality scholarly research that employs rigorous methodology. Midwifery is a leading international journal in midwifery and maternal health and employs a double blind peer review process.

Abstract

The decline in the rate of exclusive breastfeeding is one of the factors causing death in infants. Breast-fed infants are 17 times more likely to have pneumonia, and are 3-4 times more likely to get respiratory infection than infants exclusively breastfed (Maryunami, 2012).This study aimed to determine the description of knowledge and parity of mothers providing exclusive ation at Cahaya Negeri health center of Seluma regency in 2017.The type of research is descriptive quantitative with the entire population of Mothers having infants aged 6-12 months at Cahaya Negri health center area as many as 193 babies. This research was conducted on June 18 to July 25, 2017 with the Accidental Sampling by 66 respondents. This research used a descriptive analysis.The results obtained from 24 mothers who gave exclusive breastfeeding, (54.2%) were knowledgeable enough and (54.2%) mothers were with multiparity parity. Of the 42 mothers who did not breastfeed Exclusively (52.4%) had less knowledge and most (59.5%) of the mothers were with primiparity parityTo Cahaya Negeri Seluma Health Center of Seluma regency is expected to cooperate with health institute to do giving information to the community, especially pregnant women and mothers who have a toddler.

Abstract

Breastfeeding coverage in Indonesia in 2016 revealed that the percentage of infants received exclusive breastfeeding until the age of 6 months was 29.5% and breast-fed infants 0-5 months were 54.0%. The low achievement of exclusive breastfeeding programs can occur due to several obstacles, including low knowledge of exclusive breastfeeding. Knowledge of the husband plays an important role as support in the success of exclusive breastfeeding. This study aimed to determine the description of husband's knowledge of breastfeeding mothers (0-6 months) about exclusive breastfeeding in the working area of Dermayuhealth center of Seluma District in 2017. The research method used in this research was descriptive research, with 73 respondents taken by accidental sampling technique. The type of data used in this study using primary data was analyzed using univariate analysis. the results of this study indicated that almost some of the respondents (34.2%) had less knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding. To the institute of Dermayu health center, Seluma District is expected to increase the knowledge of the community about exclusive breastfeeding especially on the husbands of mothers who have babies so that the knowledge of the husband can be better in providing support to the baby.

Abstract

Pregnancy involved various physical and psychological changes. Pregnancy usually develop normally, but sometimes not as expected, it was difficult to predict whether pregnant women could be problematic during pregnancy or fine. Thus the understanding of the mother and husband in the face of physical and psychological changes was very important. This study aimed to describe the understanding of mother and husband toward physical and psychological changes during pregnancy in working area of Beringin Raya Public Health Center Bengkulu 2016.The method used in this research was a descriptive study, with the number of respondents 82 pregnant women and 82 respondents husband was taken with purposive sampling technique. Data used in this study using primary data and analyzed using univariate analysis.More than half of pregnant women (56.1%), had less understanding about the physiological changes during pregnancy, most pregnant women (46.3%), had a good understanding about the physiological changes during pregnancy. more than half of pregnant husband (56.1%), had less understanding about the physiological changes in pregnant women and pregnant husband half (50.0%), had less understanding about the physiological changes of pregnant women.Expectant mothers and wives understanding about physical and psychological changes in the poor category. Beringin Raya Public Health Center Bengkulu could further increase in outreach to pregnant women thus increasing understanding of pregnant women.

Abstract

The high rate of morbidity and death from dengue fever is an infectious disease whose efforts to reduce the case related to national commitment and often appear as extraordinary events, this is seen from the high number of dengue cases in Indonesia as many as 8,487 people with Dengue Fever with the number of deaths 108 people and Bengkulu Province case encountered as many as 925 cases, and died 19 people, so the role of midwife as the spearhead in society is needed. This research aimed to find out the perception of society to the Role and Motivation of Midwife to Reduce the Figures of Dengue Fever in Siaga Morgo Mulyo village in 2017.This research is a descriptive research, the population were all families in Siaga Morgo Mulyo village in 2017 totaled 320 heads of family and the sample taken 39 people with purposive sampling sampling technique, with inclusion criterion sample which were those who were willing to become respondents and had an ability in read and writing.The results of this study indicated that people's perception on the role and motivation of midwives to reduce Dengue Fever morbidity in Siaga Morgo Mulyo village in 2017, most of the respondents (62.5%) had less perception on the role of midwives and almost all respondents (51.3 %) had less perception on midwife’s motivation to Reduce Dengue Fever Mortality Rate In Siaga Morgo Mulyo village in 2017.It is expected that medics especially midwives can emphasize by performing their role and motivation as midwife in reducing Dengue Fever morbidity.

Abstract

KB (Family Planning) is an effective way to stop the high rate of population growth, the number of people in Indonesia in 2013 amounted to 248 422 956, those inhabitants number increases relatively quickly. The need policies to regulate or limit the number of birth can be addressed births, the percentage of couples use contraception at fertile age (EFA) especially husband was the IUD (3.5%), implants (4.3%), MOP (0.1 %), MOW (2.3%), pills (13.9%), injections (34.3), condoms (0.8%), and Natural (0.3%). Male contraception percentage is still low. Objective To know the knowledge and education about the husband's participation become family planning acceptors in Kampung Bali PHC in the city of Bengkulu. The research was a descriptive with accidental sampling technique, the number of samples used were 100 couples of childbearing age especially husbands on January 8, 2015 at Kampung Bali PHC in the city of Bengkulu. The results of this research indicated that the majority (61%) of respondents had less knowledge level and most (71%) were lower educated. Conclusions that can be drawn from this research was the husband's level of knowledge and education in the area of Kampung Bali PHC in Bengkulu city on the participation of a husband being acceptors was still relatively low. Suggestion: it is expected the health workers to provide better information about family planning, especially the use of condoms KB and MOP to reduce the rate of population growth.

Abstract

Based on the data from the Provincial Health Office Bengkulu the highest percentage of exclusive breastfeeding in Lebong area of 2.573 (74%), and the lowest was in Bengkulu City by 1.376 (38%). InLebong, the highest rank of exclusive breastfeeding health center is in MuaraAman (23.7%), whereas the lowest Exclusive Breastfeeding coverage was in Talang Leak Health Center which was only 40 babies (54%). The goal to be achieved is the implementation of Exclusive Breastfeeding in infants aged 6-12 months in the working area of Talang Leak Health Center in LebongDistrict in 2017.The research method used was descriptive, using Total Sampling technique, the research was conducted in the Working Area of Talang Leak Health Center of Lebong District, the overall sampling of mothers with babies aged 6-12 months who breastfed amounted to 40 babies.The results showed that from 40 respondents, almost half of infants (22.5%) were not exclusively breastfed. And almost all infants (77.5%) were Exclusive breastfed.Conclusions and suggestions, almost half of infants who are not exclusive breastfed because the mother still provides additional foods such as water / mineral water, some give honey as a tradition of local custom. Almost all of the purified exclusive breastfeeding without any given to infants of 40 respondents. Suggestion, to Dehasen Bengkulu Midwifery Academy hopefully this research can be used as a reference material and additional reading in library, for Talang Leak health center it can be an input and information material for officer in giving counseling about exclusive breastfeeding on infant 6-12 months, for the researcher, as benchmark to apply the implementation of exclusive breastfeeding in infants 6-12 months.

Abstract

Posyandu services are very important for the health of mothers and toddlers but in reality, many people still do not take advantage of posyandu program, it can be seen from the number of attainment of complete basic immunization indicator in toddlers. Where the achievement of this indicator in Indonesia in 2015 amounted to 86.54%. This figure has not reached the Renstra target of 91%. Many factors that can influence the behavior of the community in using posyandu are public knowledge about the utilization of posyandu. This research aimed to determine the description of public knowledge in the utilization of posyandu in Margo Mulyo Village, Central Bengkulu District, August 2017. The research method used is a descriptive research, with the number of samples of 64 respondents taken by accidental sampling technique. The type of data used in this research was using primary data which was analyzed using univariate analysis. The results of this research can be concluded that more than some respondents 37 (57.8%), had less knowledge about posyandu utilization. To the village of Margo Mulyo, Central Bengkulu Regency is expected to be able to cooperate with the health centers and health institutions to provide information to the community, especially pregnant women and mothers who have a toddler.
