Abstract

Rice husk is rich in Si that makes it applicable as Si source for zeolite synthesis. However, the conventional method to use rice husk as a zeolite precursor has some drawbacks, which are: Si recovery method that involves burning and causing air pollution and carbon resources loss; and the use of severe conditions and sophisticated apparatuses which are not suitable for rural application where rice husk is mainly produced. In this paper, a method to prepare rice husk as zeolite Si source via a non-combustion process was proposed. Furthermore, its utilization as a zeolite precursor via moderate condition was also investigated. Si was recovered directly from rice husk using a sodium hydroxide solution. Si was successfully recovered from rice husk, and the optimum condition for recovery was found to be 1 N of NaOH and 16 hours of contact time. The application of the recovered Si for zeolite precursor at moderate condition was successful, and it was able to produce a product rich in zeolite P and zeolite X depending on the condition. Among zeolites synthesized in this experiment, the sample prepared by treatment time of 15 hours showed the highest cation exchange capacity, which makes it a promising material to be used as an ion-exchange agent.

Abstract

Nowadays, machines play a critical role as those machines are broadly utilized in various subjects. The contribution of machines is swiftly growing day by day as they are starting to replace humans in everyday tasks. The machine is also used for the food and beverage industry to deliver the products easily and conveniently to customers. This paper focuses on the design and fabrication of the customized Ais Kacang vending machine for canteen, cafeteria and restaurant usage. There were five designs made and one best conceptual design was selected by using a ranking method. In addition, this paper explains the stress and strain analyses of the internal frame of the vending machine. The Ais Kacang vending machine has been undergone two tests, the geometrical and final product tests. The selected machine was able to produce a plate of Ais Kacang in 66 seconds using auto mode. However, the time needed to produce a plate of Ais Kacang in manual mode depended on the user.

Abstract

These days cyberattack is a serious criminal offense and it is a hotly debated issue moreover. A man-in-the-middle-attack (MITM) is a kind of cyberattack where an unapproved outsider enters into an online correspondence between two users, remains escaped the two parties. The malware that is in the middle-attack often monitors and changes individual/classified information that was just realized by the two users. A man-in-the-middle-attack as a protocol is subjected to an outsider inside the system, which can access, read and change secret information without keeping any tress of manipulation. This issue is intense, and most of the cryptographic systems without having a decent authentication security are threatened to be hacked by the malware named MITM. This paper essentially includes the view of understanding the term of MITM; the current work is mainly emphasized to accumulate related data/information in a single article so that it can be a reference to conduct research further on this topic at college/undergraduate level. This paper likewise audits most cited research and survey articles on MITM recorded on 'Google Scholar'. The result showed that the MITM has correlation to the user behavior, in which this must be considered and careful understood for the way how to solve this problem. The motivation behind this paper is to help the readers for understanding and familiarizing the topic 'man-in-the-middle attack'.

Abstract

Additive manufacturing process known as the 3D printing process is an advanced manufacturing process including one of the components to support industrial revolution 4.0. The initial development of a 3D printing machine at Sampoerna University is the background of this research. The 3D printing setup of Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) was built using H-bot moving mechanism by considering the rigidity aspect. The FDM printing method is selected due to its cost and reliability. In this early development, the brackets were custom made using a 3D printer with Polylactic Acid (PLA) material. The result showed that the software worked properly in accordance with the assembled mechanical and electrical parts. The 3D printer could print simple objects such as planes and cubes with small dimensions. However, the printing specimen still lacked accuracy caused by the less rigidity of linear rail brackets, less coplanar belt arrangement, and error in some electronic components.

Abstract

A swarm robotics system can consists of at least two or up to hundreds or thousands number of robots. To build a system that is able to perform target searching task, it needs a robust algoritm and communication strategy. A wrong strategy can lead to unsatisfactory performance in which the swarm robots would unable to move efficiently and arrive at the target position precisely. This work aims to develop a new method for target searching strategy for swarm robotics system by adapting Extended Bat Algorithm (EBA) to the system. EBA is the low level hybrid algorithm of Bat Algorithm (BA) and Spiral Dynamic Algoruthm (SDA), and therefore its exploration and exploitation method is better than BA and SDA. EBA had proven its ability to solve general mathematical problem, however, for swarm robotics system application, its performance and effectiveness still needs to be comprehensively investigated. The investigation result shows that EBA can prove its potentiality to develop the best target searching strategy to the swarm robotics system with 5 number of iterations within 49 seconds. This is found to be the lowest number of iterations in the shortest of time. The accuracy is 99% to arrive at the desired location. Hence, the proposed EBA method is able to perform a target searching task for swarm robotics system.

Abstract

Decomposition of nitrous oxide (N2O) over titania (TiO2) supported copper (Cu) catalyst was investigated with the existence of oxygen and water vapor. The catalytic activity of TiO2 was promoted by copper loading. It was found that there are optimum levels of copper loading on TiO2, and these values are correlated to the specific surface area of TiO2 support being used. The relationship between the catalytic activity for decomposition of N2O and the crystal structure of TiO2 was also investigated. The result revealed that Cu/TiO2 catalysts with the rutile structure has a higher activity toward N2O decomposition than those with the anatase structure. In this research, Cu(5wt%)/TiO2 prepared from TiO2 JRC-TIO-4 (reference catalyst provided by Catalysis Society of Japan) which was mainly constituted of rutile showed the highest activity for N2O decomposition and it could decompose N2O completely at 650℃. The catalytic activity was inhibited by the existence of oxygen. However, there was no influence of water vapor to the catalytic activity of Cu/TiO2 for N2O decomposition.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate an implementation of the batam free trade zone in industrial development. A survey was conducted in 2015 involving 17 firms from different areas of the zone. Relationships between variables were established using Fischer’s Exact Test. Result indicates that there is significant relationship between institutions and innovation, judging by research, designing, and development related activities, fewer than 95% confidence level. The problem lies in the conflicts between the FTZ Authority and the local governments, as the latter continued to dominate the institutional settings. The results indicated that weak vision towards FTZ policy and zero-sum approach by key actors contributed the most to the failure in reindustrialize the zone.

Abstract

Crispness is the most appealing characteristic of dry food products. However, the term crispness has different subjective meaning among consumers. This study aims to quantitatively measure the crispness of potato crisp by performing compression test on a single specimen, and analyzing the compressive behavior, i.e., compressive strain energy. The crispness of the specimens were differentiated by changing the moisture exposure durations, which are 0, 1, 2, 3, 6 hours, in a room and ambient condition. The measured load and displacement data were transformed into stress and strain curves. The strain energy for every 1% strain increment was calculated and investigated to determine the crispness. The crispness difference among specimens of 0, 3, and 6 hours groups was significantly perceived at 8% of strain. It was revealed that the 3 and 6 hours of room air exposure could decrease the crispness by 17% and 45%, respectively. This suggests the compressive strain energy at a certain strain can be an indicator of crispness. This experimental study is expected to evolve food engineering by proposing a simple yet precise crispness measurement method for dry food.

Abstract

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is one of the corrosive element which exists in oil and gas industries. To prevent CO2 corrosion on carbon steel pipelines, amine-base solvent and caustic solutions are commonly applied. Accordingly, effectiveness of amine base solvent and caustic solutions to reduce risk of corrosion becomes key parameters in determining service lifetime of pipelines made of carbon steel. In this research, the corrosion rate of carbon steel A106 Gr B in amine solutions combined with saturated CO2 gas and caustic solution was studied. The experiments were carried out in static conditions and the Linear Polarization Resistance (LPR) technique was used to measure the corrosion rate (as per ASTM G 5-94). It was found that the corrosion rate in the amine-based solution had shown remarkable results. Somehow, the corrosion rate in an amine-based solvent containing saturated CO2 gas has increased to 200%. The temperature increment to 50°C from room temperature has also increased the corrosion rate. Meanwhile, the caustic addition in amine solution has reduced the corrosion rate of carbon steel.

Abstract

This work studies the effect of playing mobile phones while walk-ing to pedestrian safety. Thirty young-adults were observed while walking around Skanderbeg square with and without playing Pokemon GO. Results show that the walking performance deteri-orated when the participants played Pokemon GO as can be seen from the average number of laps decreased from 2.47 to 1.58 laps, the average number of collisions increased from 0.27 to 3.93, and the average number of slip, trip and fall increased from 0.03 to 2.07. It can be concluded that using mobile phone while walking could be dangerous for pedestrian safety.
