Abstract

The focus of this paper is the convergence of Paul Ricouer’s and Emmanuel Levinas’ thoughts concerning the moral responsibility. The role of the mediation between subject and self-understanding would be an appropriate starting point to elaborate such an inquiry. The self-understanding which is one of the hermeneutical categories, according to Ricoeur, represents a decisive moment of the moral awareness. While in the Levinas’ perspective, the appearance of the face constitutes the birth of the moral awareness. Despite this convergence, there is a different approach between both philosophers. Ricoeur’s starting point is text and ego, while Levinas’ thought is based on the ‘other’. So there is a radical difference in the status of alterity which has an implication in the cognition and activity. Levinas refutes the ontology and emphasizes on ethics as experience. While Ricoeur aims at the conditions of possibility of an adequate interpretation which enables to better understand himself/ herself. The concept ‘better self-understanding’ integrates the epistemological and ontological dimensions.

Abstract

The phrase of “the knowledge based economy” has become one of our main questionings in our universities nowdays. With its basic assumption that science can be placed as a commodity that has its own price in the market place, this ideology pushes the concept of the culture of science out of the focus of the university. If before, science played its role as an important clue in the proccess of higher education, now this focus has been turned aside for the sake of money. This background invites us to think more and more about the idea of university. Instead of following the logic of market, this article tries to focus on the eros or the drives to learn as a fundamental nature of university as a community of explorers. The purpose of university is to have the intellectual excellence, to grow in the important truth and to serve the human and the nature.

Abstract

Conditions of religious pluralism are on the increase everywhere. Everybody is coming face to face with believers of other faiths. Those who are not sufficiently equipped with regard to the history and nature of other religions or religious traditions will find themselves in difficulty to interact with ‘the others’. Intolerances, conflicts, and violences of all kinds, which are fundamentaly evil, are just ‘understandable consequences’ that occur throughout our human history. This article tries to offer some insights regarding the struggles of the Christians to comprehend their own position among believers of other faiths and to accept others as partners of dialogue on their way to live out their inner being as Imago Dei and to build up a more humane society, namely a world of friendship and love. Today’s era of dialogue of civilization is actually a great challenge and fertile times for Christians as the pilgrim Church to intensifly develop their spirituality which is intercultural by nature

Abstract

Genalogy is usely be used as a tools in order to trace identity of some one, so that he or she can get an acknowledgment in the society. Because without the acknowledgment, the person can not be received in relation with others. When Matthew’s community face with crisis identity because they were rejected by Jews community, Matthew formed the genealogy of Jesus to declare their identity. The crisis identity was emerged because of their faith in Jesus as the Lord, and their Saviour. But, like the Jews community, they perform the Abraham tradition as well. Therefore, Matthew made up this genealogy to connect their tradition into the faith tradition of Abraham. The aim was to explain that Jesus, the son of Daud and Abraham, to whom they believed, was the heir of the salvation which be promised by God. Therefore, everyone who believes in Him, they get the salvation and grace of Abraham.

Negation or aggression to religious institutions belongs to the human civilization or history of humanity. Every where and every time there are men that don’t believe to God.
