Abstract

Communication mathematics has a very strong relationship with other mathematical processes, such as problem solving, representation, reflection, reasoning and proof, and connections, where communication is needed to complete each of the other mathematical processes. The ability of students 'mathematical communication is also the foundation in building students' knowledge of mathematics both oral and written. through communication allows mathematical thinking to be observed and therefore communication facilitates the development of thinking. Even though the ability of mathematical communication is important, ironically the learning of mathematics has still not given enough attention to the development of this ability, so that mastery of mathematical competencies for students is still low. students only usually teach questions that are required to seek results but are not or are rarely asked about the origin or steps of understanding. In this connection, this paper aims to explain theoretically about mathematical communication and to present the role of learning related to reality so that students can develop mathematical communication skills.

Abstract

Increasing the Ability of Problem Solving by Using Realistic Mathematics Education approach (RME) in Seventh Year Student Class. The aims of the research are: (1) to know the increasing ability of problem solving mathematic student’s by using Realistic Mathematics Education approach, (2) to know there was the interaction between learning and first mathematic ability toward the increasing ability of problem solving mathematic. The research was carried out at MTs S Al-Hijrah Medan. The population of this research is the student grade 1 (one) by taking a sample of the two classes. The data obtained through test THURS, test the ability of mathematical problem solving. The data was analyzed with the test of ANAVA two lines. The result of this research shown that (1) there was increasing ability in problem solving mathematic student’s by using Realistis Mathematics Education approach was better than using direct struction, (2) there were no interaction between learning and student’s ability level to the increasing ability of problem solving mathematic. Research findings recommend RME approach was made one of the learning approaches used in primary schools to conduct varied and innovating learning.

Abstract

The background of the problem in this research is the difficulties of students in studying and understanding the concept of two-variable linear equation system (SPLDV) in class VII SMP Negeri 7 Padangsidimpuan. From the above background, this study aims to determine the level of difficulty of students to understanding the concept of two-variable linear equation system, to know the factors that cause student learning difficulties and how the teachar’s efforts overcome the student’s learning difficulties.This research is a qualitative research. The sources of this research are students and teachers of VII mathematics class at SMP Negeri 7 Padangsidimpuan. Then the instrument in this  research is observation, interview and test.Base on the result of the study of mathematics learning difficulties to the understanding of the concept of two-variable linear equation system (SPLDV) is that students do not understand the concept of algebra calculation, in other words the students still do not understand the counting operation on the algebra. Carelessness done by students in answering the matter of system linear equations of two variables, it is because students rush or see other students wrong. Error principle of operation count on system of linear equation of two variable often happened done student especially student not pay attention to sign of negative and positive. Factors causing student learning difficulties are caused by two external and internal factors of students. The dominant factor that cause the difficulties of learning the students is the motivation of students who are less in learning mathematics. While the efforts made by mathematics teachers in overcoming the difficulties of students is to focus more on the understanding of the concepts in learning mathematics, especially on SPLDV, member motivation to students and give special attention to students who have difficulty in learning the system of two linear equations

Abstract

This article aims to examine the interaction between improving students’ creative thinking ability toward the learning approach that is the End-Ended Approach and Conventional Learning and Mathematical Early Skills (KAM) of the students. The research was conducted in one of State Junior High School with population of all students of class VIII. Two classes were selected from the population as a sample of the research using purposive sampling technique. Conventional Learning is implemented in the control class and the Open-Ended approach is implemented in the experimental class. This research uses the instrument of creative thinking ability test to see the improvement of students’ creative thinking ability. The data processing of students’ creative thinking ability based on mathematical early ability (KAM) is done by using two–way ANOVA test at 5% significance level (α = 0,05). followed by Post Hoc LSD test. Based on data analysis result, it is obtained: (1) there is a difference  of improvement of creative thinking ability between students who gain learning by using Open-Ended approach with  students who abtained Conventional Learning from the Mathematicsl Beginning Skill (KAM) of students; (2) there is no interaction between the learning approaches (Open-Ended and Conventional) and students’ Mathematical Abilities (high, medium, and low) towards improving students’ creative thinking ability; (3) students show positive attitudes toward the Open Ended approach. This study  is a learning factor and theoretical ability of the students does not provide the same effect on the students’ creative thinking ability.

Abstract

This research is basedon students’ less in training so that they difficulty in finishing question on “ circle” topic then they are less active in teaching learning process so that giving impact into student’ mathematics outcomes. This research uses experimental method with untreated control group design with pretest and posttest. The population of this research are all the students at VIII class MTs.N 2 Padangsidimpuan which amounts to 143 students, while the sample of this research is VIII-2 as an experimental class for about 29 students’and VIII-3 as control class for about 28 students. The instrument that is used in this research is essay test that consist of 8 questions about “circle” materials. The result of data analysis in requirement test is obtained by both sample class is normal and homogeneous distribution. The result of t-test are obtained t count =2,065t table = 1.67, resulting in a rejection of O and acceptance Ha. This  study concludes that there is a significant effect in using contextual teaching and learning approach to the student’ mathematics learninf outcomes on the “circle” materials at VIII grade  MTs. N 2 Padangsidimpuan.

Abstract

This study aims to find out (1) the result of learning micra teaching students majoring in tadris/mathematics education in the class of 2013 IAIN Padangsidimpuan, (2) the result of learning program field experience students majoring in tadris/mathematics education in 2013 IAIN Padangsidimpuan, (3) micro teaching students with learning outcomes of field experience program students majoring in tadris / mathematics education in forse 2013 IAIN Padangsidimpuan. Data were collected by documentation and analyzed by Product Moment Correlation. The result showed that (1) the lowest learning achievement of micra teaching was 68, the highest learning result was 90, the average score was 79.63, (2) the lowest learning achievement of the experiential learning achievement (PPL) 81, the highest learning result 94, average score 87.33, (3) there is a positive correlation between result of learning of micro teaching with result of learning program field experience of students majoring tadris/mathematics education at class of 2013 IAIN Padangsidimpuan done t test. Based on calculations obtained t_hit = 0.3408 and t_table = 0.329 with n = 36 and α = 0.05. Based on the analysis result obtained that t_hit t_table, meaning there is a significant relationship between the results of learning micro teaching with the result of learning programs field experience students majoring in Tadris / Mathematucs education in the class 2013 IAIN Padangsidimpuan.

Abstract

Every educator and learner is always curious about the outcame of the learning process in the classroom. To find out the results of the learning process educators need to conduct assessment of learning outcomes  and learning fraud. Assessment of the results of mathematic learning emphasizes to obtain information about how the acquisition of learners of mathematics learning is a systematic process to obain information about the effectivenees of the learning process in helping learners in achieving optimal learning objectives. Please note  that in the process of assessment of learning outcomes of learners in learing mathematics required methods or techniquis and instruments that need to be considered and prepared, so that later learning objectives can be achieved. Techniquis and instruments used this will provide information to teachers on the circumstance and achievements achieved by learners. Teachers’ learning techniquis and assessment instruments the can be developed by teachers can include assessment of test types, non-tests, grade-based assessments, performance appraisals, as well as portfolio assessments. Therefor, techniquis, methods, and assessment instruments that can be done by the teacher in evaluating the students. As a teacher will be required not only able to make an instrument of assessment of learning outcomes of learners, but able to apply and use the assessment instrument
