Abstract

Glaukoma is a leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide. This disease is associated with characteristic damage to the optic nerve and permanent retinal ganglion cell (RGC) degeneration. A crucial step towards circuit repair in glaucoma is to promote damaged RGCs to regenerate not only axons, but also dendrites to successfully reconnect with their synaptic partners. The latest research showed that insulin signalling has the capacity to regenerate dendrites dan injured synapses, therefore the use of insulin raises a new paradigm as a new pro-regenerative therapeutic target for the disease of glaucoma. This literature review is made using literature searching of valid journals with inclusion and exclusion criteria. On the experiment of insulin’s effectivity, it is valued using 4 indicators; promote dendrite regeneration, restore synaptic density, rescue retinal function, robust neuronal survival. Based on in vivo experiment, insulin endowed with the ability to effectively restore dendritic morphology thus enhancing the function and survival of RGC through mTORC1 (mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1) and mTORC2 (mammalian target of rapamycin complex 2) signalling, this supports that that it can be promising therapeutic targets to counter progressive RGC neurodegeneration and vision loss in glaucoma.

Abstract

Uveal Melanoma (UM) is the primary intraocular tumor most commonly found in adults. The combination of therapy, Brachytherapy, surgery, Tranpupillary Thermal Therapy (TTT), Proton Beam Theraphy has not produced satisfactory results. The discovery of HER2 receptors expressed by UM cells can be used as a specific antigen target for the treatment of CAR T-celss. However, the effectiveness of CAR T-cell immunotherapy in tumors results in immunosuppressive T cells caused by an increase in Programmed cell Death Ligand-1 (PD-L1). This literature review demonstrates the success of HER2-specific CART T Cells as UM therapeutic efforts capable of eliminating tumor cells. In addition, CRSPR / Cas9 PD-1 / PD-L1-blocking modified HER2-specific CAR T cells can be a gene innovation in UM sufferers. Further clinical trials are needed to prove the effectiveness of CRISPR / Cas9 PD-1 / PD-L1-Blocking modified HER2-specific CAR T Cells in the treatment of UM patients.Keywords: Uveal melanoma, CAR T cell, reseptor HER

Abstract

Migrain adalah penyakit yang dirasakan seumur hidup, sering berulang dan menghambat aktivitas penderitanya. Patogenesis migrain dispekulasikan berada pada sistem trigeminal dengan aktivitas neurotransmitter seperti CGRP, glutamat, serotonin dan nitrit oksida, vasodilatasi arteri serebri serta inflamasi neurogenic. Tata laksana migrain dengan konsumsi triptan didapatkan efek samping yang tak terduga antara penggunaan obat tersebut dengan kejadian iskemik serebrovaskular, jantung coroner dan hipertensi berat. Saat ini, telah ditemukan tata laksana terbaru dan sudah diakui untuk penyakit migrain. Pengobatan yang berhubungan dengan CGRP dan senyawa magnesium menawarkan manfaat yang cukup besar dibandingkan obat-obatan yang sudah ada.

Abstract

To know the effect of cupping therapy to decrease cholesterol levels in patients at Home Healthy hiperkolestrolemia Al-hijamaah in the year 2014/2015. Research observational analytic-numerical categorical pairs. Samples were hypercholesterolemic patients at Home Healthy Al-hijamaah in 2014/2015. Taken by using non-probability sampling technique with purposive sampling method. The primary data obtained directly from respondents, and analyzed by paired T test. The number of samples involved in this study were 45 respondents. Most of the samples were aged 20-45 years were 28 respondents (62.2%), female 27 respondents (60%), and average cholesterol levels before cupping therapy of 262.84 mg / dl and the average after cupping therapy 239.53 mg / dl. In this study, the results of Test Independent t test t test = 2.64 with p = 0,010 (p 0.05) which means that there are significant differences in cholesterol levels before and after cupping therapy

Abstract

Retinoblastoma is the most common intraocular tumor in children. Retinoblastoma tumors consist of areas with high angiogenic activity and other areas with low oxygen pressure conditions. Tumor cells that survive in this hypoxic region have been shown to be resistant to chemotherapy and radiation, namely standard retinoblastoma therapy which selectively targets rapidly dividing cell populations, so that therapy is needed that can reach up to the hypoxic cells. 2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG) has been shown to be effective in reducing hypoxic areas in tumors, reducing tumor buds, and inhibiting angiogenesis. to discuss the glycolytic 2-DG inhibitors as adjuvant therapy in retinoblastoma. The authors searched for medical articles in the PubMed and ResearchGate literature databases with the keywords treatment, 2-deoxy-D-glucose, 2-DG, retinoblastoma, and cancer. The words are combined with OR or AND using Boolean logic. Based on the selection according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 4 articles were used as the main reference for writing this review literature. 2-DG will disregulate (inhibit) the process of angiogenesis through upregulation of Estrogen Receptor 1 Nuclear (ESR 1), ubiquitin, jun activation domain binding protein 1 (JAB1), G-protein alpha S, and CAPER in the apical part of the tumor and B3GNT1 upregulation , CEPT1, PABPC1, myotrophin, HAX1 in the postero-lateral part of the tumor. H3, DTX1, RPL12, and bone morphogenic (BMP) histones are also upregulated so that hypoxia can be inhibited. With this mechanism, the tumor burden can be suppressed. Glycolytic 2-DG inhibitors with anti-angiogenesis and anti-hypoxic abilities can be developed as adjuvant therapy for advanced retinoblastoma patients.

Abstract

Alzheimer sebagai penyakit penyebab utama dari kasus demensia pada lansia terus meningkat seiring dengan pertumbuhan jumlah penduduk usia lanjut. Diagnosis, pencegahan, dan secara khusus penanganan penyakit Alzheimer perlu diteliti lebih lanjut. Penelitian terapi seluler dengan menggunakan sel punca adipose-derived stem cell (ADSC) serta penggunaan bioteknologi platelet-rich plasma (PRP) menunjukkan sebuah penanganan dengan metode baru dan potensial oleh karennya dibutuhkan kajian analisis terkait potensi sebagai kandidat terapi Alzheimer. Kajian dilakukan sesuai dengan panduan PRISMA dari sejumlah database yang diakses daring. Dari hasil analisis studi literatur, ADSC dan PRP penurunan konsentrasi peptida amiloid beta (Aβ), pertumbuhan neuron dan sinaptogenesis, aktivasi mikroglia dengan fenotipe antiinflamasi, peningkatan produksi sitokin antiinflamasi, peningkatan stabilitas sinaps dan dendrit, peningkatan viabilitas neuron, peningkatan neurogenesis, dan penurunan neurodegenerasi.dan peningkatan kognitif. Potensi ADSC dan PRP cukup menjanjikan walaupun PRP masih belum banyak yang meneliti potensinya pada penyakit Alzheimer. Studi lebih lanjut mengenai kedua faktor bioaktif tersebut diperlukan untuk meningkatkan potensi serta kemungkinan kombinasi terapi ADSC dan PRP untuk penyakit Alzheimer.

Abstract

Self-Directed Learning (SDL) is a student-centered learning in which the process and experience of learning are individually regulated and controlled by the student. The implementation of SDL is an interaction of several aspects, including self-motivation, self-control, and self-monitoring skills. Students with strong motivation in the learning process will have more consistency in implementing the SDL. Inner self-motivation will give better impacts than that obtained from the outside. This study aimed to analyze the correlation of intrinsic motivation to SDL implementation in the Faculty of Medicine of Halu Oleo University. The study was quantitative research using a cross-sectional design. Subjects were 91 sophomores of the Faculty of Medicine of Halu Oleo University (UHO). Data were collected using a total sampling method. SDL implementation and intrinsic motivation were measured using Self-Directed Learning Readiness Scale (SDLRS) and Intrinsic Motivation Inventory (IMI) questionnaires, respectively. Data were statistically analyzed using Pearson’s correlation. Second-year of medical students of UHO showed a high intrinsic motivation and SDL implementation. Students with high intrinsic motivation were found to apply high implementation of SDL. Moreover, students with moderate intrinsic motivation also showed high implementation of SDL. There is a significant correlation between intrinsic motivation to SDL implementation among medical students of UHO. Further research is required to investigate other factors that affect the SDL implementation of medical students.

Abstract

To determine the relationship of obesity to incidence rate of hypercholesterolemia on the employees of DPRD Office of South Sulawesi Province. Methods: Analytic observational study with cross sectional design. Samples were employees of the DPRD Office of South Sulawesi Province December 2014. The data were obtained from the primary data through direct examination to determine body mass index and blood cholesterol levels and through a questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solutions) for windows version 21 with Pearson Chi Square test. Results: The number of samples involved in this study were 100 respondents. Most of the samples were classified as obese as many as 81 people (81.0%) and as many as 5 people (5.0%) were classified as non-obese. In as many as 83 people found respondents (83.0%) were hypercholesterolemia and normal only 17 people (17.0%). Conclusion: In this study, the results of a statistical test with a p-value of 0.000. This means that there is a relationship of obesity to incidence rate of hypercholesterolemia on the employees of the DPRD office of South Sulawesi Province December 2014.

Abstract

Cataracts are turbidity lenses that are normally transparent and light is passed through to the retina, which is caused by various things resulting in impaired vision. One of the causes of cataract is diabetes mellitus which manifests clinically as hyperglycemia. Various therapies have been developed to deal with cataracts. However, the therapy is a definitive form of surgery which causes long-term complications in the form of blindness. One of the therapeutic modalities developed today is stem cell therapy. Stem cells are undifferentiated cells and have high potential to become other cells. Stem cells can differentiate to repair damaged lentic capsules and the formation of subepithelial lamellar fibers. Stem cells proliferate and migrate will be assisted by estrogen. However, the use of estrogen often causes bad side effects for the body. So, estrogen replacement is needed which has the same effect but does not produce side effects.Tempe is a typical Indonesian food that has isoflavonoid content. Isoflavonoids are able to function as phytoestrogens in the human body and have the same function as 17β-estradiol. In stem cells, phytoestrogens will play a role in activating paracrine actin (Akt) and stromal cell derived-1 (SDF-1) signals. Phytoestrogens will accelerate the rate of mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) / induced pluripotential stem cell (iPSC) and bind to the right receptors, so as to increase the work effectiveness of stem cells. Meanwhile, in diabetic cataract conditions the potential for garlic methanolic has recently been developed in relation to antioxidant effects, effective hypoglycemic and scavenging oxidative stress factors such as H2O2 and decreasing protein fraction in the lens due to protein insolubility. Keywords : Tempe, Stem Cell, Phytoestrogens, Garlic, and Metanolic.

Abstract

Ginkgo Biloba adalah Salah satu tanaman yang tergolong sebagai fitofarmaka atau obat-obatan yang berasal dari tanaman ialah Ginkgo biloba Tanaman G.biloba (Gb) termasuk dalam familia Ginkgoceae. Di dalam ekstrak G.biloba terdapat antioksidan, antivirus, antiinflamasi, dan juga antikarsinogenik. Dan juga telah dinyatakan bahwa ekstrak G.biloba mempunyai efek yang baik terhadap fungsi SSP (sistem saraf pusat). Untuk mengetahui manfaat G.biloba dalam penanganan gangguan neurologis. Dibuat dengan menggunakan metode studi pustaka untuk mengumpulkan referensi yang valid mengenai tanaman Ginkgo Biloba yang dapat digunakan sebagai penanganan gangguan Neurologi. Hasil literature reviewberdasarkan studi pustaka yang dilakukan menunujukkan bahwa tanaman Ginkgo Biloba yang dapat digunakan sebagai penanganan penyakit neuorologis dengan kandungan dan efek terhadap tubuh. Dalam literature review ini didapatkan tanaman  Ginkgo Biloba yang dapat digunakan sebagai penanganan gangguan neurologis
