Abstract

This research is a classroom action research which aims to improve the chemistry learning outcomes of the reaction rate concept by using the Discovery Project Based Learning (PjBL) model based on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) at SMAN 1 Lemahabang, Cirebon Regency. This research was conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisted of 1-2 meetings. The subjects of this study were 34 students of class XI-MIPA 3 at SMAN 1 Lemahabang. The data collection instruments used in this research were a test method for students, monitoring the conditions of the teaching and learning process and questionnaires to find out students' responses to the learning carried out. Based on the research analysis showed that in the first cycle there was an increase in student learning outcomes in the concept of reaction rate, namely the value before being given action with good and very good criteria of 11,76% and after being given action the value was 44,11%, then in the second cycle it increased to 79, 41%, while students who scored below the Minimum Completeness Criteria experienced a decline. Therefore, the use of the STEM-based Discovery PjBL model could improve the chemistry learning outcomes of students on the reaction rate material.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the best types of natural food for growth performance, survival rate and color brightness of zebrafish (Branchyndanio rerio). The research method of this research was using the experimental method with Completely Randomized Design (RAL) by using one factor of 4 treatment levels and 4 replications. The tratments were using pellet (control), Moina sp., Tubifex sp., and Chironomous sp. The fry size was around 1,6±1,03 cm and weight was 0,06±0,04 gr then reared in the aquarium by 15 liter of water and 15 fishes of stocking density each aquarium. The fish were reared for 60 days and feed was given as much as 10% of biomass weight, e times a day of feeding frequency. The results showed that the best treatment was Tubifex sp by giving absolute longevity for 0.58 cm, absolute weight growth for 0.14 gr, specific growth rate for 2.99% and fish survival for 98%, while the best color brightness by giving a Chironomous sp. with value 7,14±1,73. The conclusion is different types of natural diets significantly affects the growth performance, survival rate and color brightness of zebrafish (Branchyndanio rerio).

Abstract

The Contextual-based videos link material with concepts contained in real life. So, it produces learning that is appropriate to student context. Contextual learning emphasizes the process of full student involvement to be able to understand the material being studied and relate it to life situations. This study aims to determine the differences in the improvement of learning outcomes, learning activities, and student learning responses to the use of contextual-based instructional video media. Data collection techniques used were observation, tests, and a survey to respondents in the form of questionnaire questions on contextual-based learning video assessments. The research was conducted at SMA NU Juntinyuat. The design of this study was the Control Group Pretest-Posttest design. One group was given a treatment (experimental group) and the other was not treated (control group). The results showed that: (1) there was a significant difference in student learning outcomes between the experimental class and the control class, (2) the average percentage of student learning activities increased to 92%. (3) The percentage of the average student response questionnaire as a whole is 83% with very strong criteria.

Abstract

An interesting learning strategy that triggers students to be bold in expressing their ideas, namely the Active Learning Strategy. The research objectives were to determine (1) the application of the Active Learning strategy type Everyone is A Teacher Here, (2) the difference in biology learning outcomes between students who applied the “Everyone is A Teacher Here type of Active Learning strategy using animated videos and lectures, and (3) response students towards the implementation of the Active Learning strategy type Everyone is A Teacher Here. Data collection techniques used were tests, observations, and questionnaires. The research sample was students of class X-8 (experimental class) and class X-5 (control class) MAN Cirebon 1, using purposive sampling. Data analysis used T test. The results of the study were (1) student activity increased after implementing the Active Learning strategy type Everyone is A Teacher Here using animated video, was in the good category (30,54%), (2) there was a difference in the improvement of learning outcomes between students who apply the Active Learning strategy type Everyone is A Teacher Here using animated videos and lectures, (3) student responses to the Active Learning strategy type Everyone is A Teacher Here is in the strong category (75,90%).

Abstract

Rice fields are one of the wetland ecosystems that have a variety of components in it. One of biotic components found in rice fields is birds. This study aims to identify the type of diurnal birds in the Bergas Lor rice fields of Semarang Regency, Central Java. Observations were carried out in the morning and in the evening in August 2020. The data collection technique used was the purposive sampling method. The results showed that there were 19 species of birds from 13 families. The birds found were mostly grain-eating birds because the observation location was in the form of rice fields.

Abstract

The relationship between student context and subject matter is often emphasized in science learning. Improving student learning outcomes also always receives special attention. However, student learning outcomes still do not meet the minimum completeness criteria. The Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach is an alternative solution because the concept of learning relates the material being taught with the situations around students. This study aims to determine the students’ responses to science learning using the CTL approach and its effect on science learning outcomes, material properties and changes in the shape of objects. This research was an experimental research. The sampling technique used was saturated sampling. The research sample was the fifth grade students of SD UnggulanMuslimat NU Kudus, totaling 60 students. The independent variable was the CTL learning model while the dependent variable was the science learning outcome. The research instrument used were tests and non-tests. The results of the study were the students' responses were categorized as very strong and there was a significant effect of the CTL approach on science learning outcomes. These findings are not only to improve student learning outcomes but also provide knowledge about the benefits of science in the context of the student's environment.
