Abstract

The extant literature on ‘remote working’ have mostly focused on its advantages, disadvantages and consequences from the employer, employee & social perspectives as separate parameters with little research exploring the context of remote working from an overall strategic management perspective. The fear and threat evolved from the COVID -19 pandemic have urged tens of millions of global workforce to work from home which was a way of working that had struggled to gain traction before the pandemic. In this ‘new normal’ there is a significant tendency for the remote working to continue in the long run which requires organizations to strategically plan and implement the remote working culture. In consistent with the strategic planning, this review paper explores the existing literature and aims to identify a SWOT Analysis of remote working that would be useful for the current ‘new normal’ context. The thematic analysis approach has taken and through that, four themes have identified and defined from the literature review towards achieving objective of the paper. Literature from the conceptual & empirical studies conducted over the past two decades on remote working have been considered for the review.

Abstract

Public awareness on environmentally sound practices viz-a-viz strategies that may also sustain a balanced work life culture cannot be overemphasized. Telecommuting represents one of those viable environmentally sound practices that offer flexibility to employees through working from their homes which to a great extent have improved employee’s productivity. This study assessed the level of awareness about telecommuting as well as the factors underpinning employee’s interest and preference for telecommuting in Lagos, Nigeria. A total of 220 responses from structured questionnaires was designed to capture the level of awareness, interest, readiness, and perception of employees towards telecommuting in Lagos Island, both descriptive and inferential analysis was used for the study. The study shows that 72% were aware of telecommuting and its associated benefits while about 90% opined that telecommuting will be suitable to their work. There was also a significant positive but weak relationship among employee’s preference for telecommuting and factors such as age, marital status, awareness about telecommuting, and the experience of traffic gridlock and its associated stress .This study concluded that with the high level of awareness of telecommuting, organisations should gainfully harness the wide array of prospects that accompanies the adoption of telecommuting which has the long term advantage of stimulating labor productivity.

Abstract

This study evaluates factors influencing the adoption of telecommuting among the selected organisations in Nigeria. A questionnaire research tool was used basically to capture the level of awareness, interest, readiness, and perception of Nigerian organisations towards telecommuting. A total of 180 questionnaires was administered to 180 Nigerian firms in Lagos, 120 questionnaires were counted valid for analysis. This study observed high level of awareness among Nigerian organisations but paradoxically, this high level of awareness does not engender the adoption of telecommuting by those organisations. Findings revealed that the fright of difficulty in assessing employees’ performance, inadequacy of ICT infrastructures and the fear of corporate data theft are the key factors inhibiting the adoption of telecommuting by organisations. This study concluded there is a need for organisations to be aware of the benefits of telecommuting and how telecommuting policy can be devised to strategically fit into the work culture for productivity. Abstract

This study aimed to identify the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on managerial accounting and its adjustments in financial markets to help business society deal with their businesses and companies during the pandemic. This study was conducted in one of the cities in the Metropolitan Manila in Quezon City, Philippines, employing the descriptive design under the qualitative research method through an interview protocol and online form methods with accountants, managers, and business owners using Fiedler’s Contingency Theory. This research initiative is a great help for those who are suffering in their business, especially managers, accountants, and business owners. Managerial accounting in the financial markets has had a lot of difficulties since this pandemic occurred. In this case, businesses were not prepared for the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic. Some business owners had to close their businesses for three months because of the outbreak. Business owners are taking steps to become affable and open to the consumers that might purchase their products. Despite the pandemic, company owners are determined to stay open. They knew how to cope with scammers, especially those who ran an online company during this pandemic crisis. Abstract

We attempt to explain how market power impacts bank dividend payment behaviors in Nepal by taking the sample from the commercial banking sector employing a panel data regression model. Using the Lerner Index (LI), a non-structural measure of market power or lack of competition, we found that market power inversely but statistically insignificantly affect dividend payment. This finding leads us to conclude that market power-a proxy of more or less competition is not an important and influencing factor to the dividend decisions in commercial banking sectors signifying that competition does not seem helpful in mitigating agency conflicts. It is also concluded that banking dividend payouts are not the result of the punitive influence of product market antagonism. Further, among other firm-specific determinants, bank size and leverage significantly positively whereas asset growth significantly negatively affect the dividend decision. However, profitability is found insignificant determinant of dividend payment. The paper enriches and contributes to the literature on banking dividend payout and helps to identify the key factors that affect banking dividend decision-making.  Keywords : Banks, Market competition, Market power, Lerner Index, Nepal

Abstract

Urbanisation is now becoming a global phenomenon, high rate of population growth; declining opportunities in rural areas and shift from stagnant and low paying agriculture sector to more paying urban occupations, largely contribute to urbanization process. This paper studies the level of physical and social infrastructural progress in Kohima and Mokokchung districts using seven indicators such as education institution, health, banking, postal service, water supply, surface road cover and electricity. Research survey was conducted in Kohima and Mokokchung in 2017-18. The sample wards were selected using random sampling methods. The data’s collected were than analyzed using Principal Components Analysis Model. The findings shows that 50% of urban areas are in developed and 37.5% in moderately developed and 12% in less developed with regard to surface road, medical facilities, education, postal service, banking and water supply. The study highlights that urbanisation has positive impact on infrastructure development in sample districts. The study also found the urban areas of Kohima are in leading position than Mokokchung with regard to social and physical infrastructure. The paper concludes by suggesting suitable policies for developing and less developed areas. Keywords: Urbanisation, Social and Physical Infrastructure

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the level of customer satisfaction to services and explain the factors that must be prioritized in order to meet consumer expectations in Senyum Media Bondowoso. The method used is quantitative research with the Servqual method and the Kano model. The population of this research is all the customers of the Senyum Media Bondowoso store and the samples used are 150 samples using the Purposive Sampling technique. The results of the research show that the quality of service in CV. Senyumindo Mediatama Bondowoso is not in accordance with what is desired by customers, because the calculation is carried out using the Service Quality method, the results obtained are the average value of service quality, the average value of service quality for all dimensions of service quality is -4,967. On the other hand, for the Kano category is in the Indifferent category, which means that the attributes that are in the category of less attention by consumers, therefore the existence of these attributes does not affect the decrease or increase in the level of satisfaction of consumers. This category has no effect on consumer satisfaction with functional or dysfunctional services and goods.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of transformational leadership on organizational culture. The research was conducted on Small and Medium Enterprises in the Food and Minimum Industry Sector in Medan City. The sample in this study were employees in the Food and Minimum Industry Sector in Medan City. 350 questionnaires were distributed, 188 were returned. Thus the participants in this study amounted to 188 people. The data is carried out with Structural Equation Modeling. The results show that transformational leadership can improve the corporate culture of the food and beverage industry in Medan City. Suggestions in this study are for the owner as the owner to improve leadership and good organizational culture.
