Abstract

Tooth brushing behavior at the right time (after breakfast and before bed at night) in the province of Jakarta is still low at 3.5%. Proportion of Indonesian children experiencing dental problems aged 5 to 9 years is 28.9%, while those aged 10 to 14 years was 25.2%. This study aims to test the effectiveness of arousing fear warning method in improving the intention of students in elementary school grade IV to brush their teeth at the right time. The study participants were 57 students in the fourth grade from an elementary school (SD) in Jakarta. The type of study was pre-experimental, with a one-group pretest-posttest design, in which one group of students were required to fill the pretest before intervention (arousing fear warning method), and they were asked to fill posttest after the intervention. The dependent variable was measured by Intention of brushingteeth at the right time questionnaire which was designed based on Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) from Ajzen. The questionnaire consists of 42 item statements using Likert scale. The data was then analyzed using paired samples t-test, and the result showed no significant improvement in posttest scores, which means fear arousing warning method was not effective for improving the intentions of the fourth grade elementary school brushing teeth at the right time.

Abstract

Stress, anxiety, and depression are known to worsen the quality of life of patiens with coronary heart disease (CHD). However, the detection of mental health conditions has not been carried out in an integrated way in the management of CHD patients. The purpose of this study was to assess the determinants of stress, anxiety, and depression in CHD patients at RSUD Dr. Saiful Anwar. This cross-sectional study was carried out from December 2019 to January 2020 in the cardiac polyclinic of RSUD Dr. Saiful Anwar, Malang. CHD patients who underwent outpatient care at the cardiac clinic in 2019 were the population in this study. A total of 90 CHD patients were selected purposively to be the study sample. Logistic regression was used to determine the predictors of stress, anxiety, and depression among CHD patients. The study found that as many as 17.8% of CHD patients experienced mild to very severe stress, 47.8% experienced mild to very severe anxiety, and 66.7% experienced mild to very severe depression. Sex, age, heart failure status, emotional support, instrumental support, and information support were not predictors of stress, anxiety, or depression (p-value> 0.05). Monitoring mental health conditions and providing psychoeducation should be done during the outpatient care. It is expected to ensure the mental health of CHD patients in good condition.

Abstract

Air pollution can be interpreted as the presence of foreign substance or level substance contained in the air, so that it can cause changes in the composition of the air from normal conditions. The presence of pollutants sourced from moving and immovable sources can be in the form of dust particles that can affect the level of air quality in the environment and interfere with human health, so that air quality is measured. The measurement of air quality particulates carried out aims to determine the quality of outdoor air at PSDKU Airlangga University in Banyuwangi. This type of research is descriptive observational research. The method used in sampling is purposive sampling. This research was conducted in 5 locations, namely Sobo basketball court, student parking lot, outdoor student discussion area I, Sobo campus outdoor canteen, and outdoor student discussion area II. The result of measurements of dust particulate levels showed that all places were in the good category, but the student parking lot had the highest average which is equal to 1,572 µ/m3, compared to the other 4 places. Efforts that can be made to overcome the high levels of dust particulates in PSDKU Airlangga University in Banyuwangi include reducing the use of motorized vehicles, as well as always covering the helmet and wearing masks when driving, as well as care free day policies in the campus area.
