Abstract

Mangrove forests are ecosystems that make up coastal areas and river estuaries. The examples of mangrove ecosystems found in Indonesia are in Segara Anakan, Central Java. One of the aquatic biota with the economic value found in the mangrove forest ecosystem is the mud crab (Scylla spp.). The purpose of this study was to assess the distribution of mangrove crabs (Scylla spp.) to the presence of mangrove species in the mouth of the Donan River, Segara Anakan. A sampling of crabs and observations of mangrove vegetation were carried out at five stations spread from the river to the sea. The results showed that there were three types of mangrove crabs caught in the vicinity of the study, namely Scylla tranquebarica, S. olivacea, and S. serrata. The types of mangroves found include Rhizophora apiculata, R. mucronata, Avicennia rumphiana, A. alba, A. officinalis, and Nypa. Regression analysis showed that mangrove density correlated with the abundance of Scylla tranquebarica and Scylla olivacea, but contradicts the abundance of Scylla serrate. PCA analysis showed that the Crab species Scylla tranquebarica and Scylla olivacea were associated with mangroves of Avicennia alba, Avicennia rumphiana, and Rhizophora apiculata. Meanwhile, Scylla serrata crabs are associated with Avicennia officinalis.

Abstract

Crown Golf Lake is a shallow ornamental lake located in Cluster Crown Golf Housing, Pantai Indah Kapuk, North Jakarta. The eutrophication was occurred in these waters which will reduce its function as an ornamental lake. The aim of this research is to analyse the correlation between P concentration found in water and sediment at Crown Golf Lake. Analysis of water and sediment samples was conducted at the Laboratory of Aquatic Productivity and Environment, Department of Aquatic Resources Management, FPIK IPB University. STELLA 9.0.2 is used for management simulation of Crown Golf Ornamental Lake. Based on result, there were 5 out of 13 water quality parameters that not correspond with class II quality standard in PP No. 82 of 2001. The P concentration in water during observation tends to increase, while for the sediments, the results tend to decrease. The result of simulation scenario, if a management scenario is carried out with the use of four waterwheels during the six hours of operation, the P condition in the lake water will tends to be stable. The presence of P in water is not closely related to the presence of P in the sediment, the presence of P in the sediment is influenced by DO and the temperature of the lower water column.

Abstract

Ebony Lake is an ornamental lake, where its surrounding domestic activity which can produce waste that may affect water quality including organism in there, such as zooplankton. Ebony Lake has become the study object to see correlation between zooplankton community and water quality. This research had been done between April-August 2014 in 5 station every month. Zooplankton community in Ebony Lake consists of the phylum Rotifera, Crustacea, and Protozoa. The highest abundance of zooplankton is Brachionus from Rotifera. The phylum Rotifera has a strong negative correlation with TSS, turbidity, and ammonia, whilst it has strong positive correlation with acidity/pH. The high value of TSS, turbidity, and ammonia, followed by the low abundance of Rotifers; while low pH will be followed by high abundance of Rotifers. The phylum Protozoa has a strong positive correlation with TSS and negative with temperature.

Abstract

Abstract

Fringescale sardinella (Sardinella fimbriata) and mackerel tuna (Euthynnus affinis) are two pelagic fish caught in Sunda Strait. Small pelagic groups are one of the fisheries resources that are under a lot of pressure due to exploitation activities. Overfishing conditions can result in vulnerability and disrupt the sustainability of resources. The aims of this study is to determine the level of vulnerability of fringescale sardinella and mackerel tuna. Secondary data collection was carried out from April to July 2015 at PPP Labuan Banten. Productivity and vulnerability analyzes were carried out using PSA (Productivity-Susceptibility Analysis) software. The vulnerability index values โ€‹โ€‹of tembang and tuna fish were 1.03 and 1.00, respectively. This value shows that both fish into the criteria of being less vulnerable.
