Abstract

Dental caries is a dental hard tissue disease that attacks almost all people in the world. Fluoride in water is very important for dental health, especially for children, this is because the right amount of intake can support the formation of tooth enamel that is resistant to damage caused by mouth. This study aims to determine the correlation of fluoride level in well water with the number of dental caries in elementary school children in the city of Surabaya in 2017. This research was analytic observational with a cross-sectional approach, located in four State Primary Schools in Surabaya City, representing North Surabaya, East Surabaya, South Surabaya and West Surabaya. The mean value of DMF-T of the study subjects was 1.58 (low category), the mean fluoride level in well water was 0.457 mg / L (low category). The results showed that the presence of fluoride in well water did not contribute to the low DMF-T value in this study. Keywords: Caries status, Well water, Fluoride levels

Abstract

In 2008, it was reported that the number of women giving birth with sectio caesarea (SC) increased 4 times compared to the last 10 years before. Childbirth figures in the United States as much as 35% of all childbirths, and in Asia as much as 28%. WHO reported that the incident of SC childbirth in developing countries occured about 10-15% of all types of labor. Childbirth with SC is not considered as a new thing for some mothers as well as the mothers from upper middle class. It is proved by the increasing of Indonesian SC childbirth of 5% to 20% in the last 20 years. There are some of the complications arising from the SC. One of those is the pain in the area of the incision. This study aimed to examine the effect of therapeutic essential fragrance of roses through inhalation treatment to the pain scale of SC post-surgery patients in obstetrics ward in the H. Abdul Manap hospitals, Jambi in 2013. This study used quasi-experimental research which was designed with one group pre test-post test. The data was collected using a verbal description scale (verbal response scale). Based on the results of the analysis showed that there was a significant reduction in patient pain scale after the treatment of roses essential inhalation was given (p-value = 0.003). Statistical test results showed that the optimal decline in patient pain scale before and after the treatment. That could be stated that the decline of the pain scale was optimal due to the decline from an average of 3.27 (fourth quartile) to 2.97 (second quartiles). The pain scale of post-surgery patients of sectio Caesarea before they had been given the rose essential inhalation treatment had an average pain scale between 3.05 to 3.48, conversely when they had the treatment resulted the decline of pain scale with the ranges from 2.97 to 3.25 which the lowest value scale was 2 and the highest was 4. It is suggested that the use of essential rose inhalation treatment could be an alternative in order to reduce the pain of sectio Caesarea post-surgery patiens and it is expected improving students proficiency in the non-pharmacological pain management. Abstract

One factor of unfinished root canal treatment is a factor of knowledge, motivation and ability about root canal treatment that affects a person compliance to overcome the problems which they experience. There are many patients who are not come to complete their root canal treatment. The purpose of this study is to analyze patient compliance, motivation and ability towards the compliance of root canal treatment. The type of research used was cross sectional. The subjects of this study were all root canal treatment patients who came to dental polyclinics from July to October. In this study data collection methods used were questionnaires and observations. Data analysis were analyzed using Fisher exact test. The results of this study showed that there was no relationship between knowledge, motivation and ability towards the compliance of root canal treatment. Abstract

Background: Fresh cow’s milk is an almost complete source of nutrition. The condition with a less clean environment can ease the occurrence of milk’s contamination. The contamination can come from a variety of sources such as cow’s skin, the udder water, soil, dust, human handling, equipment, and air. The most common contamination in cow’s milk is from bacteria. One of the bacteria is Escherichia coli. The objectives of the research are to determine the relation of the personal hygiene of the cow milkers and sanitation with Escherichia coli bacterial contamination in fresh cow’s milk. Methods: This research was a quantitative research with the cross-sectional approach with total sampling technique used which means the sample was all of the cow milkers in the village. The research used questionnaires, laboratory tests, and analysis of data used univariate and bivariate test with Fisher's exact statistical test. The laboratory tests used MPN Escherichia coli. Results: According to this research showed about 55% of respondent did not have good personal hygiene. The sanitation variable showed the majority of cow milkers did have no good sanitation about 62.5%. From 40 samples of fresh cows milk, 32 samples of milk were contaminated by the Escherichia coli. The relation between the personal hygiene of cow milkers with the contamination of Escherichia coli showed the (p-value 0.014) and for the relations between sanitation with the contamination of Escherichia coli in fresh cows milk bout (p-value 0.036). Conclusion: There was a relation between the personal hygiene of cow milkers and sanitation with Escherichia coli bacterial contamination in fresh cows milk in the people's farm of Gondang Umbulharjo, Cangkringan, Sleman. Abstract

Background: Work stress is what one gets from doing a job or profession like being a teacher. Work stress may be harmful both physical and, or emotional. In today’s generation of working professionals, occupational stress is a significant issue. The increasing incidence of stress among teachers, in particular, has adversely affected their work performance and how they maintain a balance between personal lives and work. Objectives: This purpose of this study was to determine the level of stress at work and the balance between work and private life and its relation to the Job performance of selected high school teachers. Methods: This quantitative research used a descriptive research approach is used in administering the questionnaire to determine the level of professional stress, the perceived balance between professional and private life, and the teaching performance of secondary teachers. The population of the study participated in 106 Secondary Teachers. The researcher made sure that the instrument is conducted to the respondents and carefully follow the procedure. Their responses were tallied and treated to the following statistical treatment used are as follows: Ranking is to determine the relationship between a set of items and also to determine the profile of the respondents through the computation of frequency and percentage, Weighed is to gauge the average value of responses to items in the questionnaire; Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Chi-square Test is to determine the significant degree of relationship between teachers’ profile and occupational stress, work-life balance, and job performance, to further test the considerable result of the Pearson Product Moment Correlation, the computed data are subjected to t-test wherein the computed t-test is compared to the tabular value of significance with the specified degree of freedom. The questionnaire is a standardized test and tested in Cronbach alpha with a value higher than .60. Results: This study revealed that the occupational stress of secondary school teachers does not exceed very high levels of occupational stress. All six dimensions of occupational stress – supports, demands, change, relationships, control, and role, contribute only marginally to the overall stress experienced by the respondents. It showed in the result and interpreted as Slightly Stressed of the overall composite mean. The respondent teachers perceive their work-life balance, in terms of work spillover in personal life (WSPL) and personal life spillover in work (PLSW) to be Good. From these findings, the researcher can infer that secondary school teachers can strike the right balance between their work life and personal life. However, there is still a lot of room for improvement before the respondents can be able to achieve a perfect and excellent work-life balance. This study is deemed beneficial to specific individuals and a group of people: high school teachers, principals, students, parents, and other academic leaders and institutions.
