Abstract

Profesionalisme merupakan kata yang sering terdengar dalam masyarakat modern. Munculnya kata tersebut dalam wacana publik seiring dengan tuntutan masyarakat modern yang mengedepankan kualitas dan kuantitas dalam kinerja.Gagasan ini memilik latar belakang kapitalisme. Sebagaimana digambarkan oleh Bertand Russel dalam The Prospects of Industrial Civilization (1996) kapitalisme telah meletakkan ukuran kesuksesan pada peningkatan jumlah produksi yang memberikan keuntungan berlipatganda bagi pemilik modal. Dalam bingkai pengertian seperti ini, lpengertian profesionalitas diidentikkan dengan peningkatan kuantitas dan kualitas produk secara terus menerus. Modal untuk meningkatkan produk disandarkan pada pengetahuan yang memadai dan penguasaan teknologi secara intensif. Atas dasar inilah meningkatkan  hard skills dan kompetensi berkelanjutan diakui sebagai bagian peningkatan profesionalisme seseorang.

Good life is the final purpose of all men. Since Aristotle, ethics is supposed to achieve this purpose. It is a reflection of how to get good life. According to this philosophical assumption, being wealthy and briliant never guarantee the quality of human person. Abstract

Abstract: How does one become a good doctor? Can good character be taught?  This questions should be asked through the learning process in medical education. The purpose of medical education is to transmit the knowledge, train the skills, and instill values, good characters, and behaviours. Medical schools have traditionally depended on good role models as part of an informal curriculum to inculcate professional values, attitudes, and behaviours in students and young doctors. Abstract

Abstract: The introduction of autonomy as a fundamental important normative concept is probably the most important breakthrough in modern bioethics. However, when physicians and indeed, bioethicists, begin to assume that “autonomy is what we know is best for the patient”, it is doubtful whether in such a situation, autonomy as a principle is autonomy indeed and not some paternalistic conception of autonomy that is being imposed on patients. The main aim of this paper is to argue in favor of regarding autonomy as a choice. It argues that autonomy is a social concept, not an individual one. Therefore support for regarding it as a choice should naturally be found in autonomy’s social context, more specifically in its relationship with three major social determinants of contemporary medical practices, namely: freedom, culture and trust. Analysis of each of these relationships reveals the conclusion that the only “autonomous” way to foster autonomy is by regarding it as a choice. In other words, the first decision a patient should make is whether or not he wants to use his right for medical decision making. Kata Kunci: Otonomi, pilihan, kebebasan, kebudayaan, kepercayaan, tantangan modern

Abstract

Abstract: When we compare complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) with conventional medicine, the most striking difference is thatCAMis characterised by a broad cultural diversity, whereas conventional medicine is far more unified because of its scientific base. In former times the adverse attitude of conventional medicine towardsCAMwas much stronger than it is nowadays. The reason for this change is that the powerful position of the medical profession came to an end in our more liberal era. But this does not mean that the borderline betweenCAMand the medical profession may be wiped out. It seems ethically questionable when a professional physician turns to CAM practices, as it is also unethical when aCAMpractician appears as a physician.CAMshould be given freedom as long as it causes no harm to the patients.Kata Kunci: Bioetika, Pengobatan Komplementer dan Alternatif, Profesi Medis.

Abstract: This article talks about ethical problem in medicine, mainly about the old people with alzhimer. Being old is not anyone choise, because it is a natural proccess of every living beings. Many people get alzhimer by the time they get older. The ethical question according to that matter, is it ethical for the doctor to revealed his diognose to the alzhimer patient.
