Abstract

The aims of the research are to determine correlation between chlorophyll a distribution and oceanographyparameter at North Papua Waters dan to identify oceanography parameter which have strong correlation onchlorophyll a distribution especially on East Monsoon. The purpose of the research provide an information aboutthe pattern of chlorophyll a distribution and key oceanography paramater which most affected on chlorophyll aconcentration at the research site. Temperature and salinity were measured using CTD (Conductivity TemperatureDepth) Guildline-6000. Waters ample for measuring chemical paramater was done using Super Rosette Samplerthat have Niskin Bottle that submerge with the CTD. The result showed oceanography parameter affectedsignificantly on chlorophyll a concentration based on depth, chemical parameter. This effect was higher than othereffects in particular on surface water till 200 meter depth. Keywords: oceanography parameters, chlorophyll a distribution, East Moonsoon and North Papua Waters

Abstract

Basic of zoooplankton dependence on the phytoplankton to fulfill the requirement energy needs and creates acomplex relationship. The relationship of dependency between fitoplankton and zooplankton are very close, eventually can cause the changing in the zooplankton density in the time and space. The aims of study toaanalyze the changes in the zooplankton density on the phytoplankton abundance based on various time anddepth in the waters Badi Island of Pangkep Regency. The research has been carried out December 2009 toApril 2010. The results showed that changes in zooplankton density, not only because of the phytoplanktonabundance but also due to other factors such as sunlight. Keywords : density, abundance, zooplankton, phytoplankton, Badi Island

Abstract

A fishing port is expected to be functioning if the port is able to provide services and facilities to smoothing theproduction, processing and marketing processes invarious aspects. This study was aimed to determine factors tobe considered and expected to influence the transportation system services and to reveal the strategies and theirpriorities to improve the services. The research was conducted at PPN Ambon in Maluku Province. AnalyticalHierarchy Process (AHP) and SWOT Analyses were applied to analyze the data. The study reveals that theinfrastructure, accessibility, the fishing boat, the basic facilities, boat size, the fishing unit, licensing system, andthe education of the personnels were found to be in the high priority. Strategies to be implemented are needed tobe emphasized on the external access to the industrial area, water supply, fuel oil, and ice supply. Keywords: priority, strategy, services, capture fisheries,PPN Ambon.

Abstract

The vulnerability of Makassar coast was measured using parameters of Coastal Vulnerability Index (CVI). CVIvalue was determined using geomorphology, shoreline change, coastal slope, mean wave height, mean tidalrange, and relative sea level change parameters. The Makassar coast was divided into a numbers of cells, eachwith the length of 1 km and width of 0.5 kminto the sea. CVI values werecalculated for each cell and the coastalvulnerability wereclassifiedinto five categories: very low - low - medium - high - very high. The results show thatthe coastline with high to very high vulnerability index are located at the southern part of Makassar, while thenorthern coastline generally have low to moderate vulnerability. The CVI parameters which contributed to highsusceptibilitywere the coastal slope and the shoreline change parameters. Keywords: Coastal Vulnerability Index, coastal slope and shoreline change, Makassar.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the character of the waves, bathymetry, currents and tidal in 2012 in East Kutai.Significant wave height derived from AVISO, satellite altimeter TOPEX/POSEIDON, Jason 1 and Jason 2.Water depth data obtained from the C-MAP Norway map with a scale of 1: 250,000. Monthly surface currentdata obtained from JODC. Ebb tidal predictions obtained from DISHIDROS Navy. Wave data processingmethod using the ODV and processed with Surfer 8. Bathymetry visualized in 3D and 2D using Surfer 8 andArcGIS 10. Distribution of surface currents visualized with Surfer 8 wherein the interpolation process previouslyperformed on each cell domain area and conducted breakline on the cell data is mainland. Results showed thatthe wave pattern follows the seasonal wind patterns. Waves in the sea around the waters off of East Kutai have aheight ranging from 0.45 - 0.66 meters. High waves occur in the east of the season (July - August) wheregeographically these waters open to the east. The depth of the water reaches > 100 m at a distance of 3 milesfrom the coast, where the exposure to a wider shallow coastal can be seen around the mouth of the GulfSangkulirang. Current velocity relatively strong in March flows ranged from 0.13 - 1.75 m/sec with an averageof 1.32 m/sec. Generally move in the direction of flow from north to south following the pattern-orientedmorphology North Makassar Straits - south. Type tides are "mixed tide prevailing semidiurnal", where in oneday occurred twice ups and downs twice with different heights and periods. Keywords: wave, bathymetry, currents, tidal

Abstract

The aim of the research was to determine the fungsional of institution on utilization and management of flying fish eggs at Pa’lalakang Village, Takalar Regency. This study using qualitative research approach thatcharacterize as empirical cualitative and descriptive. Data was collected through in depth interview, observation and literature study. The result showed that the function of intstitution have been internalization onutilizing and managing of flying fish egg at Pa’lalakang Village, that including function in adaptation onutilization and management of flying fish. Those aspect have been implemented by fishermen community. Thestudy also found that achievement function was focus on goverment institution, social integration function wason community institution and maintenant function of culture was on fisherman household.
