Abstract

Damage to the liver can cause disruption of metabolism in the body, so a hepatoprotector is needed as a protector from liver damage which can be obtained from jamblang plants. The aim of this research is to know the content of active compounds contained in jamblang plants which work as hepatoprotectors. By reviewing some of the literature related to this, the results obtained were 10 articles used. In this study using Literature Review Article through electronic data sources, namely: Google Scholar, ScienceDirect and Pubmed which were published 10 years ago with the keywords: Syzygium cumini (L) and hepatoprotector. Based on the results of the research that has been done, the jamun plant contains the compounds β-sitosterol, friedelin, Betulinic acid, flavonoids, terpenes, alkaloids, phenolics, ellagic acid, glucoside, anthocyanins, kaempferol, quercetin, isoquercetin, myricetin, tannins, carbohydrates, albumin, and so on which can be used as antiviral, cardioprotective, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antidiabetic, carminative, antihypertensive, anti-atherosclerotic, antifungal, antioxidant and hepatoprotector. It can be concluded that the active compounds that work as hepatoprotectors are the chemical compounds flavonoids and β-sitosterol which are located in the fruit seeds and leaves.

Abstract

Hypertension is a disease characterized by an increase in systolic blood pressure of more than 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure of more than 90 mmHg on two measurements, with an interval of five minutes in a state of sufficient rest/calm. This study aims to determine the relationship between hypertension and the patient's gender and age on the incidence of hypertension and the rationality of using antihypertensive drugs in hypertensive patients at the Karawang Hospital Outpatient Installation in 2019. This research is an observational study with a cross-sectional descriptive analysis design. Data collection was carried out retrospectively using secondary data from medical records taken from Karawang Hospital in 2019 at Karawang Hospital. Next, calculate the use of antihypertensive drugs and evaluate the rationale for using antihypertensive drugs in hypertensive patients based on the right patient, right indication, right drug, and the right dose. Data were obtained for 60 patients compared to Dipiro and JNC VIII guidelines. The results showed that the most widely used antihypertensive drugs were amlodipine 15% and a combination of 2 drugs (amlodipine and candesartan) 85%. Evaluation of the rationality of using hypertension drugs in hypertensive patients as follows: right drug 91.7%, right indication 100%, right patient 100%, right dose 91.7% and there is no relationship between gender and age of the patient to the incidence of hypertension in Karawang Hospital.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia caused by defects in insulin secretion, insulin action or both. It is said diabetes mellitus if blood sugar levels exceed 150 mg/dL, where the normal limit for blood sugar is 70-150 mg/dL. Treatment with natural ingredients has low side effects if used correctly. One of the plants that has anti-diabetic activity is jamblang or often called juwet (Syzygium cumini (L.). literature was conducted using Google Scholar, Science Direct, Researchgate and PubMed which were published in 2010-2020 with keywords related to the topic "Andiabetic activity syzygium cumini, jambolanun, Eugenia Jambolan antidiabetic and active compounds". The results of a review that has been carried out on the content of active compounds in jamun (Syzygium cumini (L) Skeels as an antidiabetic indicate that the active compounds in jamun are quercetin, quercetin-3-0-glycosides, rutin, mycaminose, chalcone and stigmasterol which have the potential to as an antidiabetic.

Abstract

Beekeeping is the science and art of prolonging and maintaining health by using products obtained from honeycombs, such as honey, bee bread, bee pollen, propolis, and royal jelly. Currently, many studies are devoted to investigating the directed health benefits and fermacological properties of bee products due to their properties. One of the studies conducted was research on royal jelly. Royal jelly is widely used as a dietary nutritional complex to help combat various chronic health conditions, besides, it is one of the beneficial medicines for humans in both traditional and modern medicine. The aim of this research is that many fermacological activities such as antibacterial, antitumor, antiallergic, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory effects are associated with it. Royal jelly consists of water (50%-60%), protein (18%), carbonate (15%), ipid (3%-6%), mineral salts (1.5%), and vitamins. Based on modern spectrometric analysis, about 185 organic compounds have been detected in royal jelly.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country that is rich in a variety of natural resources, one of which is animal. Therefore, the isolation of gelatin from various other types of animals began to be developed. Gelatin is the result of the decomposition of animal protein which has found many functions in both the food and pharmaceutical fields. Gelatin is used as a stabilizer, gelling agent, binder, thickener, and emulsifier. The method used is to search for research journal literature through electronic databases such as Google Schoolar and Sciene Direct. The results of several studies show that gelatin has water content, ash content, protein content and fat content with several different animal raw materials.

Abstract

The Kangkung pagar (Ipomea carnea Jacq) leaves the one source of antioxidant activity. This plant is used as traditional medicine and has potensially anti-oxidant, anti-microbial, immunostimulant, anti-cancer, liver protector and many pharmacological activities. Antioxidant can neutralize of free radicals by inhibiting the occurrence of oxidant. The aim of this study to determine of result of phytochemical screening, antioxidant activity by DPPH and FRAP methods. Methods of this study are phytochemicals screening, extraction of Ipomea carnea Jacq leave by maceration with ethanol 96%., antioxidant assays by DPPH and FRAP by determine EC50 value and the absorbances from spectroscopy UV Vis. . The result of phytochemicals screening are appear of alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids, steroids, saponins and tannins and antioxidants assays result EC50 value by FRAP methods were n-hexane (27.08 ppm, ethyl acetate 55.53 ppm, ethanol 68.23 ppm. While the results EC50 by DPPH methods were n-hexane 71.89 ppm, ethyl acetate 48.31 ppm and ethanol 41.07 ppm. It concluded that ipomea carnea Jacq. It can be concluded that the leaves of Ipomea carnea Jacq are a potensial source of antioxidants.
