Abstract

Age group of 12 is uses as a standard age to asses dental disease globally (global caries monitoring age) to be compared internationally. The purpose of this experiment is to know the level of oral hygiene of sixth grade students in SDN 1  Nyuh Tebel Kecamatan Manggis Kabupaten Karangasem 2018. This study is a descriptive with survey design. The  population is all of sixth grade students (35 person). The data is primary which taken from direct examination. The results show that most student have debris value with moderate criteria  (0,7-1,8) is 22 students (62,86%)  and calculus with good criteria (0,0-0,6) is 17 students (48,57%). Based on sex, most of female have OHI-S in moderate criteria 14 students (77,78%) and there is no female has a good criteria for OHI-S. As the conclusion, debris index, calculus index, and OHI-S  in moderate criteria most common found in female.

Abstract

A person's knowledge influences oral health maintaining. Lack of dental health knowledge causes a person to ignore dental and oral health problem which often occuring dental problems, such as gum inflammation (gingivitis). Gingivitis is an inflammation of the gingiva caused by plaque. Gingivitis can also occur due to changes in hormonal factors such as during puberty. Based on the results of the 2018 Basic Health Research, the proportion of dental and oral health problems in Indonesia was 57.6%, with characteristics of gingival/swollen gums of 14.0% and characteristics of gingival/bleeding gums of 13.9%. In North Sulawesi, the cases of gingiva/gums with swelling was 18.2% and gingiva/gums with bleeding was 20.4%.  Objective: The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge on maintaining oral health and the incidence of gingivitis during puberty in students. Methods: This type of research is an analytical survey with a cross sectional study approach. This research was conducted in May 2022 located at 8 State Junior High School Manado. The research sample was 40 people, the research instrument used were a structured questionnaire, set diagnosis, periodontal probe and format gingival index. The data obtained were analyzed using the product moment correlation statistic test. Result:   the result is p=value 0.144 ( 0.05 ) and r count = -0.235 r table 0.320). The conclusion is that there is no correlation between the level of knowledge about maintaining oral health and the incidence of gingivitis during puberty.

Abstract

Pregnant women are one of the groups that are susceptible to dental and oral disease. The level of knowledge, attitude, and behavior of pregnant women can affect oral and dental health. The behavior that is often encountered is the time and way of brushing your teeth that are not right. This study aims to determine the level of knowledge and skills of brushing teeth in pregnant women at the Puskesmas Abiansemal III, Badung Regency 2023. This research is a descriptive research with survey design. The data used in this study were primary data and secondary data, by providing 20 questions and observation of brushing skills using a checklist. The results of this study totaling 31 pregnant women showed that the level of knowledge of brushing teeth was the most with sufficient criteria of 16 people (51.61%), good criteria as many as nine people (29.03%), and at least with less criteria of six people (19.36%). The percentage of brushing skills with the highest frequency was found in the criteria needing guidance, which was 14 people (45.16%), while the lowest frequency was found in the very good criteria, which was two people (6.45%). The conclusion of the results shows that, the average knowledge of respondents is 70 with sufficient criteria. The average skill of respondents was 58.39 with the criteria of needing guidance. In respondents who have a good level of knowledge, the majority have good criteria skills.

Abstract

The pregnant women is one group of the vulnerable in dental and oral diseases, because in generally there are  behavior changes and hormonal changes. This situation can effect the condition of the women’s periodontal tissue. The objective of this study is to knows the influencing factors which correlation with the periodontal tissue in the pregnant women in work area of UPTD Puskesmas I Denpasar Selatan in 2023.This research is an analytic survey, has been done in April 2023, with the number of samples are 55 persons. The samples has been taken with accidental sampling. The data analyzed with Kruskal Wallis and Cramer’s V to know the correlation between dependent and independent variables.The results of this research shows that most of pregnant women have behavior brushing their teeth with very good criteria (47.3%). There is not the pregnant women with healthy periodontal tissue. There is significance correlation between the behavior of tooth brushing and the condition of periodontal tissue, that is the better behavior tooth brushing, the better condition of periodontal tissue, with the number of significance value of 0.016 (less than 0.05). There is strong correlation between the age of pregnancy and the condition of periodontal tissue, with the number of significancy value of 0.18 (more than 0.15).The conclusion of this research are most of pregnant women have behavior tooth brushing with very good criteria, and there are correlation among the behavior of tooth brushing, the age of pregnancy with the condition of periodontal tissue. Based on the conclusion of this research, it is recommended that after the pregnancy examination, the pregnant women are referred to the dental clinic, and enhance the dental health promotion effort through various media.
