Abstract

This manuscript presents a critical analysis of human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir, aiming to shed light on the gravity of the ongoing crisis. The research focuses on the systematic nature of abuses, including extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, torture, sexual violence, and restrictions on freedom of expression and assembly. Employing a descriptive and analytical approach, the study examines the impact of these violations on civilians' lives in the conflict-ridden region, utilizing secondary data sources to provide a comprehensive understanding of the complex human rights situation. The findings reveal alarming statistics, with over 70,000 killings, 8,000 enforced disappearances, and 10,000 cases of torture documented since the insurgency began. Draconian laws like the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and the Public Safety Act (PSA) have granted security forces immunity, leading to arbitrary detentions and the use of force against civilians. Socio-economic consequences are substantial, with child labor, bonded labor, and forced marriages adding to the challenges. Minority communities, particularly the Muslim community, have faced discriminatory treatment, further exacerbating the crisis. The study emphasizes the urgency of addressing the human rights situation in Jammu and Kashmir, calling for concrete actions from the government and the international community. By highlighting the widespread violations and their impact on various aspects of life, this research urges collective efforts to safeguard the rights and well-being of the people in the region. It contributes to the growing body of knowledge on human rights in Jammu and Kashmir, advocating for justice, peace, and respect for human rights.

The findings of the study include high level of corruption among politica l leaders and public office holders, illegal oil activities as a result of unemployment, crude oil theft and its local distillation process as a major cause of environmental pollution. Abstract

Amidst the prevailing patriarchal culture that dominates various life dimensions, particularly in politics, women's political representation emerges as a beacon of change. Women often face multifaceted socio-political challenges, necessitating them to invest more resources and effort than their male counterparts to make their mark in politics. This research examines the roles and contributions of female legislators in the NTT Provincial DPRD for the 2019-2024 tenure, particularly in aligning with the interests of political parties and the broader categorization of women in legislative bodies. The strategies employed to allocate positions to women are diverse, reflecting their aspirations to enhance their influence and access in politics. These aspirations are anchored in the desire to bolster the capacities of women and youth in political spheres. Emphasizing the significance of economic, social, and political capacities, this study underscores the need for women to possess financial resources, robust social networks, and political acumen to navigate and thrive in the political landscape.

Abstract

This study seeks to examine the impact of Infrastructure, ICT, and Economic Stability on the economic growth rate in Central Java. The data for this research is procured from authoritative sources, namely the Statistics Indonesia (Indonesian: Badan Pusat Statistik, BPS, lit. 'Central Agency on Statistics') and the National Research and Innovation Agency (Indonesian: Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional, BRIN). To analyze the data, a multiple linear regression method was employed, utilizing cross-sectional data. The findings reveal that, when considered collectively, all the variables significantly influence Central Java's economic growth. On an individual level, infrastructure, ICT, and economic stability each demonstrate a marked positive correlation with economic growth. Drawing from these insights, the study underscores the imperative for devising comprehensive macro-socioeconomic policies. Such strategic interventions are crucial to ensure that Central Java's economic growth remains both robust and sustainable over time.

Abstract

This study aimed to assess the impact of COVID-19 on public participation in the mayoral election, focusing on the Barombong sub-district of Makassar City. Employing a quantitative approach and field research methodology, data was collected by distributing 98 questionnaires to residents of Barombong sub-district, Tamalate sub-district, who participated in the 2020 Makassar City Mayoral Election. The data analysis methods included descriptive analysis, classical assumption tests, simple linear regression analysis, and hypothesis testing using SPSS 21. The findings revealed that COVID-19 (X) had a positive influence on Community Participation (Y) in the Makassar Mayoral Election. Consequently, the primary hypothesis of this study was confirmed, indicating that COVID-19 did influence community participation in the election. While the general perception of COVID-19 is concerning, this research suggests that its impact on voter turnout was minimal, with only a 0.3 percent increase in community participation in the mayoral election.
