Abstract

This study aims to determine the success of increasing the application of the team games tournament (TGT) learning model to mathematics learning outcomes in grade VIII students of YKK Ebenhaezer Mimika Papua Junior High School. This research included the type of Classroom Action Research with the research subjects of grade VIII A students at SMP YPK Ebenhaezer Mimika Papua totaling 29 students. The research design used the Kemmis and Mc. Taggart model. The results showed that mathematics learning outcomes in grade VIII A students at SMP YPK Ebenhaezer could be improved using the team games tournament (TGT) learning model. After the first cycle of actions, students who met the KKM 18 students 62 percent and did not meet the KKM 11 students 38 percent. After the second cycle of action, 22 students met the KKM 76 percent and did not meet the KKM 7 students 24 percent. The results of teacher activity in cycle I were 66 percent and in cycle II there was an increase to 77 percent. As for the results of student activity in cycle I, which was 70 percent and in cycle II there was an increase to 76 percent.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is an effect of using audio visual media on student interest in the subject matter of the Pythagorean Theorem in Class VIII of Timika Adventist Junior High School and how the effect is. The population in this study were all students of class VIII SMP Advent Timika with a total of 124 students. The results of the t-test statistic test using the Independent Sample Test technique to test the hypothesis "Is there any effect of using audio visual media on student interest in the subject matter of the Pythagorean Theorem for Class VIII of Timika Adventist Middle School." The test results show that the tcount value of audio-visual media is 2.327 and the tcount value of student learning interest is 3.327, with a Sig value of 0.000. This shows that the tcount value is greater than the ttable value of 1.671 while the Sig value is smaller than 0.05. Thus Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected, meaning there is a significant influence of the use of audio visual learning media on students' interest in learning the main material of the pythagorean theorem class VIII Timika Adventist Middle School.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to produce a learning trajectory on the material of relations and functions in class VIII. This type of research is Design Research proposed by Gravemeijer & Cobb, carried out through 3 stages, namely the research preparation stage, research in the classroom, and retrospective analysis. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 4 Mori Utara with the research subjects totaling 12 students and consisting of three meetings, namely 1) the first meeting: Relation Concept, Relationship Presentation and Domain Concept, Codomain and Range, 2) second meeting: Function Concept, Function Characteristics and Correspondence One-on-one and 3) third meeting: Notation and Function Value. The research instruments used are in the form of learning trajectory hypotheses and data collected through observations, sound recordings, and Student Activity Sheets. The results showed that the learning trajectory in the Relation and Function material with a RME approach designed to improve mathematical problem-solving ability can be applied in the learning process. The resulting learning path is in the form of a flow of activities and activities carried out by students in class in order to achieve the learning goals that have been previously set. Meanwhile, this study was conducted only to see the application of the hypothesis of the learning trajectory of the Relation and Function material in the RME approach.

Abstract

The rise of the digital age and STEM-based occupations (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) has increased the significance of mathematics skills in the workplace and in the classroom. At the same time, the usage of social media such as Instagram, as well as Instagram's effects and filters, has become widespread among adolescents, particularly students. The purpose of this study is to develop an Instagram filter-based learning media for junior high school students. The material used in the development of the Instagram filter is the material on Relations and Functions that is difficult to understand by students based on a student needs questionnaire. This study developed an Instagram-based learning media by administering validation and feasibility tests to material experts, media experts, and student response questionnaires in the form of a small-scale trial. The designed Instagram filter-based learning media received an average score of 83.22 percent with a very good interpretation based on the validation and feasibility tests.

Abstract

Video media has considerable potential if used as a learning medium that allows students to directly observe the real form of objects. This study aims to determine the improvement of mathematics learning outcomes through a contextual approach to the volume material of building space using a video compact disc. The type of research used is classroom action research and consists of four stages, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection and the number of subjects amounted to 30 people. The instruments used are tests and observation sheets. Tests are used to determine student learning outcomes and observation is used to determine student activities in the learning process. Data analysis techniques are used descriptively. The results of data analysis obtained that the application of contextual approaches can improve student learning outcomes. This result is intended by increasing test results in cycle I, and cycle II which is carried out with a contextual approach. If in cycle I the learning process has not taken place optimally because students are still not serious in learning and class management is still lacking by the teacher, in cycle II the learning process that takes place is in accordance with the learning steps and students can discuss with their friends in class
