Abstract

This study aims to improve the activity and results of student learning in the subject of Anatomy Plant through a comparative study  model based lesson study. The method used is classroom action research with 4 cycles. Samples used  in this study is the third semester students of regular education courses Biology FKIP Veteran Bangun Nusantara University Sukoharjo force 2012/2013 as many as 24 people. The study began in November 2013 and April 2014. The learning activities were observed in the form of discussion and presentation activities, while learning outcomes measured were the post-test results after completion of the learning process of each cycle. Data analysis techniques with comparative descriptive, comparing the results of learning and learning activity cycle with the cycle I to IV. From the  results of this study concluded that the average post-test or study results from Cycle I to IV increased starting 3.47, 3.72, 3.73 and 3.85, though in terms of learning activities is still not satisfactory because it only categorized quite active for the first cycle to the active cycle III and cycle IV. Abstract

The purposes of this study are 1) to determine difference of conceptual understanding of SMA 2 Pontianak students before and after being taught through 5E learning cycle model on colloid subject matter, and 2) to describe conceptual understanding of SMAN 2 Pontianak Students before and after being taught through 5E learning cycle model on colloid material. This study was conducted in form of pre experimental design. Independent variables were learning before and after being taught through 5E learning cycle model. Dependent variable was students conceptual understanding. To collect data, assessment technique was applied and achievement test was used to get data. Data were analyzed by means of inferential and descriptive statistic. Result of statistic showed P-value = 0,000 < α = 0.05 which means that there was a difference of students conceptual understanding before and after being taught through 5E learning cycle model on colloid subject matter. Improvement of students conceptual understanding was 0,31 which means on average level. Key words: conceptual understanding, 5E learning cycle model.

Abstract

Authentic assessment is assessment instrument that assess the learning process and learning outcomes of students. Authentic assessment instrument which developed in this research is project assessment instrument with storyboard product. This study aims to develop project assessment instruments which are valid, reliable and effective to be used for all of the students. The research method used is the modified 4-D model. This research implemented in grade class XI of SMA N 10 Semarang and subjects of research is students in class XI with IPA concentration. The results of research showed that project assessment instruments valid, reliable, and proper to used for assessing learning process and learning outcomes. Project assessment instrument effective used in learning, because the vmean of project assessment and learning outcomes all of students gained a value with the minimum criteria of good, also there is an ascendant of N-gain with high category for students visual, student auditory, and student kinesthetic. Thus it can be concluded that the developed assessment instruments is valid, reliable, and effective. Keywords: Project Assessment; Storyboard; Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetik Approach

Abstract

This research aims to describe MIPA teachers’ ability to design knowledge assessment through the analysis of achievement aspects of knowledge assessment. This research used a descriptive method with SMP MIPA teachers in Pontianak City who have taught for more than 5 years and have an undergraduate degree as the population. The samples in this research, selected using a purposive sampling technique, consisted of 12 teachers who submitted MIPA test items. The research instrument used the data of the test item document designed by the teachers in the form of a multiple-choice test. The data were analyzed descriptively which included data reduction, systematic data display, and conclusion. The results showed that of the 12 test instruments made by with 380 questions in total, the teachers’ ability to design knowledge assessment (Multiple Choice Questions) obtained 17.37% of knowledge aspect, 67.90% of understanding aspect, 8.68% of implementation aspect, and 6.05% of analysis aspect. There were no questions made related to evaluation and creation aspects. Keywords: teachers ability, designing knowledge assessment.

Abstract

Research about relationship of body length and ratio papilla with sex in goby fish (S. macrostetholepis Blkr.) has been done at Animal Structure and Developmental Laboratory, Biology Department, Faculty of Matematics and Natural Sciences, Andalas University, Padang, which purposed to analyse the relationship of body length and ratio papilla with sex of goby fish (S. macrostetholepis Blkr.). The samples were taken at wild stream area at Batang Kuranji river, Padang City. This reseach used descriptive method and data were analized by qualitatively and quantitatively. The results of investigation showed that in several goby fish (S. macrostetholepis Blkr.) with different sex  had the same of  body length and the same of ratio papilla. So, there was not relationship between of body length and ratio papilla with sex. Keyword: Papilla, S. macrostetholepis Blkr.

Abstract

This research is motivated tendency in the field of biology shows that learning outcomes in protists material has not achieved the expected results. This is because teachers are more active than the students, so that the learning-oriented teacher (teacher-oriented) whereas passive during the learning of their students as well as the presentation of learning materials in the classroom is still conventional. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK). Data taken using test instruments, observation sheet and test evaluation of learning outcomes is a means of collecting qualitative data processed. The results showed that by application of learning strategy discovery learning using protists themed card game can improve motivation and results of students of class X MIA1 SMA 4 PontianakKeywords : Motivation, learning outcomes, card game, Discovery Learning
