Abstract

Purpose – The aim of this research is to find out the financing mechanism or the waqf assets funding done by nazhir and to find the ideal mechanism for the development of waqf assets.Method – This is a qualitative research with a case study approach. The research object was selected using purposive sampling, namely nazhir waqf in Central Java which manages productive waqf including: Sultan Agung Waqf Foundation (YBWSA), Semarang Grand Mosque Management Agency (BPMAS), and Pekalongan City Muslimin Foundation (YMKP).Result – This study found that the Sultan Agung Waqf Foundation (YBWSA) implements a mechanism for waqf financing in the form of public funding, government assistance, murabahah, and ijarah. BPMAS implements a waqf financing mechanism in the form of donations alms, government assistance, ijarah, and cash waqf. Meanwhile, YMKP provides financing for the development of its waqf assets in the form of government assistance and qardul hasan. Implication – This study can be used by government, policy maker, business party, or scholar to create an optimal and ideal mechanism in developing waqf assets.Originality – In the past, studies of waqf asset management were performed in the context of middle east, mostly Kuwait. This study provides waqf asset management in context of South East region.

Abstract

Purpose – This study examines the effect of organizational resilience variables on the firm’s survival rate and the moderating role of environmental turbulence variables in the relations of organizational resilience and firm survival.Method – This study uses simple regression to test research hypotheses. Primary data in the form of questionnaires are obtained from Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Java.Result – The analysis shows that organizational resilience variables can improve the firm’s survival. However, this study did not find the moderating role of environmental turbulence in influencing the relationship between organizational resilience variables and firm survival.Implication – This study can help scholars and practitioners to understand more of the mechanism of organizational resilience and its impact on survival on smaller firms.Originality – This study offer the empirical study of firm survival on small-medium enterprise setting in Indonesia.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to investigate to what extent the public economy empowerment strategies are applied by KUB Batik Tulis Rifaiyah and what are the implications of the public economy empowerment used by KUB Batik Tulis Rifaiyah.Method – This research used the descriptive qualitative method. The study subject is community leaders, batik artisans, caretakers/communities, and related parties. The object of his research is KUB Batik Tulis Rifaiyah Kalipucang Wetan Batang. The data were analysed by using the technique of analysis and interactive model of analysis comprising data gathering, data grouping, and data display.Result – The results of this study indicate that empowerment in Kalipucang Wetan Batang Village has not been fully successful because of a lack of participation from the community. Implication – This research was made as a material for consideration and evaluation so that community empowerment in Kalipucang Wetan Village is getting better.Originality – The originality of this research lies in the object under study, analysis, and research location.

Abstract

Purpose – The purpose of this research is to understand the role of Public Relations Management in activities Hospital Social Responsibility (HSR) to improve image of Sunan Kudus Islamic Hospital. This study is also designed to understand the ability of Hospital Social Responsibility (HSR) in bringing benefits to the hospital Islam Sunan Kudus.Method – Primary data were obtained directly from observations and interviews with the Sunan Kudus Islamic Hospital, in this case the Public Relations Management and the community involved in HSR activities. The data analysis technique used several analyzes, namely descriptive, sociological, hostoris, and data validity.Result – The role of Public Relations in HSR activities can improve image of the Sunan Kudus Islamic Hospital, this is proven with the HSR activities carried out by RSI Sunan Kudus followed by all levels of society in the city Kudus so that through the HSR activity the name RSI Sunan Kudus is known to the wider community and ultimately society who is in the Kudus city to entrust his health to Sunan Kudus Islamic Hospital.Implication – This study can motivate other hospitals to implement HSR (Hospital Social Responsibility), so that a mutual symbiotic relationship can be created between the hospital and the community.Originality – In other studies only discussing CSR in general, there are no findings regarding HSR, and there is no CSR or HSR aspect in it Islamic perspective, apart from that there are no other benefits seen due to the existence of CSR in the hospital

Abstract

Purpose -  Hajj financial use The Hajj is an obligation for Muslims who can carry out. Over time, the number of people who perform Hajj is increasing, but the quota is minimal. It raises new problems; one of them is the problem of the financial management of Hajj. The financial of Hajj accumulates and inflation occurs every year. One of the solutions to the financial problem in Hajj is to invest in a productive field. The purpose of this paper is to find out the Islamic scholars’ consideration of the justification of using Hajj fund and investing it in productive fields.Method - This research is conducted through a qualitative descriptive approach.Result - All Islamic organizations in Indonesia, especially MUI (Majelis Ulama Indonesia/ Indonesian Ulama Council), justify the Hajj financial use.Implication  -  The result can be used by society as information and consideration regarding Hajj and the mechanism of financial management in religious prayers administered by the government.Originality  - This research study the recent existence of investment purposes in Hajj fund management.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aimed to analyse the utilization of Zakat at BAZNAS Kendal Regency.Method – This study used a qualitative approach with interview as the data collection strategy.  Result – The utilization of productive Zakat by BAZNAS of Kendal regency was implemented well.Implication – This study can assist the government in making a policy and regulation related to zakat managementOriginality – This was the first study examining zakat management in Kendal Regency.

Abstract

Purpose – The presence of Grab has invited many discussions. The purpose of this study is to know the role of Grab on changes in social life in Bengkulu city both in terms of Grab drivers, consumers, and other conventional transportation.Method – This study uses a qualitative approach with an in-depth interview method. The total respondents in this study are 38 people consisting of 5 people from Grab drivers, 30 people from consumers, and five people from conventional transportation.Result – This study found that there were changes in Grab drivers' income, but there were no social changes in Grab drivers. On the other hand, there were social changes in Grab consumers and conventional drivers. Implication – This study can be used by public, government, and private sector to understand better consumer behaviour in online transportation field.Originality – As the growth of online transportation in Indonesia is increasing, this study offers early understanding upon the phenomena.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to determine the effect of work motivation on performance with job satisfaction as an intervening variable.Method – The population in this study were all employees at the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business UIN Walisongo Semarang with a total sample of 58 respondents. The analysis in this study uses path analysis technique.Result – The results showed that work motivation had a significant effect on job satisfaction, work motivation had a significant effect on performance and job satisfaction variables had a significant effect on performance. The results of the path analysis conducted showed that work motivation had a direct effect on employee performance, while work motivation had an indirect effect on performance through intervening work.Implication – This study assists the management of higher education to create working design for a better performance.Originality – This study enriches the empirical study of job performance in higher education context in Indonesia.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to determine the effect of the zakat (almsgiving) literacy level and several other factors on the decision of muzakki to pay zakat at the registered zakat institutions in Situbondo Regency.Method – This study uses a quantitative approach with logistic regression analysis. Result – The zakat literacy level, education, and trust have a positive and significant effect on the decision of muzakki to pay zakat at registered zakat institutions. The income variable in this study has no significant effect on the decision of muzakki to pay zakat at the registered zakat institutions in Situbondo Regency.Implication – This study gives insight about the role of zakat literacy in increasing zakat payment. This study could assist government to increase zakat payment.Originality – The use of the Simple Weighted Index (SAWI) method to find the value of the Zakat Literacy Index.

Abstract

Purpose – The purpose of this study is to analyze differences in financial performance before and after the tax amnesty was applied until the third period.Method – This research uses a comparative method with a quantitative approach. The data collection technique used the documentation method. The research data were in the form of annual reports and financial reports of issuers of the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The results showed the financial performance before and after the tax amnesty up to the third period in the property and real estate sub-sector companies.Result – The result shows a significant difference between before and after the tax amnesty until the third period. However, there is no significant difference between Debt to Equity Ratio and Return on Equity before and after the tax amnesty until the third period. The analysis results up to the third period regarding company value shows that there are differences in company value before and after the tax amnesty up to the third period.Implication – The study offers alternative perspective about tax amnesty. Most of the time companies are reluctant to engage with tax payment.By applying tax amnesty, both ruling government and companies are both be benefited. Originality – This study is among few studies about the impact of tax amnesty on financial performance in Indonesia.
