Abstract

Bali which is famous abroad because of its unique and diverse culture cannot be separated from the role of the Balinese language. Balinese is an inseparable cultural root of Bali. Balinese culture includes livelihood systems, equipment systems, social systems, scientific systems, religious systems, art systems, and language systems. Based on the background above, two formulations of problems can be identified, namely: how are the elements of Balinese culture as a supporter of tourism in Bali? and how the relationship of Balinese culture in the effort to develop cultural tourism?Bali's socio-cultural capital that is so unique when compared to other regions in Indonesia, Bali has great potential in the effort to develop cultural tourism which is based on Balinese culture. It can be concluded that Balinese culture in the context of developing cultural tourism is as follows: relating to elements of Balinese culture (religious systems, science, livelihoods, equipment, arts, social organizations, and Balinese language) and some cultural tourism-based development Bali, namely culinary tourism, beach tourism, and mountain nature tourism. In connection with the main socio-cultural capital owned by Bali, the government should; both the central and regional governments, always see the potential of Bali as a tourism development area that is based on Balinese culture. Bali cannot be compared to other regions in Indonesia which have vast demographic areas, which makes it possible to build an economy based on regional breadth. Bali with all its cultural uniqueness, should be built based on its socio-cultural potential, which has been proven by the unique socio-cultural potential, can make Bali as one of the largest tourist destinations in the world. Keywords: Cultural Elements, Socio-Cultural Capital, and Tourism Development

Abstract

Narmada Park is one of the spiritual tourism attractions located in Lembuak Village, Narmada District, West Lombok Regency. Narmada Park is known as the Water Park for Youth. A uniqueness of Narmada Park is that the concept of this park is characterized by exotic natural nuances and around the park there are Kelasa Temple, pools, historic buildings (royal palace) and have historical legends. In its management, local community participation is needed so that in the future it can provide economic, socio-cultural and environmental benefits. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The theory used in this research is Tosun's Typology of Participation (2006). Data collection is done through observation, interviews, and literature studies. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling technique. Data analysis techniques used are qualitative descriptive analysis such as, data reduction, data collection, and verification. The results showed that community participation in the management of Narmada Park was still in the induced participation phase. The characteristic of encouraged participation is that it is top down which means that local people will provide movement if there is direction from the government. Creativity in the form of an idea has been owned by several local communities but has not dared to take steps to overcome problems in the management of Narmada Park. Therefore, community empowerment is needed in increasing participation so that the management of Narmada Park can provide direct benefits to local communities in the region. Keywords: participation, community, management

Abstract

Abstract

The life of Hindus people in Bali is inseparable from the teachings of Tri Kerangka Dasar (three basic framework of Hinduism) which consists of Tattwa, Susila and Upacara. The practice is more in the form of ceremonies (yajna) which are often done in daily life - while Tattwa and Susila are performed with the ceremony. Performing a Yajna ceremony is a very important activity because Yajna carries out one of the supports for the earth. The quality of the yajna is determined by the ability of the worshipers in accordance with the conditions of the existing Desa Kala Patra (place, time and condition) in each village, as long as it does not against the tattwa. In practice there are five yajnas (Panca Yajna) that must be carried out by Hindus people, namely Yajna for God,  Yajna for Human, Yajna for Rsi, Yajna for Pitra and Yajna for Bhuta. Abstract

Cultural commodification that occurs in the components of Balinese culture is one of the attractions of young writers of modern Balinese Literature. The phenomenon of the commodification of culture then becomes one of the choices of idea for their work and becomes their response as part of the social community. The massive commodification of Balinese culture produces tension and  negotiation among the individuals within the Balinese community. Through modern Balinese literary authors, socio-cultural reflections in the community as the effect of  cultural commodification can be read carefully.
