AbstractDictionary is not enough to give a meaning of a particular word or sentence. Therefore, one needs meaning in context to formulate the meaning in order to make sure the intended meaning, particularly the meaning of Holy Quran. It is no doubt that the similar meaning (synonym) has an effect on expansion. It gives a particular meaning on a certain sentence. As a result, meaning is sometimes restricted and can not be intercpreted freely. It is safe to say that semantically, the meaning is restricted on a certain meaning. Pragmatically, howevers, meaning needs a context. So that meaning and context is related each other. Context, then is needed in interpreting the use of a sentence and expression.Keyword: المعجم, الدلالة, والسياق, والتكنولوجيا

PROSES PEMBELAJARAN BIOLOGI PADA MATERI SISTEM PEREDARAN DARAH MANUSIA DI KELAS VIII SMP NEGERI 3 RAMBATAN NAJMIATUL FAJAR

Leaning process can influence students’ achievement. The lack of students’ understanding on the particular materials could decrease students’ achievement. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the leaning process of biology in human circulator system at the eight grade of Junior High School (SMP) 3 Rambatan covering the lesson plan, implementation of learning proces, evaluation, and students’ learning outcome. This researh was descriptive using qualitative approach. It was conducted at SMP 3 Rambatan. Data were collected using IPKG on lesson, interview, document, and field notes. The reseach shows as follows: (1) the format of lesson plan used by the teachers has fulfilled the IPKG and could be categorized into good; (2) the learning process had not yet referred to the IPKG but could be classified as good and enough category; (3) the evaluation of learning process had not referred to IPKG; (4) students’ learning activities were still low; and (5) students’ learning outcome were unsatisfactory.Kata Kunci: proses pembelajaran biologi, sistem peredaran darah manusia, aktivitas siswa, hasil belajar.

USING OF READING, ENCODING, ANNOTATING, AND PONDERING (REAP) TECHNIQUE TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION (A Classroom Action Research at Eighth Grade Students in MTSN 1 Kota Bengkulu in Academic years 2016) Fera Zasrianita

AbstractThe researcher found the problem at MTSN 1 in the city of Bengkulu at grade VIII I that students got difficulty in comprehending reading texts, and in understanding meanings of words in paragraphs, and teachers techniques made the students bored. Therefore, the purpose of the research is to improve students’ reading comprehension through REAP techniques. The subject of the research is the students of grade VIII I consisting of 27 students, 14 female students and 13 male students. The instruments of the research are reading tets, observation sheetteacher and the students, interview guide and that for documentary study. The results of the research show that the REAP teachniques are effective in improving the students’ reading comprehension. The students got involved directly and were able to cooperate with their peers during the teaching-learning process. The research was conducted in two cycles an the test was administered at the end of each cycle. From the average mean scores, it could be seen that there was improvement of the the students’ reading ability. In cycle I, the mean score was 70.5 and in cycle 2, it was 78.7,and at the Post assessment, it was 82.2. It means that the students’ mean scores has reached the research target. Thus, it can be concluded that REAPtechniques can improve the students’ readng comprehension. BRINGING POP-CULTURE INTO CLASSROOM: SPEAKING 3’S GOT TALENT ACTIVITY TO ENHANCE SPEAKING SKILL OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS Muhamad Hasbi

AbstractFollowing the widespread and growing popularity of English communication across the globe, the implementation of and the research on innovation in language teaching is mushrooming, especially in the teaching of English speaking. This study aims at measuring how far pop-culture themed classroom activity named Speaking 3’s Got Talent gives impacts for students speaking skill improvement at IAIN Salatiga, through an observation of a class in the English Department with a number of students of 30 undertaking Speaking 3 course in the odd-semester of the academic year of 2016/2017. Using a quantitative approach, this research utilizes questionnaire and direct observation for collecting data, and makes use of three methods of data analysis namely questionnaire scale-analysis, CEFR (The Common European Framework) speaking grid, and teacher’s made rubric for speaking for assessment which pinpoint three key measured variables namely students’ attitude toward the activity, teacher’s assessment toward students’ performance referring to both CEFR and teacher’s made rubric. This research finds that students had positive (excellent and very good) attitude towards the time, English, avatar, expertise and assessment variables of the activity and viewed that it is effective in downgrading their degree of stage fright; secondly, students obtain excellent and very good assessment in both the CEFR and teacher’s made rubric model. The three methods of measurements implied its affectivity in enhancing university students’ speaking skill and both student and teacher assessment recommend this activity to be applied in English classrooms.Keywords: speaking skill, pop-cultural activity, attitude, stage fright, assessment

PENGEMBANGAN MODEL MATERI AJAR MATA KULIAH BAHASA INGGRIS II BERBASIS KEBUTUHAN MAHASISWA PROGRAM STUDI AKUNTANSI SYARIAH STAIN BATUSANGKAR HENDRA EKA PUTRA

This research is derived from the problem in which there was no available reading material of “Bahasa Inggris II” for accounting students, especially Economic Department of Syariah Faculty of State College for Islamic Studies (STAIN) Batusangkar. Relizing that problem, the researchers designed a model of reading material to teach those students as a solution in order to solve their problem in grasping a specific idea that could be found at any English reading materials, especially relating with accounting terms. In validating the model, they asked some comments from experts. Based on the result of the validation, it could be concluded that the model had fulfilled the criteria as a valid one: content validity and construct validity.

Decreasing attitude and/or moral values among students forced Indonesian government to be responsible to solve this problem through character building. Considering ‘Undang-Undang RI No.17 Tahun 2005’, this is a must for every school to over-come all problems that contribute to the decreasing attitute/ moral values of the students. Inhence, this research was done to know how was the implementation character education at schools. The design of the research was qualitative one. The researcher came to the class to observe the teaching and learning proseses (pre, whilst, and post activities) in order to get complete data. After analyzing the lesson plan and observation result of the teaching and learning proseses in the classroom, it could be known that there was the information of character building in the lesson plan (the learning objective, teaching steps and measurment). Then, the moral values were integrated in teaching materials by using cooperative learning, active learning, contexttual and expository strategy. In measuring the students’ attitute/ behaviour, the teacher faced difficulties in interpreting and scoring because there was no clear information of scoring students’ character/ attitute.

MODEL PENGEMBANGAN SOAL READING TOEFL BERBASIS TEKS-TEKS KEISLAMAN IRWAN IRWAN

Problem of this research is the unfamiliarity of the topics in TOEFL test. Many of the topics are talking about American and Europe. They are about American science, American history, American economic system, American culture and European culture. The topics above are not familiar to the students of State Islamic College because they seldom study about the topic. To answer the TOEFL tes it will be better for us to have background knowledge about the topics of the reading. If we are familiar with the topic, it will help us to be easy in answering and understanding about the text. This research used Research & Development (R&D) approach. The sample of the try out test for developing these questions are the sixth semester English students of STAIN Batusangkar. The data were analyzed by using Kappa model to differenciate the items difficulties, items differenciation, trapping model, validity and reliability. The product of this research then revised for three times. Then, the product is also commented and analyzed by the experts. After analyzing the revision of the product, the result finally getting ready to be used for a test.
