This research is used qualitative descriptive methods and used a landscape theory approach to find point of view in this film. Based on the scene and from a theoretical point of view, the evidence in each film scene has an important role in supporting an argument to be conveyed the socio-economic gap that occurs between immigrants in New York. With the help of setting, character, and storyline in this film, is easily conclude that financial differences will always happen everywhere. The example is between the two in the film. To observing the habits and lifestyle contained in the storyline can be done by utilizing research related to the colors used in a scene to evoke the same mood. Abstract

This paper aims to explore the existential crisis through conflicts in Alejandro González Iñárritu's film, Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (2014). The film won numerous awards including the prestigious Academy Awards in 2015. Iñárritu is dubbed as the most successful Mexican director with his other notable films such as Amores Perros (2000), 21 Grams (2003), Babel (2006), and The Revenant (2015). This paper borrows Sartre's existentialist theory to reveal the conflicts that the protagonist, Riggan Thomson, experiences. The discussion on the film cinematography is also done to show how the film visually depicts and emphasizes the existential crisis through the conflicts. The findings reveal that the main cause of Thomson's conflicts is his ambition to have a meaningful life and define his existence. All his conflicts, both internal and social, show that Thomson first exists as a "Birdman" that does not reflect who he is as a human being. Thus, the conflicts become a part of his journey to find his essence and to free himself from the shadow of the Birdman.

Abstract

In the world of design, themes and concepts become fundamental. Themes and concepts cover the whole idea of a work, as well as in the field of digital imaging. Ideas can be taken from nearby environments such as natural beauty of wood texture. The idea used in the creation of digital imaging is wood texture. The process is the pre-production and production stage. Methods consisting of idea stages, data collection, stage of embodiment, and finalization. At the idea stage, it is attempted to visualize and represent the wood texture through digital imaging techniques. This idea was raised based on believes that wood texture has the aesthetic textures to be applied to digital imaging illustration. Data collection is done through observation. While at the stage of embodiment the process carried out is to make editing image through Adobe Photoshop software. Finalization done with export the illustration in JPG format. The result of this creation is an illustrative work resulting from the digital imaging process entitled Dream Land. It is the process of uniting and editing multiple images into one relevant entity.

Abstract

Graphic design as a field that is closely related to the medium of visual communication is built through elements and principles. Elements become the visual communication material used, while the principle is a system that binds the elements so that they can communicate effectively. One visual communication medium designed with elements and principles in mind is posters. Over the years posters have been used as a good visual communication medium due to their informative nature. Posters contain information that can be digested by the audience briefly and with minimal effort. Likewise, posters are used as a communication medium by WWF (Worldwild Life Fund). On its website WWF launched a poster series to introduce a variety of animal species, one of which is Orangutan Poster. This research was conducted to review the implementation of graphic design elements and principles in Orangutan posters. The method used is qualitative descriptive. Data analysis is done through literature review sources. The purpose of this research is to aims Orangutan poster using analytical design review through four stages which is stage description, the analysis stage, the stage of interpretation, and evaluation phase. The results of this study can be a supporting literacy for the application of design elements and principles in poster media. Also this research is expected to be a bridge for the audience in interpreting the poster works in more detail.

Abstract

As the fourth leading country with the largest population, the demand for needs in Indonesia has increased significantly, especially in primary needs such as food and household materials. With the massive amount of waste and lack of awareness, the waste we produce is thrown away to the landfill, without knowing the effects it might cause. In this situation, there are many people throwing garbage in the wrong place. The awareness amongst youth in Indonesia in regard to excessive waste and composting as a solution to act on it is, still low. In the effort of collecting data, literature studies from different sources are used, this research also conducts in-depth interviews with experts in the field. A creative solution of creating a digital platform in the form of a website that called Feed the Soil is made to help raise the awareness to solve the problem. With an attractive visual and interactive activity, It would be easier for the targeted audience to be able to increase their interest and boost their knowledge. As a result, the awareness is raised, and information can be easily understood and received in a fun and unordinary way. Moreover, further research is still needed to provide more depth to the platform and implementation.
