Focus and Scope FOCUS Jurnal Pendidikan Islam Indonesia (JPII) is a peer-reviewed journal providing a forum for educators, education leaders, scholars, students, and policymakers to address the current topics in education and Indonesian Islamic education from a global perspective; especially about pesantren. The journal focuses on the issues of Islamic Education in Southeast Asia. JPII publishes original academic articles dealing with relevance in educational theory, methodology, and practice. Papers should focus on studies and systematic analysis that employ qualitative, quantitative, mixed-methods, research and development (RnD), and theoretical methodologies from an international scope. Both pedagogical and andragogical perspectives in teaching and learning are welcome. Abstract

The objectives of this research are implementation of the Tahfidzul Qur'an Program, characteristics of students who have taken tahfidzul qur'an program and effectiveness of tahfidzul qur'an program in developing qur'ani character. The conclusion of this research is the students’ qur'ani character will be easily created by memorizing the Qur'an because students must have a good akhlak to maintain their memorization of the Qur’an. Tahfidzul qur'an program is an effective action in developing the Qur'ani character of the students at SMP Daarul Qur’an. It starts with making a habit of memorizing the Qur'an to create a character of the Qur'an in them. This research used qualitative perspective to examine the context of research. Data collection in this research carried out by observations, documentation, and interviews.

Abstract

Islah mubasyir is a method of punishment carried out by Pondok Pesantren Al-Basyariyah (Al-Basyariyah Islamic Boarding School) in Bandung Regency. It has applied since the beginning of the establishment of this Islamic boarding school. It was addressed to offender students and the punishment was given directly. It was applied to minimize students’ delinquency in Pondok Pesantren Al-Basyariyah, so the students have awareness in discipline. This method aims to improve students’ awareness of discipline in all matters. The application of islah mubasyir also includesthe influence, inhibiting and supporting factors. The purpose of this study was to obtain the information regarding the application, the influence, inhibiting and supporting factors of islah mubasyir at Pondok Pesantren Al-Basyariyah in Bandung Regency.

Abstract

The figure of a Kiai as the director of Ma'had Aly Sukorejo Situbondo is very crucial in motivating lecturers’ work.This research aims to find and to analyze the role and the strategies of Kiai in enhancing the lecturers’ work motivation. It uses a qualitative approach that emphasizes inductive analysis through reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The role of Kiai's leadership in enhancing lecturers’ work motivation at Ma'had Aly Sukorejo Situbondo is in his capacity as a competitive supervisor in every lecturer’s ability to increase personal awareness so can do work based on main duties and functions (TUPOKSI), by giving an example and spiritual guidance before instructing. The Kiai's strategy as the director of Ma'had Aly are holds a meeting with masyayikh, maintain sustainable control to Ma'had Aly 's regulation, buildsan adjacency with all elements (egalitarian), uses uswatun hasanah approach and Sufistic strategies, discipline in carrying out the duties. The positive impact of the strategies of Kiai in enhancing the lecturers’ work motivation at Ma'had Aly Sukorejo is the lecturers respect him more, dare to express their aspirations, but still maintain politeness.

Abstract

The integrated Islamic curriculum as one of the educational programs has a strategic role in forming, building, fostering and directing students to become good people who have positive character and personality, self-understanding, skilled and teamwork.This research aims to obtain documents related to the management of planning, implementation, evaluation of integrated curriculum at SMPIT Luqmanul Hakim Bandung. The method used in this research is descriptive analytic method with a qualitative approach. The data obtained by using interview, observation and documentation study. The finding of this research are first, planning for integrated Islamic curriculum carried out by compiling the curriculum, formulating for lesson planpreparation by put in the characteristics of an integrated Islamic curriculum. Second, the implementation of an integrated Islamic curriculum refers to planning that has formulated by put in the verses of the Qur’an in the lesson plan. Third, evaluation is carried out in order to know the success of students.

Abstract

Spirituality in leadership is a leadership that leads the worldly dimension to the spiritual dimension. God is a true leader who inspires all deeds, influences and moves the conscience of His servants. Spirituality in leadership is leadership that forms values, attitude, behavior needed for intrinsic motivation to achieve a sense of spiritual survival. Spirituality-based leadership is not only about intelligence and skills in leadership, but also about the values of truth, honesty, integrity, creativity, wisdom, compassion. Spirituality in leadership is the way of a leader to pays attention to how other people can grow, develop and achieve the vision. There are three dimensions of spirituality in leadership they are first, the activities carried out by a manager (leader, head, chairman and others) with other people or groups. Second, the activities have purposes and third, management is carried out in the organization, so that so that becomes organization oriented. Therefore, the spirituality in leadership in the management of learning and education has significant impact on teachers, students, stakeholders, etc.

Abstract

In the era of information technology today, cyberspace comes as the second world for society. The One of negative effects of this is the occurrence of conflict because of hoax. Muslims are reminded to do not be easy to believe in the unbelievable news. This can be seen from an event known as Haditsul Ifki which occurred in the time of the prophet and enshrined in the Qur'an, Surah An-Nur verse 11-20. The method used in this research was a method of descriptive analysis with a library research by collecting data relating to the discussion. The results of this research were to find a way for a Muslim to avoid the negative effects of hoax. The conclusion is a Muslim must has a tawaqquf (refraining from directly accept or reject news), tabayyun (looking for proof or truth), tajannub al-zhann (avoiding prejudice), husnuz zhan (good prejudice) and avoiding hate speech to avoid the negative effects of hoax.

Abstract

The system of education in pesantren becomes necessary, because it makes a set of interrelated, interdependent and strengthen one another to achieve the goals of education in pesantren, those are to form a democratic, competitive, innovative, and good society not only in science and technology (IPTEK), but also in iman and taqwa (IMTAQ), and to be responsible and have a good moral. Pesantren has a strong influence on almost all aspects of rural society life. The development of religious thought and interpretation from outside elite of pesantren did not have a significant impact on the way of life and attitudes of rural society. This fact shows that every effort aimed at society development, especially in rural area, needs to implicate pesantren. As time goes by, pesantren combines religious education and general education, which can produce the religious experts (ilmiah-amaliah-diniah) relevant to the needs and demands of the times. It makes education in pesantren as an alternative and excellent education.

Abstract

The success of education in schools is determined by the managerial abilities of the headmaster. The performance of school management will determine the success of the school in carrying out the programs. In this context, counseling management is important to create students with noble character. Character building is very much influenced by the characteristic of the environment. Therefore, creating a helpful environment with the appropriate counseling management will significantly influence the education quality improvement in moral values both inside and outside of school. Character building is a lifetime process that must be sustained in school, family, and society to internalize the character building.

Abstract

Planning of character education management for students by involving stakeholders, committees, village heads, religious leaders and the local community is contained in the school rules. The implementation of character education management involves all elements of the school to create a useful development for students’ character. The assessment of character education management is in the form of observation for all teachers associated in the process of assessing students’ character by reporting students’ progress. This guidance is through preventive, curative and repressive measures. The assessment of character education management takes the form of observation of all teachers involved in the process of assessing the character of students by taking notes on the development of students.
