Abstract

Introduction. Schizophrenia is the major cause of dissability in the most productive ages. It affects economic and social family condition so that the family ability needs increasing in taking care of patients with schizophrenia at home to decrease family’s burden. The family ability to take care of family member can be trained by family psychoeducation therapy. The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of family psychoeducation therapy for the family ability in taking care patients with schizophrenia. Method. The research design used quasy experiment method with pre post test without control group design by using family psychoeducation therapy intervention. The research was conducted in Aceh government mental hospital with 18 samples. Intervention was implemented through five sessions of family psychoeducation to indentify the difference the family ability in taking care of patients with schizofrenia before and after the intervention. Result. The result of statistics test which used Wilcoxon’s matched pairs test showed there is no differences significant ability between pre and post intervention (p>0,05) although there is increase the number of respondents which have better psychomotor and cognitive ability after the intervention. Discussion. Assessment psychomotor ability would be better if it is supported by the observation process psychomotor training in directly care by providing the knowledge and practice of structured and consistent with family psychoeducation module. Keywords: schizophrenia, psychomotor, cognitive, psychoeducation

Abstract

Introduction. The umbilical cord is a life line for the fetus during pregnancy, because through the umbilical cord is all the need for a fulfilled life. After the baby is born the umbilical cord is not needed, so it must be cut and clamped with the umbilical cord clamping. The rest of the umbilical cord is still attached to the umbilical stump or the baby’s stomach requires good care to avoid infection. The purpose of this study was to obtain the description about effectiveness umbilical cord care booklet provision on knowledge and attitude of postpartum mothers on caring for the umbilical cord in Ajibarang Hospital, Banyumas regency, Central Java Province. Methods. This study used a quasi-experimental with treatment of delivery ISBN 978-979-448-992-5 books about umbilical cord care directly to the subject of the study (samples). Results. The results of this study indicated that knowledge of postpartum mothers before and after delivery of booklet umbilical cord care showed no significant differences on how to care for the umbilical cord (p>0.05). While the attitude of post partum mothers before and after delivery of booklet umbilical cord care showed significant differences, respectively before the delivery of booklet p = 0.029 and after the delivery of booklet p = 0.025. The effect of umbilical cord care booklet to the maternal attitudes about umbilical cord care is having the effect of moderate (r = 0.29). Discussion. The booklet umbilical cord care influential moderate (moderate effect) on postpartum maternal attitudes about how to care for the umbilical cord. Keywords: Postpartum Mothers, Knowledge, Attitude, Umbilical Cord Care Booklet.

Abstract

Introduction. Problem Based Learning is new learning method that can be positive or negative effected students to accept this method. STIKES Rajawali used this education system for nursing collages. The purpose of this study was to know relationship between stress level and exam result at gastrointestinal lesson with PBL in School of Nursing. Methods. This study used Cross sectional design. The numbers of sample of this study were 77 collages. Collecting data used Student Stress and Coping Intervention (SSCI) questioner. Also use check list question to measure learning outcome at Gatrointestinal lesson with Problem Based Learning’s system education. Univariable analyze used frequent distribution and bivarible for identified relation between variables used annova test. Result. Annova test’s result showed that there was significant difference between learning outcome and stress level with p point = 0,001 at midle stress’ level. Discussion. It is can become reference in PBL method with competence based curricula. Abstract

Introduction. Indonesia has increase in cases of HIV/AIDS significantly. HIV/AIDS incidence in children is increase too. Children with HIV infection are vulnerable to physical and psychosocial problems are complex. This raises the issue of the family in caring for children with HIV/AIDS. The purpose of this study was to explore in depth the experiences of family life in the care of children with HIV/AIDS. Methods. The study used a qualitative approach was phenomenological. This research was conducted during the months of July-August 2012 in Cimahi. The study was conducted on families who have children with HIV/AIDS. Method of data collection study using in-depth interviews. Analysis of the data used to describe the lived experience of families in caring for children with HIV/AIDS with Colaizi data analysis. Results. Children with HIV/AIDS had experience a variety of problems related to the infection opportunity, growth and development disability, education, social skills and acceptance in society. Discussion. Nurse can give information about caring children with HIV/AIDS, give the support to family to get VCT program, ARV supervision, motivation enhancement, child health, children need to learn and play, support family to join with PMTCT program to increase quality of life of the children and family. Keywords: Children with HIV/AIDS, Family’s Experience, Quality of Life

Abstract

Introduction. Clinical teaching is the means by which student nurses learn to apply the theory of nursing, facilitating integration of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the clinical setting which becomes the art and science of nursing. Caring is values essential to professional practice and become socialized into the nursing profession. The purpose of this study was to explore nursing students’ experiences of caring for basic nursing skills during clinical practice in Rajawali hospital Bandung. Method. A qualitative research design was used and data were collected by in-depth interview. Six students from third semester who had completion of their fundamental of nursing clinical practice experience. Two instructors as key informants. Result. Analysis of collected information suggested that students do learn about caring in the clinical areas. Information analysis also revealed several common, such as feel fear and anxious, feel disgusted when helping defecation or bathing. Most students get the positive experience such as learning and respect of patients and their families. Most students were afraid to take nursing skills, poor theory-practice integration and feared looking foolish, had difficulty communicating and poor interpersonal relationships with the patients. The professional nurse challenges were to provide the best services and respect to the patients needs. Discussion. The results of the information analysis suggest some implications for nurse educators. Positive learning environments should be developed that enable students to retain clear caring values and to realize the potential of caring practice. Students require time to reflect about their clinical experience in order to integrate the experience with practicing sense of caring professional. Keywords: student nurses, caring, clinical practice

Abstract

Introduction.Rheumatoid arthritis represented an autoimmune disease that attacks the joints causing chronic inflammation. Rheumatoid arthritis experienced by many elderly. One of non-pharmacological ways to overcome this pain was by stimulation of the skin with a technique of slow-stroke back massase. The purpose of this study was to analyse the effect of slow-stroke back massase to pain intensity of Rheumatic arthritis on eldery. Method. The research design in this study was Quasy Experiment with the approach of pre-test and post-test group with control. The sample consisted of 20 respondents selected by purposive sampling technique. And divided into two groups: experimental group (n = 10) and control group (n = 10). Data obtained by interview and observation method of pain intensity for 7 days. Then the processed data statistical test of Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test and Mann Withney test with a standard error of 0.05. Result. The results showed in the control group no change in pain intensity. While the majority of the experimental group (60%), pain intensity change from medium become mild. These results can be seen from statistical tests with the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test resulted P value = 0.014 and Mann Withney post test resulted P value = 0.007, H0 rejected. Discussion. Based on the research results it can be concluded that there was influence of slow-stroke back massase toward the pain intensity of rheumatoid arthritis in elderly. Thus it can be an alternative to reduce the pain of rheumatoid arthritis in the elderly. Keywords: slow-stroke back massase, intensity of pain, rheumatoid arthritis, elderly

Abstract

Introduction. Colostrum contains a large number of protective factors providing passive and active protection to a wide variety of known pathogens. Its production could be stimulated by early skin-to-skin contact between mother and baby. Hence, this study aimed to investigate the effect of early skin-to-skin contact on the onset of colostrum secretion in postpartum mother. Methods. This study was cross sectional. The data were analyzed by Mann–Whitney test. Literate postpartum mothers, underwent pervaginam delivery in >37 weeks of gestational age with clear amniotic fluid, having baby with > 2500 gr of weight, Apgar score 6 – 8, and no congenital defects were included in this study. The onset of colostrum secretion was measured through observation sheet. 26 samples were recruited in this study. Results. The onset of colostrum secretion was faster in mother underwent early skin-to-skin contact (p=0.002). Discussion. Thus, this study suggested that early skin-to-skin contact enhanced the onset of colostrum secretion.  Keywords: Early skin-to-skin contact, Colostrum, Postpartum

Abstract

Introduction. The phenomenon of lactation in nursing mothers breastfed exclusively fulfillment requires comprehensive treatment in the community related to the population at risk in the group of breast feeding mothers in the community. The purpose of this study was to improve the ability of nursing mothers, families, and communities in family friendly activities through the integration of family center model of cross-cultural nursing and nursing to meet the sustainability of exclusive breastfeeding in the group of nursing mothers who were sensitive and sensitive to local culture in Jember. Method. This study used a quasi- experimental design with a nonrandomized control group design with pretest and posttest. The data were analyzed using frequency distributions and the Wilcoxon signed rank test were used to compare the behavior of lactating mothers, family independence, the ability of health workers, and management of exclusive breastfeeding services are culturally sensitive and locally sensitive to the treatment group and the control group. Results. The results showed no significant difference between the behavior of lactating mothers, family independence, and management services exclusive breastfeeding before san after the intervention program (p value 0.000) and no significant difference between the ability of health workers before and after the intervention (p value 0.001). Discussion. Exclusive breast feeding can run continuously if the full support of breastfeeding mothers own motivation, family support, health worker visits, and the clinic. Keywords: Exclusive Breast Feeding, Family Friendly, Mother’s Behavior, Cadre Capability.

Abstract

Introduction. Early marriage is the beginning of the health problems of women, children and the control population. Marriage is too young the age at first marriage under 18 years of age in sub Lekok Pasuruan strongly influenced by cultural factors madura. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of early marriage on the quality of growth and development of children in the District Lekok Pasuruan. Methods. The method used a retrospective cohort study. The study population was women who married young age (<18 years) and children under five. Samples were taken by using random sampling. Data were collected and analyzed using Chi Square test. Result. The results showed that 85% of teens got married early, the child’s growth by weight / height 52% of normal and 77% normal child development. Based on Chi Square test was an early marriage to the child’s growth and development of children and the obtained value of p = 0.000. Discussion. This could be due to the influence of culture so entrenched and public education are low at only elementary school in general.  Keywords: Early marriage, growth, development, child

Abstract

Introduction. Prevalence of children under five with malnutrition is an indicator of Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) that should be reach in a region (Regency/City) in 2015. Prevalence of nutrition base on weight for height (WFH) in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta showed that children under five prevalence with very lean nutrition status was about 2,6 percent and lean about 6,5 percent. Community Therapeutic Care combining three approaches to handling under five malnutrition children including community intervention, home based treatment for under five malnutrition children without complication and stabilitation center for under five malnutrition children with complication. The aim of this research was to find out the changing of malnutrition children under five through home care program in Yogyakarta. Method. This research used quantitative method through home care intervention for children under five with malnutrition and was conducted by nurse in public health center. Design of this research was pretest-posttest control group design. The population of this research was all children under five with malnutrition or not complication. Sample divided into two groups, 35 children for the intervention group and 25 children for control group. Analysis used was Paired t-test and independent t-test. Results. The result showed that before home care intervention, there is no significant difference of two groups. The result after intervention for three month with 7 times of visiting, home care intervention can increase nutritional status of children under five with malnutrition. The value of Independent t-test for control group and intervention group was significant with p<0,05. Discussion. The researcher conclude that Home Care has effect to increase nutrition status of children under five with malnutrition and also Z score value which is weight for height (WFH) was increase. Keywords: Home Care, Nutrition status , Malnutrition.
