Abstract

The development of Hinduism in the archipelago, especially in Bali, originated from the teachings of the Vedas which were then translated into various forms of lontar literature. The lontar work which is a development of the Vedas written in accordance with local culture makes it easier for them to understand religious teachings so that this library is then used as a reference for them to believe in Hinduism. With this understanding, it shows that the development of the Hindu religious teaching system in the archipelago and Bali in particular is a derivative of the Vedic understanding which is rewritten in various lontars containing ideas and ideas according to the culture of the people. This is then the basis for Hinduism that is flexible and naturalistic that can be accepted in the religious system in the archipelago.

Abstract

After the second world war, the increase in the world's population was so rapid that it raised issues of environmental damage, food security, and increased crime cases. This causes some densely populated countries to limit the number of births. The birth of a child leaves a carbon footprint of up to 58.6 tons/year. This is what causes the Childfree movement to emerge as one of the solutions offered by modern humans in overcoming environmental issues. The driving factors include environmental awareness, to a consumptive lifestyle due to capitalist ideology. Hinduism in its teachings views that having children is a obligation for parents because children can be the glue of husband-wife relationships and having children who are suputra is the main Yajna. Intelligent children will be able to solve the problems they face, including environmental issues which became the initial basis for the Child free movement. So not having children is not the only solution to overcome environmental damage. The method used in this article uses a qualitative method and uses a phenomenological approach which is described descriptively. The data in this article was obtained through literature studies, both from articles published in journals, Hindu religious sacred texts combined with analysis of data obtained and sourced from the internet in the form of documents, news to videos that are shown on the YouTube platform.

Abstract

The implementation of the piodalan ceremony at the temple is a symbol of maintaining the religiosity of Hindus as well as bonding the social relations of the Hindu community. Economic cycles in a series of piodalan ceremonies which are symbiotic mutualism also occur between Hindu communities, which in this case is very interesting to study. The results of the analysis show that the piodalan ceremony is a series of remembrance ceremonies to worship the manifestation of Ida Sang Hyang Widhi at a temple or certain places of worship whose implementation is carried out at a predetermined time (every six months or once a year). Religious social education in the piodalan ceremony is strongly felt starting from the process of making ceremonial facilities which are carried out in mutual cooperation, as well as in the ritual process. The piodalan ceremony is also a medium of economic education for Hindus. Some Hindus who are busy with the routines of the world of work who in reality do not have time to make ceremonial facilities will be helped by buying them from productive and active members of the community in the field of providing basic materials for religious ceremony infrastructure. In addition, the piodalan ceremony is a blessing for food and beverage traders around the temple because it is crowded with buyers. Direct economic education will occur because the Hindu community is trained to benefit and prosper one another.

Abstract

One of the concepts that Hindus have in providing an understanding of harmonious life is the emergence of the concept of tri hita karana. This concept has been widely known by Hindus, because this concept has been taught from an early age in the elementary school level. Theoretically, tri hita karana sounds so simple that humans must be able to establish a harmonious relationship with God, fellow humans and the environment. But in reality this concept has not been widely applied in life, so it is still a mere theoretical discourse. This is evidenced by the many problems of human harmony who have religion as a way of life. Tri hita karana is a concept of universal harmony which does not only include God's creation, but includes all components of the universe. The historical traces of the emergence of the concept of tri hita karana to date have proven that this concept must be understood and internalized in human life to achieve peace and harmony.

Abstract

Global life demands that one must think more critically and be more open to change. We cannot deny that an era of freedom is in front of our eyes. We cannot escape, the impact of that era has touched all dimensions of life, even the sexual dimension. If we are not able to think broadly about the changes that may occur in that dimension, then the law of natural selection will speak and eliminate those who are static. Fundamentally, the teaching of sexuality in Hindu religious teachings contained in classical literature in the form of Lontar is actually not a taboo teaching. This can be proven by understanding the teachings of Hinduism in an integral holistic manner. In writing this article, the method used is literature study by entering keywords on google.scholar.com and various other literatures to support the references of this article. In addition, several articles and/or books related to this theme also support the completion of this article. Many academics and religious leaders think that sexuality is an unusual thing to talk about or discuss, but Hinduism responds with a theory that refutes taboos in sexual matters. Sexuality is a very important thing to be discussed and analyzed as a form of a person's fundamental education to know in relation to sex or sexuality.
