Abstract

Backgrounds. The study of production ability and egg weight is important as a reference for farmers to choose the type of duck to be maintained. The purpose of this research was to study the difference of Duck Day Production (DDP) and the difference of duck egg weight of Magelang and Tegal at farmer level (Magelang and Tegal area). Materials and Methods. The research was conducted by survey method at farmer level. Determination of research location was done by stratified random sampling and sampling with purposive random sampling (production and age of livestock), each area was taken by 10 duck breeders Magelang and 10 breeders Tegal (total 20 breeders) and from each breeder taken egg sample of duck as much as 20 eggs (total400 eggs). Data were analyzed using T test for egg production and Randomly Completed Analisys with nesting pattern for egg weight. Results. The result of T test analysis showed that T hit 2,653> T table 2,131 which means there was not significant between DDP of Tegal ducks 63 ±% and Magelang ducks 74 ±%, Magelang ducks have DDP higher than Tegal. Genetic and environmental affects DDP. Magelang egg weight 66,1 gr / grain lower than duck Tegal 66,8gr / grain. There was no real difference between the weight of Magelang duck eggs and Tegal ducks, but there was a significant difference in egg weight of anatar breeders. Conclusion. Tegal ducks that were kept in the area of Tegal produced lower daily egg production compared to Magelang ducks that were kept in Magelang farms. The duck eggs of Tegal and Magelang ware relatively same, but at the farmer level there is a difference.

Abstract

Background. This study aimed to determine the most effective acidifier to be combined with a probiotic-supplemented diet on lowering the level of N-NH3 and water content in broiler chicken feces. Materials and methods. This study was conducted from September 27 to October 31, 2019. The maintenance of chickens was conducted in experimental farm, while N-NH3 and water content analysis was performed in the Laboratory of Animal Feed and Nutrition Sciences, Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Purwokerto. Experiment was conducted in-vivo with 4 treatments (R0 = basal feed; R1= basal feed + lactic acid; R2= basal feed + citric acid; R3= basal feed + formic acid) and 5 repetitions. Each type of acidifier was mixed in drinking water at a concentration of 1% of chicken body weight. The significant results were further analyzed using HSD (honestly significant difference) test. Results. Results of this study showed the average levels of N-NH3 ranged from 0.252 ppm – 0.266 ppm and water ranged from 43.93% – 47.83% were contained in chicken feces. However, statistical analysis showed that the results were not significantly different compared to the control group. It can be concluded that three types of acidifier (citric acid, lactic acid, and formic acid) are able to increase the growth of probiotics and decrease the pathogenic bacteria in digestive track of broiler chicken. Conclusion. That condition is caused by low deamination that can be indicated by low levels of N-NH3 and water content of feces.
