The Progress: Journal of Language and Ethnicity is an academic journal published by Language Center of IAIN Kerinci. 2985-6558 (Online - Elektronik) This journal is interested in researches about language development, language and education, linguistics, cultural and ethnic studies. Specifically, we focus on the study of language and ethnic on local context. The Progress: Journal of Language and Ethnicity is an open-access journal, published twice a year (June and December). This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public. We warmly welcome contributions from scholars and researchers of many disciplines. Authors should submit only papers that have been carefully proofread and polished. Before submission please make sure that your paper is prepared using the journal paper template. The authors must refer to journal writing format and style Please download and use it as a template for initial manuscript submission. This will ensure fast processing and publication. Abstract

This article raises the title " Theology of Sungai Deras  Community in Kanduhai Sko". In the Kerinci community, especially Sungai Deras village, Kanduhai Sko is a tradition that is considered sacred. Many varieties and styles of worship are shown when the Kanduhai event is held. Seeing that there are various religious aspects in the traditional ceremony, makes this topic very interesting to be raised. Because no community is not involved in organizing this sacred event, ranging from children, youth, youth, and parents, who reside and live in Sungai Deras village. The findings in this study indicate the divine values ​​at the Kenduri Sko event for the Sungai Deras community.

Abstract

Sometimes the expression of a word has two meanings because it is called in different places, in linguistic studies it is called a homonym and in balaghah science, it is called Jinas. The purpose of this study is to find out homonym vocabulary in Arabic, especially in the form of isim jamid. This study uses a descriptive method with a content analysis model. The data source is several Arabic vocabulary from the dictionary "mu'jam siyaqi li al-kalimat al-asya'iyyah by Dr. Mahmud Ismail Sinni and "Mu'jam al-Lughah al-Arabiyah al-Muaashiroh" by Dr. Ahmad Mukhtar Umar. The conclusion of this study is that there are several homonymous vocabularies in Arabic with the form of isim jamid, including: إِبْرَةٌ (Needle, Bring into conflict); أَدَبٌ (Morals, Literature); بكرة (Morning, Tomorrow); بَيْتٌ (Home, Verse); جَبْهَةٌ (Forehead, Community, batlefield); جُحْرٌ (Hole, Unhealthy Palce); جَدْوَلٌ (River, Schedule); جَدٌّ (Granpa, Luck, Wealth, Majesty); جَرِيْدَةٌ (Newspaper, Cavalry, Midrib); جُزْءٌ (Some of, Juz, Fate); جُمْلَةٌ (Sentence, All); جَوٌّ (Weather, Air); حجة (Argument, Expert, Enmity); خَاتِمٌ (Ring, Stamp, Last); خَالٌ (Uncle, Mole, Cloud, Arogant); خُرْطُوْم (Khartoum, Trunk, Wine), دَقِيْقٌ (Wheat flour, Deep understanding, Short guy); رِبَاطٌ (Relationship, Promise, Shoelaces, rope, Ribath); زُبْدَةٌ (Butter, Basic); سَاعَةٌ (For a moment, One hour, Doomsday); سَبْعُ (Wild animal, Seven); سُلَالَةٌ (Sperm, Lineage); سِنٌّ (Teeth, Age); عَيْنٌ (Eye, Spy, Spring); كأس (Glass, Trophy, Wine); هِلَال (crescent moon, Lunula, Brecket).

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic shocked education systems in Indonesia. After ten months of online learning, the government stated that starting July 2021 was the beginning of a trial meeting face-to-face in the school. To meet the needs of students, the Problem-based Learning model is a suitable learning model that can improve students’ thinking skills. This study aimed to discover EFL teachers' perspectives on implementing Problem-based Learning during the Pandemic era. This research employed the descriptive qualitative research design. An interview was used to collect the data from participants 2 teachers English in a Vocational High School. The results showed that the respondents of this study had the same and different perspectives on implementing Problem-based Learning. However, the implementation has several obstacles, including low student motivation, declining student abilities, and gaps in students' ability from one group to another. The main suggestion is to apply this method in learning English as a foreign language.

Abstract

يهدف هذا البحث لمعرفة ظواهر اضطرابات اللغة العربية للأطفال التوحديين وأثرها فى تعلم اللغة العربية.  يستخدم البحث مدخل كيفي ونوعه بحث وصفي،ومنهجيته دراسة حالة .وأما طريقة لجمع البيانات بالملاحظة والمقابلة. ودلت  نتيجة البحث  هي أن ظواهر اضطرابات اللغة العربية منها : معظمهم يتأخرون فى فهم كلام المخاطب وبعضهم يسرعون ويضحكون فى تكلم اللغة العربية  حتى ينطقون حرف من الحروف الهجائية بنطق غير واضح. ويشعرون في فرق بين الحرف من الحروف الهجائية. فلذلك هذه الاضطرابات يؤثر على تعليم اللغة العربية أثرا هاما. فى هذه المشكلة فيحتاج دور المدرس لحل هذه المشكلات.

Abstract

علم البلاغة في قسم تعليم اللغة العربية بالجامعة مولانا مالك إبراهيم الإسلامية الحكومية مالنق إحدى مواد يتعلّمه طلبة. يتكوّن تعليم البلاغة على ثلاث مراحل؛ البلاغة I التي تحتوى بها على المبحث "المعاني"، وغيرها "البديع والبيان" هما متوفّر في البلاغة II و III. التفضيل على تقديم الكتب "جواهير البلاغ والبلاغة العربية والتلخيص في وجوه البلاغة وتسهيل البلاغة والإيضاح في علوم البلاغة" كالمراجع في تعليم علم المعانى، تشير إلى عدم مراعاة كتاب البلاغة الواضحة لعلي الجارم ومصطفى أمين. ويهدف الباحث إلى معرفة مدى تعقيدات كتاب البلاغة الواضحة لتعليم علم المعاني. يستخدم الباحث منهجًا تفسيريًا بالدراسة المكتبية كنوع البحث من خلال طريقة الملاحظة على النظريات المتعلّقة بالمادة التعليمية وطريقة التقويم على كتاب البلاغة الواضحة بالنسبة على النظريات المتوفّرة. بعد إجراء عملية فهم النظريات وتمّ التقويم مع تحليلها، وصل الباحث إلى معرفة تعقيدات مادة علم المعانى في كتاب البلاغة الواضحة. بعد أن يقوم الباحث بالدراسة، اكتشفت البيانات: 1) كانت مادة المعاني في الكتاب البلاغة الواضحة شبعا عن المعاير المادة التعليمية المتوفرات من ناحية الأهداف وموضوعات الدّرس وطريقة العرض والتقويم، إلا في معيار العالمية Universality. 2) المادة عارية عن الأشكال والصور. الإقتراحة لهذا البحث هي مراعاة الكتاب البلاغة الواضحة و إتمامه حتى يكون مرجعا في تعليم علم المعانى أمر ضروري.

Abstract

This study reveals the supporting and inhibiting factors experienced by educators, students, as well as parents when carrying out the online education process for Arabic subjects at Madrasah Ibtida'iyyah elementary schools. Field data in the form of interviews and observations will be analyzed in qualitative form and described descriptively. After the researchers analyzed this research, it showed that the online learning process at MI Miftakhul Khoirot caused new problems which were influenced by several factors, both supporting and inhibiting factors. As a result, teachers, students, and parents should be able to adapt to using the online learning system to keep it running smoothly and efficiently.

Abstract

Abstact Polysemy has problematic issues in the study of linguistics since one word can have many meanings. It depends on the context of many things. Moreover in translation. The accurate of choosing the equivalence in target language is much more difficult. This research is an attempt to analyze two translation works. The first work is The Holy Qur’an with English Translation and Commentaries by Yusuf Ali, and the second is Interpretation of The Meanings of Noble Qur’an: A Summerized Version of at-Tabari, al-Qurtubi and Ibn Kathir with Comments from Sahih al-Bukhari by Muhsin Khan and Taqiudin Al Hilali. This research is qualitative research. This research finds that the word wali/auliya and its derivations are translated into various ways. In some places they are translated into the same words and in another place they are translated differently. However, Muhsin Khan and Hilali mostly translate this word into the same word, wali/auliya with explanation following in the bracket. Keywords: polysemy, wali/auliya, translation.

Abstract

Education is one of the most important elements for the formation of character and the builder of a nation's civilization. There are three factors in the formation of a civilization, namely the view of life, science and one of them is education. This paper aims to describe the conceptual differences between Western Education and Islamic Education. In accordance with the research methodology used in this study, namely: library researchis to collect, books, papers, articles and other references. Based on the results of the analysis that has been carried out, it can be concluded that the differences in the paradigms of Western and Islamic education are: In the ontological realm, the differences in education are seen mainly in the scope and nature of education itself. For the West, the scope and nature of education is limited to the visible aspects (empirical-positivistic), While Islamic education covers a more holistic scope, in addition to the empirical area (al-syahadah) but also in the area of meaning (al-ghaib). Then in the epistemological realm, the difference between the two lies in the source of knowledge, in Islam the source of education is the Qur'an, hadith and ijma'. While in the west the source is life experience. Axiologically, Western education does not make values   as part of educational outcomes, but as an effort to mature children, while Islam positions values as substantive in education.

Abstract

This paper aim to identify the synthesis of education in the interpretation of thematic studies of the terms included in the connotation of education. This paper is the result of a literature review on terms that connote education in the Qur'an and al-Sunnah, namely tarbiyah, ta'lim, ta'dib, tadris, da'wah, irsyad, tadbir, tazkiyah, and uswah. This paper concludes that the nine terms that connote education in their respective contexts describe the concept of education in a complete synthesis, which is in line with the dynamics of humanity as God's representative on earth. The results of this study can be used to understand the nature of the terms included in the connotation of education and their implications for Islamic education.

Abstract

Conflicts within diversity become conflicts that never stop. Even Indonesia itself also feel this. Even though this Bhineka Tunggal Ika country is seen as a country that upholds the values ​​of tolerance, various diversity lives in harmony and peace in one region. But now this nation's tolerance attitude is starting to fade and turn to intolerance by blaming each other, disbelieving each other, and not infrequently even leading to criminal acts. This conflict does not only occur between different religious communities; fellow religious communities also often occur due to differences in views. Like the conflicts that arise at the turn of the year, namely differences in views on the greeting of Merry Christmas, during the election season in Indonesia, there are always conflicts between supporters of spouses based on differences in choices. The latest phenomenon is the statement of a priest to delete several verses of the Koran. Another case is the ban on wearing the veil, cingkrang pants, and others. This conflict often occurs due to mutual self-claims as the most righteous and waning of tolerance. Even though the government always calls to implement religious moderation by respecting each other and respecting differences. It is appropriate that the tasamuh concept is re-interpreted to become a resolution of diversity conflicts. So the author unravels the concept of tasamuh in this paper by analyzing verses related to tolerance. Hopefully, this paper can help in anticipating the occurrence of diversity conflicts.
