Abstract

Background: Autotransplantation is a surgical movement to reposition teeththat have been erupted, partially erupted or not yet erupted from one place to another in the same individual, either on post-extraction sockets or artifcial sockets made by surgery. Dental folicle from impacted teeth may develope dentigerous cysts that will result in destruction of the jaw bone. There are many factors that influence the success of autotransplantation, one of which is adequate bone support. The purpose of this poster is to present the successful autotransplantation treatment of impacted right maxillary incisor teeth associated with dentigerous cyst and bone support replacement after cyst enucleation using a carbonate apatite collagen graft, GAMACHA®, at RSUP Dr. Sardjito.Case management: A 9-year-old girl, referred to the Oral and MaxillofacialSurgery Department of RSUP Dr. Sardjito with the complaint of right deciduous maxillary incisor persistence. Radiological examination showing persistent of 51 and 52 radices and impaction of teeth 11 and 12 in a horizontal position above radix 53. Also visible radiolucent image with a frm limit around the crown of 11 that supports the image of cyst. This patient performed cyst enucleation under general anesthesia, removal of impacted 11 and 21, followed by an artifcial socket drilling at the alveolar bone that could support all aspects of the root wall although only on the apical part of the tooth root for teeth 11 and 12 placement. Autotransplantation of teeth11 and 12 followed by the application of GAMACHA® and wire fxation, strengthen with acrylic splint. Conclusion: Two years follow up after surgery, patient have no complaintseither from aesthetic or functional and the result of clinical and radiologicalexamination did not found existence of any pathological abnormalities around teeth 11 and 12.

Abstract

Background: Aloe vera contains active components such as antrhaquinones, saponin, glucomannans, and acemannans that have been known for its antimicrobial properties. In vitro study showed that Aloe vera extract can inhibit the growth of Streptococcus mutans. Studies reported that children with caries have high level of salivary S. mutans which is the main pathogen in dental caries. The gold standard mouthrinse for dental caries is chlorhexidine gluconate, but it has several side effects. The objective of this study was to compare the effect between Aloe vera juice and 0.06% chlorhexidine mouth rinse on salivary S. mutans in children with caries. Methods: This experimental research with pretest and post-test control group design conducted on 30 children (6-12 years old) with number of carious teeth >4. Subjects divided into 2 groups: Aloe vera juice group and 0.06% chlorhexidine group, which instructed to rinse their mouth with 10 ml stated mouthwash, twice a day, during 7-day period. Unstimulated saliva was collected at baseline and after 7 days then inoculated on mitis salivarius bacitracin agar. S. mutans were counted and expressed in CFU/ml. Data were analyzed using paired t-test and independent t-test.Result: The result showed that a significant reduction in salivary S.mutanscounts was observed with Aloe vera juice mouth rinse and 0.06% chlorhexidine (p<0.05). The mean reduction of S. mutans counts was not statistically significantly between grup (p>0.05).Conclusion: These findings suggest that Aloe vera juice can reduce salivary S. mutans in children with caries so it can be considered as alternative mouthwash to prevent caries.

Abstract

Background: Composite resin is the most widely used restoration material. This material is composed of several materials such as polymer matrix, fller particles and silane coupling agents. As technology progresses, microhybrid, nanohybrid and packable composite resin materials are developed, with good handling and mechanical properties. As a polymer-based material, the composite resin absorbs the liquid, causing the solubility of the resin matrix. Carbonated drinks and chlorine, are acidic liquids that can cause soluble resin matrix. The aim of this paper is to compare water sorption and solubility between composite resin type microhybrid, nanohybrid, packable from different brand. Methods: This research used experimental method with sample of composite resin disk with diameter 15 mm and thickness 1 mm. The number of samples was 90 divided into 18 treatment groups, 9 group immersed in carbonated drinks and 9 group immersed in chlorine. The grouping is based on composite resin type microhybrid, nanohybrid, packable from different brand. Water sorption is measured by the sample mass difference before and after immersion then divided by the initial volume of the sample. While the solubility of the composite resin was measured by reducing the sample mass prior to submersion and afterdrying then divided by the initial volume of the sample.Result: The results showed signifcant differences in water sorption on chlorine, solubility in carbonated beverages and chlorine. Meanwhile, an insignifcant difference occurred in water sorption in carbonated beverages. Conclusion: water sorption and solubility in 3 types of composite resin with9 different product, not depend on the composite resin type but depend on the product used
