Abstract

Previous studies showed that most of the respondents who were hospitalized at Sawerigading Hospital, Palopo City were the elderly group, with mostly normal nutritional status and were treated with a diagnosis of hypertension. This study aims to determine the relationship of initial nutritional status with a history of hypertension in the elderly group who are hospitalized at Sawerigading Hospital, Palopo City. This research is a cross sectional study, which is a correlational study to find out whether there is a relationship between nutritional status variables and a history of hypertension in the elderly who are hospitalized. The data used is secondary data, the sample selection in this study was carried out using a purposive sampling technique with sample inclusion criteria, namely having data from anthropometric measurements, diagnoses or blood pressure measurements, and aged ≥ 60 years. The results showed that the total respondents aged ≥ 60 years were 195 people with the percentage of hypertension status mostly did not have history of hypertension 122 (62.6%) and most of them with normal nutritional status 116 people (59.5%). The results also show that there is no significant relationship between nutritional status and the incidence of hypertension in the elderly (p=0.284).

The period of the first 1000 days of life was a vulnerable period for children to experience stunting, starting from pregnancy until the child is 2 years old. Nutritional status during the preconception period can affect pregnancy and the welfare of the baby, so it needs to be maximized before pregnancy. This study aims to conduct early detection of stunting risk in women of childbearing age preconception in the city of Parepare. The type of research used was descriptive. The sample in this study were some of the prospective brides at the Office of Religious Affairs in Parepare City. The sampling technique using the Purpossive Sampling method was 50 people. Data collection was carried out from March to May 2022. The nutritional status of the prospective bride and groom was obtained through measurements of upper arm circumference and hemoglobin levels. The results showed that 46% of the brides-to-be had Chronic Energy Deficiency (KEK) and 38% had anemia. According to the level of knowledge about nutrition, 10% have low knowledge and 62% have moderate level of knowledge. It was suggested the need for education to women of childbearing age preconception and improvement of nutritional status to prevent the risk of stunting, especially in the first 1000 days of.

Abstract

Excess and malnutrition in adulthood are serious problems that increase the risk of disease. Nutritional status can be influenced by several factors, one of which is coffee consumption and screen time. Coffee consumption and screen-time can be impactful to a person's length of sleep. The purpose of this study was to clarify the relationship between screen time and coffee consumption with length of sleep and nutritional status in the population aged 20 to 45 years who lived in Buttu Sawe Village, Pinrang District. This type of research is observational research with a cross-sectional research approach. The sample is the entire adult community aged 20-45 years in Buttu Village, Pinrang Regency. The sampling technique was carried out using the purpossive sampling method of 100 people. Bivariate analysis using pearson correlation test. The results showed that there was no relationship between coffee consumption (r = 0.150, p = 0.136) and nutritional status (r = -0.087, p = 0.388), there was no relationship of screen-time with sleep length (r = -0.020, p = 0.847) and there was a screen-time relationship with nutritional status (r = -0.434, p = 0.000).

Abstract

According to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) in 2019 there were 463 million people suffering from diabetes. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of nutrition education on the level of knowledge and self management in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at the Somba Opu Health Center in 2020. The type of research used is quantitative with pre post one group design research, and a quasy experiment approach. Accidental sampling technique with a total sample of 45 people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Data collection used questionnaires, video media and leaflets. Data analysis used consists of 2 stages, namely univariate and bivariate (Anova test and Friedman test). The results of this study indicate that there is no effect of nutrition education on the level of pre-test knowledge in each intervention group, namely the p value ꞊ 0.155 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. There is an effect of nutrition education on the level of knowledge post test p value = 0.001, the level of self management pre test p value = 0.001 and the level of self management post test p value = 0.000 in each intervention group in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. With the incidence of diabetes mellitus, it is hoped that health workers will further improve the program in the field of counseling and provide education related to dietary therapy for food selection

Abstract

Dehydration that occurs in adults is influenced by various factors including age, gender, fluid intake, physical activity, nutritional status, body temperature and environmental temperature. This study aims to determine the relationship between nutritional status, fluid intake and physical activity with the incidence of dehydration in corn farmers in Jeneponto Regency. This research is a quantitative study using an analytic observational approach with a Cross Sectional Study design. The sample in the study was 99 respondents obtained by using the slovin formula with the Proportional Random Sampling technique based on the residence in the respondent's hamlet area. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test. To determine the risk (Odds ratio) of exposure to cases, a confidence interval (CI) value of 95% (α 0.05) was used. The results of the study showed that there was a relationship between nutritional status (p=0.000, OR=0.659), physical activity (p=0.000, OR=3.430) and fluid intake (p=0.003, OR=0.225) with dehydration status in farmers in Jeneponto District. Nutritional status, physical activity and fluid intake are risk factors associated with dehydration in corn farmers in Jeneponto Regency. Corn farmers are expected to pay more attention to daily fluid intake, by bringing drinking water facilities to the workplace and consuming drinking water at least 2 liters/day.
