Abstract

Economic diversity has often been promoted as a means to achieve the economic goal of stability. Many empirical studies have also concluded that greater diversification in economic can reduce vulnerability and engendering financial development. The objective of this paper is to analyze the degree of economic diversification at village level. This research was conducted at twenty villages located around Kerinci Seblat National Park (TNKS) and determined purposively and surveyed. Twenty households from each selected village were selected using systematic random sampling method, so the total respondents were 400 households. Economic diversity at the village level was estimated using EDI suggested by Dewi, et al (2005).Research found that EDI value for each village studied varies from 0.20 to 1.00 with no village reaches 1.099, which is an ideal condition. The lowest EDI, i.e. 0.20, occurs in the village of Karang Dapo Atas and Karang Dapo Bawah, subdistrict of Bingin Kuning and the village of Ujung Tanjung II Subdistrict Embong Uram Karang. This value indicates that households in the village surveyed simply rely on one type of work, especially in the agricultural sector. This also means that not many households get into other employment sectors such as mining and or services/stalls/stores. By simply relying on agriculture as its main source of income, households tend to be vulnerable if there is a change in the agricultural sector, especially in sectors such as coffee and rubber plantations.

Abstract

The objective of the research is to analyze the development of production, selling, and factor of supply of CPO (Crude Palm Oil) in PT. Agricinal. The location is determined by purposive method with consideration that PT. Agricinal is one of the biggest CPO manufacture in Bengkulu Province. The development of production and selling are analyzed by using the Ratio to Moving Average and to analyze several factors of supply of CPO is used Linier Regression. The result research shows that (1) production development of CPO and its sales in PT. Agricinal is fluctuating year by year during 2005 – 2009. It is caused by selling in PT Agricinal is not based on its mass production, moreover in asking or order from the CPO customer; (2) the CPO price is the only one variable that give an effect to CPO offering in PT. Agricinal simultaneously.

The criteria are based on the number of industries on each region selected. Eighty six respondents are selected using simple random sampling. To answer the purposes of this research, the research uses descriptive analysis, quantitative analysis of Cobb-Douglas function, Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) method and Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) method. The research result shows that the inputs used the palm sugar productionare from buying, their owned, and rented. The result also shows that the volume of nira is important input in palm sugar production, while other factors, i.e., firewood, man labor, woman labor, are not. Abstract

The aims of the research are to 1) determine factors that affect the production of ubi jalar ungu, 2) to know how much costs and revenues the ubi jalar ungu farming, 3) to determine the efficiency of the ubi jalar ungu farming, 4) to calculate how much added value from ubi jalar ungu processing into fried macaroni. This study sites was intentionally set in the village of Teladan. The data is obtained from the primary data and the secondary data, the respondents of ubi jalar ungu farmers was taken by census method. While the processor is home industry ZAHRA. The result shows that significant factos are seeds, Phonska fertilizers, manures and labors. While, land factor is not significant. The total cost for the ubi jalar ungu farming is Rp 2.900.054,13/Ut/Mt or Rp 8.209.106,83/Ha/Mt, and a revenue is Rp 3.241.570,87/Ut/Mt, or Rp 9.190.226,51/Ut/Ha. Result of the R/C ratio is 2,12, and the value is greater than one. It means that the farming is efficient. The added value of ZAHRA home industry is Rp 41.072,-/kg, with a profit of Rp 37.472,-/kg, and the rate of profit reaches 91.23 %. This benefit is a net plus, because it has been reduced by the share of the labor.

Abstract

This study aimed to know: 1) inputs that affect the red tilapia production (output), 2) the allocative efficiency level of the inputs, and 3) the optimum amount of the inputs that must be allocated efficiently. 35 respondents were taken by cencus method. The Cobb Douglass model was used to analyze which factors or inputs such as pond wide, red tilapia fingerlings, feed, manure and labour affect the red tilapia production. The results showed that the pond wide and feed positively affected the red tilapia production, whereasred tilapia fingerlings, manure and labour did not. The inputs allocative efficiency level of pond wide and feed were 1,900 and 1,250 or more than 1. That was meaned those inputs allocation were not efficient yet. Pond wide must to be added to the optimal level 0,96 Ha from 0,49 Ha and feed must to be added from 5.036,000 to 6312,050 kg/production period.

Abstract

Smallholder oil palm estate in Jambi Province is growing. Some indicators are land development, production, and employment. Smallholder oil palm estate can be a major driver of the economy so that the country can move other economic sectors, such as trade, transport, electricity and gas, manufacture small industrial and other sectors, which in turn increases the income of the village as a whole. This study aimed to determine (1) the development of oil palm estate seen from land, production, and employment in the province of Jambi (2) Impact of smallholder oil palm estate against Gross Regional Domestic Product Villages in Jambi Province. The research method used in this study is a survey method. This method of research was done deductively, by conducting an analysis of the object. Data were collected from primary sources and secondary sources. The development of oil palm plantations quantitatively analyzed descriptively. To determine whether the development of oil palm plantations had such an impact is determined by the formula LQ (Location Quotient) and the magnitude of the impact made by Formula ME (multiplier effect). To determine the value of LQ and ME the sample villages can be determined that a major driver of the sector (Prime mover sector) in the village economy. These results indicate that oil palm plantations have grown rapidly both views of land, production, and employment. Oil palm plantations have an impact on the income of the people of the village, where 9 of 20 samples villages have values LQ>1 with the average ME value was 1.4107, which means that any increase in palm oil revenue amounted toRp1, -it will be able to increase the income of the region village as a whole amounted to1.4107times. The impact is especially true of the sub-sectors of trade, transport sub-sector, and electricity and gas sub-sector. The impact is small relative to the manufacturing sector.
