Abstract

This article focuses on the conception of marriage in Islam called mītsāqan ghalīzhan. In the context of this research, the concept of mītsāqan ghalīzhan is placed as a response to the problem of feminism's perspective that considers marriage and family to only bring misery and oppression to women. Using library research and content analysis methods, this study found that the concept of mīthsāqan ghalīzhan in Islamic marriage indicates a strong and holy covenant, accompanied by the values of devotion, harmony, and mutual understanding between husband and wife. This concept emphasizes loyalty, justice, and cohesion in the bond of marriage. Meanwhile, feminist views on marriage tend to focus on gender equality, rejection of patriarchal structures, and emphasis on women's rights.

Abstract

Desacralization of politics is a thought born from a Western secular perspective, aiming to separate religion from politics. It has a bad influence on human life both in epistemologically and methodologically aspects. In addition, this thought also had an impact and was adopted by Muslim scholars, one of which was Ali Abdul Raziq in his secular political theory. Ali argues that "The message of the Prophet is purely a religious message", and "Political matters are only a matter of reason and human experimentation". As an effort to diagnose and treat the negative impact of desacralization of politics on these Muslim scholars, it is necessary to implement the Islamization of knowledge initiated by al-Attas. Through library research with a descriptive analysis approach, it can be concluded that, firstly, the Islamization of knowledge can be carried out in two steps, de-westernization and integration. Secondly, as a result of this Islamization, Ali Abdul Raziq's political thought which was originally secular can be Islamized into, "The message of the Messenger of Allah is a treatise that covers the affairs of the world and the hereafter" and "Political matters must be left to revelation, reason and human experimentation which do not conflict with revelation.

Abstract

This article began with the question of whether Indonesian democracy is based on religious values (Islam) or whether it purely adopts Western values. This was because debates regarding this question continue to be echoed in the history of the Indonesian nation’s journey. As a result, there were groups that accepted and fought secular Western democracy to be implemented in Indonesia, there were also those who rejected it blindly, and there were those who thought democracy was not all against Islam, but it did not fully represent Islamic politics absolutely. This article examines the technical and philosophical characteristics of Indonesian democracies. This article is qualitative used library research for data collection from books, journal articles, and documents related to the Indonesian democracy. The collected data were then processed using descriptive analysis methods. This study found that Indonesia adopts a unique democratic system in which Islamic values are embedded and in harmony with it.

Abstract

Establishing hadith as the second source of law after the Qur'an is a consensus among scholars. However, not everyone has held this view throughout history. One such dissenting opinion is the school of Inkarsunah, which outright rejects the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as an argument. This research aims to dissect the arguments of Inkarsunah in rejecting hadith as a source of Islamic law while addressing the doubts and objections to their arguments. The method employed is descriptive analysis with a literature approach (library research), encompassing the arguments of Inkarsunah and analyzing them through the refutations provided by scholars. The results reveal that there are similarities in the arguments presented by historical and contemporary Inkarsunah. Consequently, what was refuted by al-Shafi‘i and other scholars remains relevant for use in the present time.

Abstract

In the study of Islamic philosophy, De Boer is a representative figure and is considered his thought. His work entitled History of Philosophy in Islam is the first writing that is compiled holistically from the initial period of the formation of Islamic philosophy to the Medieval Period. This paper tries to read De Boer's thoughts in his work and critically analyze the framework he uses. This paper is qualitative in nature by taking the text as its data source, which is analyzed descriptively-critically with a philosophical and historical approach. In his work, De Boer chose "philosophy in Islam" as a term for the tradition of critical thinking in Islamic civilization. With this designation, Muslim philosophers are those who have philosophical thought in Islamic history, with al-Farabi as the originator. According to De Boer, philosophy in Islam is limited to the paripathetic tradition. De Boer's choice of the term "philosophy in Islam" shows his doubts about the authenticity of Islamic philosophy, so that Muslim philosophers only continued the Greek tradition of thought. This frame of mind is typical of Western orientalists. This paper discovers the confusion in De Boer's thinking and proves that the tradition of Islamic thought, Islamic sciences, including Islamic Philosophy, has existed since the beginning of Islam and is original based on the unique Islamic worldview.

Abstract

This article aims to review the phenomenon of hyperreality experienced by postmodern society and how Islam responds to it. Caused by the development of information technology, especially internet or cyberspace, hyperreality shapes behaviour patterns in people's lives. They are unable to distinguish between reality and fantasy. This phenomenon then creates an identity crisis. In Islam, it needs serious attention because it falls into the category of nifāq. Using descriptive-analytical methods, this article reviews the problems of Western society in interpreting reality and self, freedom and human rights, to be answered with Islamic teachings about it. The article finds that the phenomenon of hyperreality of Western society also affects Muslims today. Unlike Western societies that uphold value freedom and relativism, Islam has taught its followers to be servants and caliphs on earth who have a mandate to do good and spread goodness; to do what is right and to forsake evil. This is the identity of the Muslims. They must not deceive in the name of rights and freedoms to present a false reality. Since rights and freedoms are closely related to goodness.
