Abstract

This study is aimed to report elementary students' engagement and perception of the use of storytelling in reading comprehension. The use of storytelling as one of the oldest ways of human communication is already known. It is also one of the pedagogical tools to develop language skills in first, second, and foreign languages regardless of students' age, gender, and ethnicity. Storytelling proved to be more effective in language teaching than traditional teaching material because it is fun, engaging, and raises students' interest in listening to the stories as well as retelling them. Meanwhile, reading is a crucial aspect of life, improving brain performance, increasing knowledge, and sharpening memory. This research employed a case study with a qualitative approach. The participants of the study were 31 elementary school students.  The data were derived from classroom observations, questionnaires, and interviews. The results showed that the students engaged in the activity in storytelling class. The questionnaire and observational data indicated that the children responded positively to storytelling activity and engage the students to the reading class, motivating students' behavior and attitudes in EFL reading activity.  Drawing on the findings, pedagogically, this study implied story telling can be adopted as the scaffolding to engage students in reading comprehension situated in elementary school context.

Abstract

The study, entitled "Business Development of Candied Nutmeg Making UD. Dianti Gampong Hilir Kecamatan Tapaktuan 1978 - 2021 "This aims to determine the initial process of the birth of the business of making candied nutmeg of UD. Dianti Gampong Hilir, Tapaktuan District from 1978-2021 and to find out how the development of the business of making candied nutmeg UD. Dianti Gampong Hilir, Tapaktuan District from 1978 - 2021. This study uses a qualitative approach to the type of historical research. The subjects in this study were the owners of candied nutmeg. Data collection techniques using observation and interview techniques. All data from observations and interviews were processed with the data analysis stage, namely, data reduction, data presentation, and verification / drawing conclusions. The results of this study can be concluded that the development of the business of making candied nutmeg UD. Dianti Gampong Hilir, Tapaktuan District is quite good. Among them, the owner of candied nutmeg is getting more advanced than usually selling only candied nutmegs but now there are new products produced by the owner of candied nutmeg due to business development from year to year.

Abstract

This study investigated impact of schools plant on English Teachers job performance and students’ academic performance in public secondary schools in FCT, Abuja, Nigeria. The study adopted a descriptive research design with a population of all the English language Teachers and English students in the public secondary schools in FCT. Simple random sampling technique was used to select 120 English Teachers and 300 English students (SS2). Questionnaire was adopted as data collection instrument. The instrument used to collect data was the ‘Impact of School Plant on Teachers Job Performance and Student Academic Performance Questionnaire (ISPTJPQ)’. The questionnaire has sections A and B. Section A was on personal data of the respondents while section B provided answers to the research questions raised for the items on a modified Likert scale of measurement: Strongly agree (SA), agree (SA), disagree (D), Strongly disagree (SD). The reliability of the instrument was established through the test-retest method. The two sets of responses were correlated using Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation and a reliability coefficient of 0.84 was obtained. Data collected were analysed using the mean, percentage, Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation (r), Zero Differentiation Hypothesis statistical. The findings showed that there is significant relationship between school plant and English language teachers’ job performance in public secondary schools. The result also indicated that there is significant relationship between school plant and academic performance of students in public secondary schools.

Abstract

The research, entitled Military Strategy in Resolving the DI/TII Rebellion in Aceh in 1953-1959, aims to (1) describe the implementation of any military strategy used in resolving the DI/TII rebellion in Aceh, (2) explain the impact of the enactment of military-assisted regions. (Militaire Bijstand) and the Application of the Conceptual Wise Principle to the settlement of the DI/TII rebellion in Aceh in 1953-1959. This study uses a qualitative approach with the help of historical methods. The data collection techniques were carried out through documentation, literature review, and interviews. The results obtained from this study are (1) The implementation of Military Assisted Regions (Militaire Bijstand) became the first strategy to be implemented by sending troops and armed equipment to secure conditions in Aceh, then the next military strategy was implemented called the Wise Principle Concept which became a new beginning for settlement of the rebellion in Aceh. The success of this conception was finally proven by the establishment of the Lamteh Pledge agreement, (2) Development after the completion of the DI/TII rebellion occurred from various sectors in Aceh.

Abstract

Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 9 of 2015 concerning the Second Amendment to Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 23 of 2014 concerning Regional Government. Regional revenues budgeted in APBD can guarantee that regional and community independence will soon be realized, especially from general allocation funds which will provide certainty for regions in obtaining financing sources. Regarding the effect of the recession on economic growth and government policies, a number of international institutions project world economic growth in 2023 to be in the range of 2.3% -2.9%. In this case, regional income has a relationship with various social physical and economic variables is to identify which variables have an influence on the acceptance of regional income. Through regional autonomy, the transfer of government authority by the central government to autonomous regions aims to achieve prosperity through public services that are basic services as well as leading sector development.

Abstract

Figurative language is an interesting phenomenon to be studied and analyzed because it is one of the most arduous topics that literal language processing has to face and it is used in any form of communication. The aims of this study were to identify and analyze figurative language of wotikwawiwaten ceremony. This research used descriptive qualitative research. The techniques of data collection used in this research were interview and study document. The result of this study shows that there are four types of figurative language found; they are simile, repetition, hyperbole, and symbol.

Abstract

This Article aims to describe the process of using the everyone is a teacher here learning method assisted by the rolling ball games media in learning history for class XI IPA 3 students at SMA Negeri 1 Bandar Baru and to determine the response of students' using the everyone is a teacher learning method assisted by rolling ball games media. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the level of interest in learning history of students got a score of 80% of the percentage of 100% which was included in the good category and the results of the evaluation value based on the calculation of the percentage of 80% of students completed and 20% incomplete. Based on the description above, it proves that the use of the everyone is a teacher here learning method assisted by rolling ball games media increases interest in learning history for students in class XI IPA 3 SMA Negeri 1 Bandar Baru . Student responses to the use of the everyone is a teacher here learning method assisted by the rolling ball games media received a positive response, this was evidenced by the percentage of student responses which was worth 81.8%.

Abstract

This study aims to describe how the Loyang Mendale and Loyang Ujung Karang sites, based on their relics have the potential as a source of historical learning. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. Sources of literature in the study came from scientific articles and books related to the excavation results of the Loyang Mendale and Loyang Ujung Karang sites. The results of this study are to describe findings of Hoabinh cultural tools from the Mesolithic period, to Austronesian cultural tools from the Neolithic period at both sites. Based on the results of the archaeological finds, the Loyang Mendale and Ujung Karang sites have the potential to be used as sources for learning history, and can be grouped into KD 3.4 and 4. 4 in the Indonesian History subject class X with the teaching material of prehistoric Life in Indonesia. Learning history by using local pre-historic cultural relics is expected to foster students' interest in loving the history of their area.

Abstract

In Acehnese society itself, there is a system of prestige given to the head of the family at home, namely the father figure. The form of prestige is in the form of appreciation and privilege of treatment to the father. This study aims to explore the socio-cultural values embedded in Acehnese society, namely the value of prestige which is closely related to the patrilineal system. Although it is often not realized, the existence of these values is real. By using a qualitative approach in the form of a literature review study, namely a literature study that uses references from other research journals, theses, theses, books related to the prestige value of the father figure in the family. This study also relates the focus of the study to a feminist view that basically the main essence desired by women is the creation of harmony, dignity, and freedom in managing life, both from within and from outside the home. Meanwhile, in Aceh, the privileged access or advantages that women get is always related to marital status. They will get their rights if they get married, and have children. However, it is still not comparable to that obtained by the adam in the family. In conclusion, the prestige value is still embedded in the Acehnese family, but the practice is no longer the same as before

Abstract

This study aims to determine how the application of the TPS learning model assisted by ludo media history learning, the obstacles faced by teachers and the responses of class XI IPS 1 student at SMA Negeri 6 Banda Aceh in applying the TPS learning model assisted by ludo media in history learning. This study  uses a qualitative approach with descriptive research type, while the technique used was a purposve sampling technique. The data collection in this study was carried out by interview, observations, questionnaires and documentation. Based on the results of the study, it is knows that (1) The application of the TPS learning model assisted by ludo media in history learning for Class XI IPS 1 SMA Negeri 6 Banda Aceh is included in good criteria. (2) Obstacles faced by teachers in applying the TPS learning model assisted by ludo media in history learning, namely from the aspect of time, student and the Covid-19 national disaster. (3) Student responses to the TPS learning model assisted by ludo media were enthusiastic and enthusiastic even though they had never experienced it before. Learn to use the TPS learning model assisted by ludo media. There are also some who have difficulty in understanding the learning material. It is proven by the percentage of student responses on the questionnaire sheet which shows an average value of 76,5% which is in good criteria.
