Abstract

This study aims to analyze the representation of millennial students in digital literacy on Instagram using Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis. This study describes how millennial students represent themselves in the context of digital literacy through popular social media platforms such as Instagram. A critical discourse analysis approach is used to reveal the power relations involved in this representation. This research method involves analyzing visual and text content uploaded by millennial students on their Instagram accounts. This study's results indicate that millennial students' representation of digital literacy on Instagram is strongly influenced by their cultural, religious, and social context factors. They use Instagram to express their religious identity, share religious knowledge, and promote Islamic values relevant to the digital era. However, there are also constructions of representation that face conflict with the dominant narrative. Millennial students face challenges in navigating the complex digital literacy space, often facing negative stereotypes or discrimination. This research identifies the efforts of millennial students to challenge negative narratives and build strong communities on Instagram. Thus, this research provides a deeper understanding of the representation of millennial students in digital literacy on Instagram. The implications of this research can be used to strengthen the role of millennial Santri in influencing public narratives and promoting a better understanding of Islam in the digital era.

Abstract

Wacana childfree menjadi diskursus yang ramai diperbincangkan di Indonesia setelah dikampanyekan oleh seorang influencer Gita Safitri pada platform media sosial. Childfree menjadi topik pembahasan yang diangkat di berbagai media massa dan media sosial. Salah satu media online yang membuka ruang terhadap pembahasan childfree adalah NU Online. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui makna pesan yang digunakan media NU Online dalam merepresentasikan childfree sebagai pesan yang dikonsumsi khalayak. Artikel ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan analisis framing model Robert Entmant. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pesan media yang ditampilkan oleh NU Online memiliki orientasi yang menekankan pada pesan-pesan Islam yang mengarahkan masyarakat pada tercapainya maqasid al-syariah (tujuan hukum Islam). Pernikahan dan kehadiran anak menjadi sebuah keniscayaan bagi manusia. NU Online menilai bahwa pilihan childfree di Indonesia tidak sesuai dengan tujuan hukum pernikahan dalam Islam dalam rangka menjaga keturunan (hizb nasl).

Abstract

Pada tanggal 18 Januari 2023 nama Cak Nun ramai diperbincangkan di media sosial setelah beredarnya video yang berisi kritikan terhadap presiden Jokowi. Bahkan nama Cak Nun justru mencuat dan menjadi tending posisi ke empat di twitter setelah mengunggah pada akun YouTubenya yang berisikan permintaan maaf dan mengaku kesambet. Dari ramainya perbincangan soal isu ini dan banyaknya masyarakat yang berspekulasi hingga terbagi menjadi dua kubu, yakni kubu yang merasa kecewa dan kubu yang mendukung. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyibak tabir dan melihat framing yang digunakan oleh media online ketika mengemas suatu peristiwa yang diberitakan. Dan bagaimana kepemilikan media memengaruhi kenetralan dan keobjektifan pada pemberitaan medianya. Objek penelitian ini adalah pemberitaan "Cak Nun sebut Jokowi Firaun" pada media Detik.com dan Suara.com. Dimana kedua media ini, memiliki rating yang cukup tinggi untuk jumlah pembaca, dan termasuk kedalam 13 portal berita online terbaik di Indonesia oleh akun akudigitak pada Maret lalu . Adapun metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif yang menggunakan metode analisis framing model Zhong Pan dan Geral M.Kosichi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Detik.com melakukan framing terhadap pemberitaan Cak Nun sebut Jokowi Firaun terkesan kurang objektif dan menggunakan ungkapan atau sudut pandang seseorang yang pro pemerintah. Sementara Suara.com membentuk freming dengan cenderung sama dengan realitas sosial yang ada, yang dalam pemberitaannya juga mencantumkan ungkapan tokoh, yang mana ia lebih condong terhadap Cak Nun dengan melihat perannya dalam masyarakat selama ini.

Abstract

Gender stereotypes give men a higher position over women. This encourages the behavior of men to feel they have more rights than women and even women, resulting in the discourse of male entitlement. This study aims to analyze the discourse of male entitlement being part of gender stereotypes in one of Gita Savitri Devi's YouTube content. The research method used in this study is Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis in the form of denotations, connotations, and myths in analyzing signs and symbols with a qualitative approach. The results of this study found that male entitlement is part of gender stereotypes. The labeling concept of gender stereotypes results in men having a sense of more rights than women and even women. Men are encouraged to show their strength and power to prove and maintain their position as dominant and superior figures. By finding the main concept of male entitlement in the content, it can be drawn that the discourse of male entitlement is part of gender stereotypes constructed by a patriarchal society. Gender stereotypes create disparities between men and women. This often results in excessive and arbitrary behavior by men against women and even acts of violence. , , , ,

Abstract

Every product that the public or consumers want to know, of course there is an advertisement that is made in an attractive way so that later people will start to be interested in buying the product. Marjan's ad has its own unique thing. This means that there are several values ​​contained in the ad, giving rise to motivation for young people to achieve some motivation to work in the desired field. Marjan's commercials have been well known since 1980 which were produced by PT Suba Indah. In Marjan's 2023 advertisement (part 1 edition), there are several positive values ​​that encourage humanity to be social, one of which is solidarity between humans contained in Marjan's advertisement. The meaning of solidarity itself is individuals between individuals to socialize and care for each other. Solidarity between human beings can be formed if there is a communication and mutual intertwining between individuals and social groups which is the key to mutual understanding between human beings. Communication in increasing solidarity of course there are certain rules so that individuals can develop in these social groups. Marjan's 2023 advertisement is an example of increasing solidarity between human beings because there is mutual care for fellow human beings in happy or difficult conditions so that a separate harmony appears in the advertisement.
