Journal of Safety Education discusses assessment, feedback, continuous professionalism, review of evaluation approaches for schools, school preparedness to support education, development of school models especially in dealing with multi-hazard threats in aspects of safety and health in schools (not only in natural disasters, fires but also social disasters such as bullying, violence against women/children in schools and other threats in the field of education). Besides that, it also discusses a lot about the role of teachers, principals, school staff, students and parents of students in supporting safety in schools or colleges. In addition, safety education is also not only for schools or colleges/universities, but also for companies/workplaces, both formal and informal.

Abstract

Working in a hair salon involves exposure to various potential hazards, such as harmful chemicals from hair care products, the risk of injury from sharp tools, and non-ergonomic working postures. These issues can be addressed by enhancing workers' knowledge of occupational safety and health practices by providing education using available educational media. This study aims to analyze the impact of implementing educational media in the form of games on increasing knowledge among salon workers and clients using salon services. The research method used is a pre-experimental study with a single-group pre-test and post-test design. The data obtained comes from two types of sources: primary data and secondary data. Primary data were collected through interviews and direct field observations using a questionnaire as the research instrument, while secondary data were obtained through a literature review. The study showed a significant increase in workers' knowledge after being educated through games. The average knowledge score of workers increased from 45 (pre-test) to 97.5 (post-test). Similarly, salon clients' knowledge also significantly increased from an average score of 67.76 (pre-test) to 93.16 (post-test), with a p-value (<0.001).

Abstract

In today's development, many games are played by all groups, from small children to adults and older people. This game can be used for fun or as a learning medium. This game can also be used to increase public knowledge, one of which is regarding occupational safety and health. There is a game that can be used to improve understanding in society, namely monopoly. Therefore, this research aims to determine the effectiveness of monopoly learning media, which contains occupational safety and health "safetypoly", in increasing public knowledge regarding Occupational Safety and Health. This study used a quantitative research approach with a pre-experimental type of research. The research design used in this study was the One Group Pretest-Posttest Control Design. Data collection methods include questionnaires, observation, and interviews. The data analysis methods used in this research are the Validity Test, Reliability Test, Normality Test, and Wilcoxon Test. The "Test Statistics" output is known as Asymp based on the research results.Sig. (2-tailed) is worth 0,000. The value of 0.000 is smaller than <0.05, so there is a difference between the pre-test and post-test results. Apart from that, there was an increase in workers from 20% to 80%. It can be concluded that the safetypoly game influences students' level of knowledge regarding the dangers of chemicals, so this game is effectively used as an educational medium related to occupational safety and health.

Abstract

Batik is the art of drawing on cloth using canting with small ends and batik wax. The process of making batik can cause work accidents and occupational diseases that occur because of equipment failure and human errors that do work not according to procedures. However, in the informal batik industry, there still needs to be more knowledge and awareness related to potential hazards and controls that must be carried out. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct education to increase workers' understanding and create a safe and comfortable work environment. This research method is a quantitative study using the Wilcoxon Test to compare observations before and after treatment and determine the effectiveness of treatment. Based on the observations and analysis that have been carried out, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between the use of safety cards.

Abstract

There are 84,000 tofu producers in Indonesia, ranging from household industries with 5-8 workers to medium-sized industries with 50-100 workers. In a single tofu production process, additional chemicals such as CH3COOH and MgSO4 are used. These conditions pose potential safety and health hazards for workers, requiring control measures. This study employs a quantitative approach, using an experimental model with treatment in the form of a card game. Data was collected using primary data methods, such as questionnaire instruments and direct field observation. The questionnaire was compiled based on priority hazard assessment using HIRADC calculations and then tested for validity and reliability. The questionnaire results were tested using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test because the data were not normally distributed. The study results for worker respondents (0.027) and the public (0.000), or P value < 0.05, indicate that H0 is rejected, and Ha is accepted. The modified truth-or-dare card game method was found to have a significant impact on toxicology knowledge among workers and the general public.

Abstract

Globally, work-related injuries are a significant public health and economic issue, with approximately 5-7% of all deaths in industrialized countries caused by work-related injuries. Each year, work accidents cause 350,000 deaths and 270 million non-fatal serious injuries. Due to its high burden of occupational hazards, the construction industry is more at risk than other industries. Compared with workers in different occupations, building construction workers are three to four times more likely to die and twice as likely to be injured than workers in other occupations. This study aims to analyze the factors associated with the incidence of work accidents among house construction workers in Karangayu, Semarang Barat. This study used descriptive qualitative methods, including observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The result of this study is that factors can cause work accidents, such as age, unsafe actions such as not using PPE properly, and worker knowledge, which leads to unsafe actions. Still, in this observation, there are driving factors behind workers' unsafe actions, one of which is the non-compliance of house construction workers in Karangayu, Semarang.
